Thank you jim. If anyone is thinking about the dualtron mini it is worth it. I have done alot of research on nicer scooters. Jim sold me the mini and I can say hands down best buy I could have made. Jim is the best to buy from and always takes care of me if I need anything. If your gonna buy a Escooter purchase it threw jim. Trust me you will love it! Thanks again Jim
Thanks Adam!
Absolutely perfect video helped with my puncture
Thanks for the vid this is my 3rd flat first it was the rear i used slime too fix it and it held up for about a month or so tried to air it at the gas station and it won't air up i'm guessing the tube blown. I got new tube's sitting here waiting on my off road tires from ali express too arrive next week i just don't trust the road tires due too the tread not thick enough and leaving me stranded most of the time before or after a ride.
Glad it helped and I totally agree, the tires really need a upgrade!
Awesome video and very well made. Great to actually see a proper wheel change. Not sure what is happening with the RUclips Notifications as I never get any from you even though I have the Bell icon selected for "All" Notifications? I will keep dropping by to see what new videos you have uploaded until it's resolved. Take Care and Stay Safe
Thank for the video! this is very helpful, as there is not to many D mini maintenance videos out there yet.
Thank you, I just had a rear puncture.
Gonna change the tube.
yeah me too. but i got 1 screw left and its fucking rounded...
Man, you're the best! Thank you so much for this video
This popped up when I was looking at thunder videos so figured I'd check it out along with your review of it. I have to say I wasn't expecting you to be working on that in a yurt lol. Pretty cool :)
Hey thanks for stopping by, the yurt is a nice backdrop, the only problem is during the winter it gets chilly in there. I plan to review some of the bigger dualtrons early next year. Thanks again.
@@ElectronSurfer yeah I can imagine. Maybe get you a nice little wood stove in there?. You got a sub from me I'll be waiting on some more reviews :).
One thing I forgot to say is would it not be easier to inflate the tire whilst you have the motor out so you can use a quick release air pump and not the extension screw thread one? At least you would not get the small pressure loss when unscrewing the hose from the valve for the rear tire only as the front has easy access
Thanks for bringing up this point. I have a little angle valve stem, this one amzn.to/34c1pfH. I use it on the odd clearance valve stems found on many scooters. Some of the old cheap pumps. that only work on schrader valves. have a small enough head to fit tires like these.
you just earned yourself a new subscriber. Keep up the good work. Looking forward in watching more of your videos.
@L C., thanks a lot, i'm gonna try to keep them coming as best I can.
thanks for the vid. can you tell me what is the screw size and length of the rear rim ?
I can't get the left side bolt out no matter what. I even used a mallet and I have already rounded the bolt. It's super tight.
Please my friend how many hours do I need to use it before the battery done
Hi. Great videos! Do you have plans to review the new QUICK-4 soon?
Rear tire on Speedway Leger Pro had a hole most likely from low pressure because the whole was on the side. Could that be a culprit?
Regardless, this video helped unblock us in taking rear wheel BUT I do hear what seem minor scratching sounds, but still very usable.
Any ideas? Curious if you know anyone in Chicago or Milwaukee area I can pay to teach me how to maintain mine OR would you be up for it via video?
It can be tricky to get the axle seated in perfectly and I always have to readjust the disc caliper. I'f check those two things.
I was wandering does this scooter just have the rear brake or front also? It just says rear abs and rear drum brake on the specs.
The Mini only has a rear drum brake. I have ridden two scooters now with dual drum brakes and I am torn on if I think the extra one is worth it. I have a Futecher Gun that keeps having front rim and brake problems and noise...so for now I'd say one is my preference.
Thanks a lot for the video, just flat out after only 2 weeks. They should had keep the same full tire than the speedway mini 4. Great vid 👍 if you have any tips to prevent flat out or a full tire link, it would be appreciated
I"m on the lookout for a better replacement for folks that are having flat issues...I"ll include that as a followup video as soon as I find one.
I have purchased other then original 8 1/2 X 2 tire, just to try to find the way to cut the cost ( For original with inner tube £37 = $50 here in the UK ) Unfortunately dualtron mini wheel is slightly wider then usual 8 1/2 X 2 you can buy online (these fitting Xiaomi for example ) so I assume solid 8 1/2 X 2 are too narrow also. It is not difficult for companies to use generic sizes and "consumables" you can replace cheaper - but this way they would cut themselves from instant stream of revenue selling branded overpriced piece of rubber. And no , quality is not superior - just measurements slightly "off" so you basicaly stuck with original...
@@ElectronSurfer Thats fantastic! - Thanks for helping us out and trying to find solution
I'm thinking of buying a Dualtron mini or a zero 8 pro. Which one would you recommend?
Let me look at the Z8 pro specs and get back to you. All these "pro" models are confusing!
I don't see the Dualtron Mini listed for sale on your website anywhere.
@NextNate03, that is because I am focused on local sales only with Dualtron's, you are welcome to contact me through my website. Basically the cost to ship makes it not very cost effective for me to sell that way. Thanks!
Thanks for this.Hows it holding up?
hello, the default wheels can be mounted with tubeless tyres?
thanks
@Juan H, right now there are not solid or tubeless tire options for this scooter. I hope they come out with some soon.
Use your link and bought the tube from amazon which came out to being smaller than the original dualtron mini tube. It didn’t fit in the tire and Had to return it
Was the tube stamped 8 1/2? I know that same seller has a 8" tire also. If it's indeed 8.5 thanks for letting me know and I'll remove that link.
@@ElectronSurfer I have bought several inner tubes form amazon and ebay , and all marked as 8 1/2 are smaller then original Dualtron mini ... their inner tube is more like 9 inch ( leger size ) , and it seems like markings on the original mini tube are not corresponding with real size. Btw - I have sorted my constant punctures issue by changing tire and polishing rim - bought CST slightly ( 3mm ) wider tire , but fits and drives well. Again , £37 for original tire and £12 for original inner tube is a little bit on the expensive side as I managed to pay £20 for none Dualtrom tire with inner tube - this inner tube can be used on the front wheel after attaching bent valve ( £4 on amazon ) which basically cut the cost in half. On my none expert eye CST is better quality, but it is subjective opinion. I love my mini again :)
@@bartsali Thanks for this, I"ll removed the link from the video. Do you have a link for that CST tire?
@@ElectronSurfer yes - this is exactly what I purchased: www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07QN3XBVS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Inner tube could be fitted or work as a spare for the front - you just need metal bent valve attachment
Hi ,you said of coarse if u get a flat u wouldn't have to do what i just did there,so is it easier to change a flat than the whole tyre 🙂
Its only a little easier to just change the flat, since you would only pull the tube out of the tire and re-insert it. So good point, it would only save one small step.
This was a needed video. Thank for this... Any other particular tips for the mini?
@stretchyp, The only other thing I have had issues with are some kickstand noise and the folding handle noise. I have been able to quiet both with some strategically placed electrical tape.
@@ElectronSurfer I have put some black thick tape to stop the kickstand rattle. What setting do you have the brakes on? I find it can be a little weak unless you shift your weight.
Do they make a solid rear replacement for the Dualtron Mini? I seem to be going through tires left and right. My rim is extremely hot and I’m not sure if the overheating issue is due to a malfunctioning motor or brake drum.
I’m having the same issue with mine! I’ve been told there’s not a proper solid tire replacement and if using one there’s risk of brake malfunction or the tire spinning on the rim especially if breaking downhill. If you find a solution please let me know!
Mine is hot too - I I don't think so this is something out of order, but I think this is something what contributes to punctures. Hot rubber becomes soft, etc allowing pieces of glass for example easer move towards inner tube. Actually, during one of the tube replacments, I have noticed pieces of malted rubber on the inside edge of the rim. Could be and potential issue
@@marianaortiz462 I spent literally hours going thru amazon and ebay listings searching for solid tire. You can find right outer size etc , but I agree, inside diameter is crucial due to possibility of spinning etc. The problem is that the rim is not completely flat inside - its rising 4 mm before the edge - there would be no contact for the most of the rim surface with solid tire therefore high probability of malfunction.
Seriously, I am having flats all the time. I tried slime and it didn't help at all. I need a solid tire.
can you put the 10x2.5 off road tires on the dualtron mini?? i have then on my zero 10x and i'm thinking about getting the mini but i dont know if i could use those tires on it. thanks by advance
@genz0r, The mini has a smaller size tire, they are stamped 8 1/2"X2", so unfortunately, the 10" tires would not fit.
@@ElectronSurfer ok, thanks for answering !
man I badly need your help, i bought a speedway leger ( turns out a bad call) the back wheel is splittable so its an easy relatively easy inner tube change but the front wheel is a different beast as its not, can I for the life of me get the tyre back on with a new inner tube . Any tips and tricks here ? so you know if the Mini front wheel will fit a leger . There is zero videos on youtube about tyre change on the leger. The leger is advertised as i tubeless but its clearly not.
I am sending an email to Minimotors right now, I just got a Leger Pro in. From what I have heard they went through a few iterations of rim's on the Mini. I thought they all split but perhaps you got some odd small batch variant. I'll follow up soon.
@@ElectronSurfer Thanks man, mine is the standard leger and for sure doesn't have a split rim, its a proper nightmare getting a new tube in. I actually just took a delivery of a split rim that is compatible with the leger front wheel. I managed to get it sent to me from Greece to the Uk. Haven't fitted it yet so also will revert
I have a speedway leger too. It's a weapon of a scooter and I've been very happy with it.
However, for me, even changing the rear wheel is a nightmare. Disassembly and changing the inner tube is simple. Mounting the wheel back on is a thorn in my ass. I've spent 2 hours without success/any progression
What size solid tire would fit the mini?
I am checking on this, I think there is an option for the front tire but I know there is not currently one for the rear.
Is ıt the same way for front tire ?
Basically, but the front is a LOT easier. Same once your remove the rim from the scooter.
@@ElectronSurfer Thank you very much.
It may seem obvious but make sure the tube has air in it when you install..just like in picture cuz otherwise you ain't gettin that SOB on..
Appreciate the addition, after wresting with the scooter for awhile nothing is obvious! A little air makes your life easier for sure. Cheers
Is this a major concern with this particular scooter or is this just a "How To"? I've seen a lot of videos showing excessive flats with this scooter. I was advised to purchase at least 3 tubes at time of purchase. Would you agree? I'm not a hard rider, just a commuter. Thanks
@NoProGoPronto, it was just a how to. I never had any flats personally with my Mini. The tires are not especially thin or anything, I think the only possibility for more flats on this scooter could be that the traction patch is sort of widened because of the rim width. I think where a person rides (just the state of road debris, etc.) has much more to do with flats. Thanks for asking for clarity!
Trust me that is not true .. I'm so rough with my mini and after 350 miles I finally got a flat, was so impressed.. for normal commute you'll be fine
Well, it depends what surface you are riding on. I am from the UK and I had 3 punctures already ( 370 km ) Because the legislation, or to be more precise lack of it here, I can't use bicycle line on the road while commuting. This forces me to use pavements with uneven surface.Lots of small stones, sharp edges and even more broken glass... Slime doesn't work because the size of the punctures , and Dualtron UK charging nearly £10 for the tube so I purchased spare from amazon and Ebay . Problem is, inner tubes mark as 8.5 x 2 from Amazon ( or Ebay ) need to be stretched to fit on the rim ( are bit smaller then original Dualtron part ) which could add to the case being more prone to punctures. I think I will try 9 inch next time. I have purchased tyre liner ( arriving tomorrow ) I am going to try also, because at the moment I basically do not trust the scooter not going flat while commuting to work everyday. Rear tyre is wearing very fast. Overall I am happy, but you have to be aware, this scooter is not perfect. I had to change my left break light, because wire snapped after taking off the back body ( opening from the back ) Turned out , it was glued at the front instead of loose , so it was impossible to take of the rear body part without damaging the light . And there is this super annoying noise from the steering column ( squeaking ) which need to be worked out - I have found out solution to limit it, cutting the rubber "washer" and placing between the end of the column and front fork but still exist. Lastly, front wheel. One of the nuts inside were over turned while assembled in the factory, and bolt is rotating with nut when I try to unscrew . The front wheel is plastic, so very easy to damage. Overall I think it is one of the best single motor choices ( mine is with 17.5 LG battery ) but you have to be aware every scooter has some problems you have to live with, or DIY in order to improve. Dualtron mini is relatively new model, and there is not a lot of resources yet, so finding out solutions or replacements parts, modification etc is difficult at the moment. This will change with time as more people buy them I believe.
Drove 1000km now allready my 7th tire are there full rubber thires for this model ?
@@freenwordpass1530 As far as I am aware there is no solid tire replacement for this particular model ( or Leger because rims are the same ) I just had another puncture despite slime inside etc - 450 km and 4 inner tubes already changed - this starting to be a little bit annoying tbh - and I am trying to use scooter for commuting to work....
Hey can you find a solid tyre for the Dualtron mini? I’ve had 6 punctures in a month 😰😰😰😰😰
Unfortunately no solid tires yet, it is really tricky to get the fit right with solid tires and there just isn't the market for them. I have heard of some folks upgrading to a Leger front rim/tire and I'll look for other options.
I feel you bro. This is frustrating.
I have to say I was about to buy one for my birthday this August but you just save me $1500 I cannot stand so many flats on an E scooter I've had issues in the past a few years ago on an imax on an imax scooter and I was getting flats all the time I could not handle it
Do you know how to change a battery on one these?
Sorry I do not.
@@ElectronSurfer No worrys I just wondered best way to get to it i assume undoing the back end but i cant find any guides on that unfortuantly.
@@honeybadger9425 I don't have a Mini here now to look at but this style typically has a front deck cover that everything is accessed through, hopefully someone else chimes in!
@@ElectronSurfer Yes someone who supposedly modded one said you get to it to the front on these although im still a little dubois about ease of access because i know the control unit sits in front of it and just seem a little odd if the battery just slips out but it may well do.
@@honeybadger9425 Most of the time the controller sits in front (hard to get back in) the bolts from the stem attachment usually have to come out as that blocks the battery sliding out. Replacing the battery in the scooters without removable deck covers is not a lot of fun, it is amazing how much electronics they can cram in there at the factory!
Would tubeless tires work on this type of wheels?
@Robert M, I am almost certain they would not. I don't think you could get an adequate seal where the rim splits, especially the front rim. I'll follow up with Minimotors for sure. Thanks for asking!
@@ElectronSurfer hey Jim did you ever get a response? I asked them but still waiting a few days strong
@@lionellemussantander4940 It looks like there are some tubeless options for some of the 10" wheel scooters. Potentially, you could fit that on the front (don't quote me on that yet). I just got a Leger Pro, I'll see if that gives me any insight.
Nice
I can’t get the inner keepers to pop in , this thing is driving me crazy !!!!
It is a bit of a pain, just remember the inner keeper is really a guide so it faces down and follows the dropout groove, the outer keeper is up and pops into the "keeper" spot.
@@ElectronSurfer success I got it to work. My problem was I was trying to put both keepers in the hole. Your advice made perfect sense after I kept reading it over and over. Thanks
Adjustable wrench is not advised ... its just stips the bolt n the ure even more f**ked with a brand new product :/
An set size wrench is always better. However, on 15mm plus bolts I"ve never had an issue using an adjustable wrench if used properly. Even Dualtrons have some dodgy nuts here and there...
@@ElectronSurferVery true! Thanks for making this vid anyway .... afaik you are the only one who has :)
Hi again .... Ive manage to get the 2 18mm bolts loosened off now but im having massive issues getting the 4mm hex screws out as they are so tight, Ive spoke with DT uk and they sent me a video advising that I will need to buy a blowtorch to get the screws off as they use loctite .. naturally I do not wish to purchase a blowtorch just to fit a inner tube on my 1k scooter and feel this is a bit OTT to have to do for a tube change .... It looks like you managed to get the hex screws out yourself ... have you got any tips ? ruclips.net/video/m5aWXPFGRNE/видео.html
I can't believe they are suggesting a blowtorch, did they use permanent loctite, they should be using blue which lets you remove bolts later. I would try a standard single allen key and a small extension (open end wrench or even small pipe). Apply careful gradual force since you don't want to strip the bolt.
Now if the rim will not separate you can use plastic tire levers and remove one side of the tire just like you would a bike tire and change the tube that way, not as easy but maybe better in this circumstance.
@@ElectronSurfer I got the blowtorch in the end as it looks like this is a common method for getting the bolts unlocked but wanted to comeback and say Thx for the added advice again ... wish me luck xD
Well .. i got one screw out and the next one will not grip the brand new Teng 510504 4mm T-Handle Hex Driver that I had delivered today .... I give up ... not to sure who to contact as dualtron uk never pick their phone up .... so much hassle for a tube change :/
Don't forget to check direction on trye! Don't forget the wire guide fitment for rear brake...dude, you rushed this....
@Ben Andrews, I can't say anyone has told me I rushed something. I didn't try to be perfect and hope the community input will help folks, so thank you! One note on tread direction, research on scooters and bikes suggest it doesn't really matter unless you are riding in the mud or water. Basically the tread direction helps shed water or mud and nobody should be riding a Mini in either of those! Thanks again for the input.
@@ElectronSurfer its only because I kicked myself after I changed the tyre and then realised, to be honest! Youre right of course, after 100 miles these need a load of maintenence work..... my mini has been a constant problem after problem after problem so I'm annoyed with it most of the time, Forgive me
@@BA-ww9ls I'm bummed that you've had problems, what else besides the tire, maybe I can help?
@@ElectronSurfer I don't want to slam the dualtron mini as it may be I got a friday afternoon last build at factory job and they wanted to get home! Will send you a link to a video I'm making with all the fixes I've had to do and problems that I've had to solve.
Thanks for all your great content. Have a great day
