I only operate portable/ mobile Peter and when I tune up before I tx I always use a simple field strength meter that is positioned between the antenna and the vehicle that I am tx'ing from. That always works well and normally agrees with maximum output on my vswr meter.
    Have a great weekend.

Yes good option. Back in the old days we used current meters!

Peter, is there any way to measure the actual power at the feed point of the antenna? Any kind of remote sensor? I always enjoy your videos. I’ve seen enough of them that I feel like we’re old friends. Tim KG6G, formerly K3LSU

For HF, I have usually used a V-SWR meter. Saved radio finals more than once when birds damaged antennas. N0QFT

Use input between tx and amp also output after amp between antenna

That’s funny about the reflected power, due to the l SWR meter being connected backwards in the circuit. I am enjoying your videos very much Peter

Thank you for sharing, may I ask question about the doublet antenna, do we need to use line isolator at the short coaxial side (after the antenna tuner ) and is there a need for measuring the vswr at all? Thank you again in advance. VK2.

I would recommend an isolator if possible. The You are stuck with whatever VSWR your system produces. The essential is an ATU to match it to the transceiver.
