I remember being no more than 4 or 5 years old in 1968, and my parents taking me and my toddler brother to an A&W drive-in. Dad put in the order on the speaker next to the parking space (like in a drive-in movie) and we got our papa burger, mama burger, and baby burger from the friendly roller-skating carhop who served the food by hanging a tray from our Rambler's window. I saw within the last couple of decades, an attempt by A&W to do the carhop thing again. Nope, it's raining, they went home. Nope, it snowed, they can't skate in that. And liability insurance...well, that restaurant was gone in less than a year.
