- We are excited to share the details of the very soon to be shipping Woodsrunner style kit. Jim shows the copy he made of the original in this video as well as details of the new rifle kit. He explains why it has taken so long to engineer this product and how it is more complete than anything out there!

I received my Woodsrunner kit yesterday. Everything Jim says in this video is correct. The kit actually came almost completely assembled. It is what I would call "in the white". The only things that need to be installed are the barrel and the lock, and the sights need to be installed on the barrel. Within 10 minutes after opening the box, this gun can be fired. What a terrific kit. I don't know how they do it at Kibler's, but they make putting this kit together very user friendly. The fit of everything is superb. Thanks for manufacturing such a great kit.
so happy to hear this! thank you for your business!
How can a kit be TOO easy? MANY people who would never dream of owning a fine rifle like this don't have the shop skills to make one from scratch. This allows them to build something beautiful that is normally beyond most people's capabilities. It's a revolution in American gun manufacturing. For those of us who want to add all the original details not present on the kit, it would be of huge benefit to skilled customers if a detailed list of those difference be made available. As a person who loves adding details, I would certainly want to see that list! An option of obtaining the original length barrel may be too much to ask, but many would like to see that option.
For those that think it's too easy, tell them to get a block of wood and do it themselves. I'm registered for a class to build one of these this coming year (March of 2024) and I'm looking forward to it. The wood to medal fit looks excellent and saves a lot of labor. I will use mine to hunt deer in Pa.
Thanks for watching!
What a fantastic rifle Jim! I really appreciate the lengths you go so people can have success building your kits! I need to talk my wife into letting me order this kit!!!
I liked the model J&S late 1900 full stock flint lock it was about 5 in. Longer than the J&S 54 cal Buffalo rifle. Heavy you had to be a man to shoot them
Simply Amazing Jim…you’ve created a Great company and a Great product! Thank you!
Thanks so much!
Full steam ahead Jim! You are doing great! Certainly appreciate your machinist mentality and artisan heart.
Thank you!
Jim , these are Awesome kits and I wanted one way before you said it was “ like a Infomercial “ . Your kits are so good that they sell themselves . I will be ordering one of these when I have the funds . Keep up the Good work !
Wow, thanks! We really appreciate it!
Hi Jim! I can't tell you how often I watch your videos. I'm learning so much from them. At times I almost feel like an employee.
You are very welcome. Thank you for watching!
My first kit was back in 1983, I look forward to do one of your kits. Honestly the kits even back then weren't hard even for a kid, not that I didn't make mistakes.
Jim, that a excellent rifle kit! 👍👍😃
Thank you very much.
Thanks Jim and staff for your attention to detail. I have built 2 colonial rifles and I must say the beauty of the rifles is second only to their accuracy. Thanks again.
Thank you! We appreciate your support and business very much!
I just bought one of these with the fancy carving. Beautifully made. I'm 72 and have osteoarthritis. The suggestion I would have for people like me is set triggers.
Thank you.
Thank you I appreciate that.
I like easy. You have thought it through completely. A HUGE number of people don't or can't want to build a kit that is complicated. This seems to be the way to go for the satisfaction of building your own muzzleloader. It really is amazing that in this time of fancy AR's and mag fed funnyguns that you are building these muzzleloaders. EVERYONE should grab one of these while you can. Don't retire yet, Jim! Thank You!
thank you very much!
I can’t wait for my kit! Thank you for re-motivating me!🎉
You are so welcome!
Very impressive. I finished my Colonial rifle a few weeks ago and was it was a great experience. For me it was just the right mix of opportunities for adjusting, fittings and finishing. It also provided a wonderful experience of taking my 14 year old grandson to the range with this rifle for the his outing with a flint lock. He insisted I take the first shot and he the second. He hit a 12 inch gong at 50 yards freehand before we made any sighting adjustments and was thrilled. The Colonial is a very impressive kit and it is obvious that you have raised the standard even higher with the Woods Runner. Congratulations
So happy to hear you are enjoying your rifle and were able to share your love for it with your grandson, making memories! Thank you for your business.
I just last week received my colonial kit and I am beyond amazed at the quality of the kit! By far the best choice I could have made as far as who I got it from! And to think your still trying to raise the bar, you folks have the reputation as being the best in the business, it's not hard to see why lol, keep up the good work, I hope to own all three of your kits eventually! Thank you for sharing this and thank you for the great kit!
Thank you very much!
My first Kibler kit was a SMR and it practically fell together. I can't believe you were able to improve on what was already an amazingly simple build. Can't wait to get mine. Well done.
Thank you very much
Just spent a fall night out camping with my colonial in hand! Can't wait to pick up a woodsrunner!
I'm SO IMPRESSED! I love it, too. And I'm one of those flintlock gun builders who has machined & draw filed his own barrels, forged & shaped his own locks, and sculpted his stock from logs that had leaves on them that I cut down myself. What tops it off for me, as a former working machinist, is the focused application of modern CNC with historical hand work. Additionally, the intense focus of the historically grounded adherence to the correct form allows the new builder & shooter to open a door to the experience of past generations long ago. The modern shooter can, thanks to Jim's skill & focus, directly engage an historical object with questions of their own. I'd love to build one of these!!!
Thank you very much!
Thank you! Very impressive at what you are accomplishing. This level of craftsmanship required of the customer is right up my alley. I think it's smart that you leave the other two rifles a little less finished as it allows your customers to progress their skills from one gun to the next. As a Western PA flintlock hunter for decades on Cabela's kit gun Hawkins, building these out to replace our Hawkins sounds like a great retirement project, to me. Now to convince my wife, lol!
Thank you for our interest!
This Woodsrunner is my first build and I can't wait to have at it. It's looking like it'll be a great (easy) build and a top notch rifle. I've heard nothing but amazing reviews of your rifle so to say I'm excited is an understatement!!! GREAT looking kit
Same here bro, what wood and caliber. Mine is a 54. Curly maple
Good afternoon from Syracuse NY brother thank you for sharing your hobby
Legend right here! Amazing! Thanks so much for all you do! Godbless
thank you, I appreciate that!
I built your Mountain Rifle in 40 cal., fantastic kit, I had great fun building it. Now you went and did it, my arm is sore because of all the twisting you did to get me to buy a Woodsrunner Rifle kit.😉
Nice! Beautiful rifle. Let’s see one for us lefty’s.
You are truly a master craftsmen, your attention to detail is amazing
Your ability to figure out how to manufacture a product like this is amazing, And that’s an understatement.
Thank you for all of your work
Can’t wait for a hawken rifle down the road “hopefully”
Keep up the great work
Thank you very much, I really appreciate it!
Coming to your Open House in June 2023. Can't wait.
We aren’t sure if we will be having one every year or every other year … stay tuned
@@kiblerjim Thanks. I might come up for day trip and get lunch if nothing else.
Great looking rifle. You must be so proud of your work and workers. Fantastic job. One day I will get one.
Looks great!
Hopefully it is a .62 caliber English smoothbore next?
I just ordered my woodsrunner I can't wait till I get it very excited.
Thank you for your order! We appreciate it.
Working on my Colonial Rifle now (having fun trying to slot the barrel lugs so this kit is sold for me!). Will definitely be getting this one. You guys should be a training class for ideal customer service!
Just ordered a Woodsrunner in Maple .54. Finished a Colonial a few months ago and it was amazing the quality of all components. I'm now building a Lancaster from an assortment of parts from other vendors and they all require MUCH more work to fit....an order of magnitude greater amount of effort. With Jim's kits, you can spend more time on customizing, carving, inlays, etc, and not spend so much time on inletting, stressing out over drilling lock and tang bolt holes, etc etc. This is a world-class company and you cannot go wrong with a Kibler kit!
Thank you!
I just ordered mine this week
Personally I think making it easy is great for people like me with little skills in this area. We can get a first class rifle kit that will be a family heirloom quality rifle that we can have a hand in finishing
Outstanding rifle! I hope to pick up a Colonial Longrifle this year. I'm really excited to build a flintlock. Most of my experience is with refurbishing old Winchesters and building wood furniture for fun. This should be a great change. Thank you so much for your passion and the quality product you produce.
Thank you, your kind words and support are greatly appreciated!
Once you get the load down, you can pretty well be assured of surgical accuracy . What a joy to own such a fine instrument!
The videos that you have shared with us tells me that any time you touch wood. Or metal, you make awesome products. It looks great And hoping one day to be able to go deer hunting Is in southern ill. with one of your amazing products.
Thank you for your kind words and support, I really appreciate it!
Beautiful rifle kit. As soon as the fowler hits I am in!
You are amazing, my wife Tricia told me my colonial 58 cal. Is on it's way I'm so excited! Love your work I can't wait! Thank you so much
Thank you! We appreciate your business and support greatly!
Amazing attention to detail and quality! Keep up the excellent research and development so those that had the dream of building a long rifle can be successful. One of the biggest advantages of this kit is it will allow those who have some physical limitations can still build their own beautiful long rifle.
Thanks so much!
OMG... That finished rifle is STUNNING !! I just don't have the patience or space for building one of these.
You're doing amazing work Jim!! I've been waiting on this kit! Keep up the awesome work You all are doing!
We appreciate that, thanks so much!
Excellent job! I have one on pre-order. And if you ever make a left hand version I'll order two. I'm very happy with my colonial kit and thanks for having the shop tour I learned a lot.
Thank you for your business and support!
Man I love your stuff! I’ve been following you for years. I was lucky enough to get to come to your shop tour and man was I impressed! I learned a whole heck of a lot too! Can’t wait to get a Kibler rifle of my own!!!
Thank you so much! Your kind words are greatly appreciated!
Thanks for the update. This will be a excellent 1st time kit with all the finishing you've done on it . The colonial or mountain kits would be a god follow on for someone who wants a little more work to do. I pre-ordered the Woodrunner as a Christmas present for my brother , but now hope it's a little late so I'll have to get him something else and keep it for me. Was hoping to hear that a Hawkens was next in line... but I'm sure I'll order the fowler too. You do great work Jim, thanks
Brilliant video, loads of respect, bless you and your loved one's. Rodge David kidderminster uk 🇬🇧 x
Thank you so much!
Amazing machining, and quality!
I was definitely sold on the ease of putting it together, (and the shorter length) this way more time for finishing details. I have one pre-ordered too, can't wait, so hopefully before Christmas sometime? 🤞
Beautiful craftsmanship everyone and I am new to building a muzzleloaders
Thanks Jim on a great video of the WoodsRunner up date. Can't wait to make another trip there to pick mine up.
You can bet I'll be ordering one of these in .54
I have a SMR in 45 and last week I ordered the Colonial in 58 smooth, Next year I'll have to get the Woods runner, keep up the great work.
thank you for your ongoing business and support!
Outstanding Jim and Katherine. I will need to get my order in. To those who say it is too easy. There is no such thing as to easy.
So excited to get my Woodsrunner!
Thank you for your efforts to make such quality products available.
One of your kits are my grail gun for kits.
Again, thanks for all you do for the muzzle loading community.
Thank you so much!
Extraordinary! I enjoy the build but mostly the shooting.
Great improvements in the kits.
Believe I heard you saying a smoothbore is next? 62 cal./20ga? Oct. to round w/ wedding band transition? 37”-38” bbl. length? I can hope. Its obvious you take take great pride in your work! Thank you for taking the time to show us the pains you take for us.
I like how the barrel is a bare metal patina look! How did you do that!? I’m on that step next. I have Jax Brown for brass. I wish you had a video for that part!
Great job man!
Thanks
Most likely Jax black. kiblerslongrifles.com/products/jax-black-darkener-recommended-for-iron-steel-parts?_pos=1&_sid=522cb1ec4&_ss=r
I’m sitting here drooling with my heart bounding ,dreaming loving it oh my …. And I’m in United Kingdom, you Americans are soooo lucky ❤❤😂
When are you going to be able to make a Hawkins kit I live in West and ride horses so I'm wanting a 54 cal Hawkins
Hello, I am watching the video and I am interested in knowing how you build the grooves in the barrel, if it is due to grinding or compression of the bore, I would like in .38 caliber, since it is more common to get a mold to cast the tips, best regards from Argentina.
Good business mind set for sure. I hear the word trade gun? Can you explain a little? Lost my car and black powder rifle a week ago and would like a flintlock to build .
Which style, the colonial or woods runner, would be the most similar to something a farmer or plantation owner would have had access to in the Carolinas around the time of the Revolution? Mainly the Charlotte/Camden/PeeDee area of boarder region of the Carolinas. I know many different regions were settled by folks from varying backgrounds but just speaking in generalities. Definitely considering one of these kits!
Either colonial or woodsrunner would be believable.
Another Great Video!!! What a Tremendous product!! I Will be ordering after the first of the new year. (My truck just Ate my gun money!) I truly felt that my Colonial kit just fell together, to see this video is a real eye opener. I have told many people that they can build an Heirloom Quality rifle from the colonial kit, which is true. Building that Heirloom quality gun from this kit will be a simple task for most people. Keep up the Great Work!!
Seeing this video makes me feel like maybe I could do this myself. If the hardest part of this job is to sand in a hand rubbed touge oil finish, then I'm going to give it a try.
This really does look like a fantastic product!!!
Thanks!
Great video. I cannot wait for mine to show up!!! The product you are offering is amazing and just wanted to say Thank You.
Thank you! So happy you enjoy the videos!
Beautiful rifle! Any chance on a .62 smoothbore barrel for it 😀😀😀?
I do plan on purchasing you're fine kit thank you.
Thank you for watching!
Fantastic! I want one bad and am saving to order. I've put together a few straight barreled rifles from parts but something of this historical time period and this quality I have waited for for a long long time. You'll be hearing from me.
fantastic looking rifle! Hard to believe that's a production piece!! Congrats!
Thank you so much!
I’m so excited for my Woodsrunner!
Very nice... I'll set up a pre-order with you guys for this rifle thanks
I was wondering if it is necessary to disassemble the lock to put a finish on it?
Yes it is, if not you risk the inner workings getting gummed up and not working properly.
It’d be amazing to have a kit like this for the Baker rifle. None exist in the market currently.
i love it. "its too easy" sounds like an old geezer that has gun building as a hobby. Im young. I want the best possible flintlock in the most efficient manner. I got stuff to shoot and things to hunt!
In so excited and I just cant hide it.
Wow, amazing. You sold me on this rifle.
Thank you for sharing, great looking rifle.
Thank you!
Woodsrunner kit ordered!! 👍👍
Awesome! Thank you!
I would like to see a demonstration how you bore out the barrel and install the rifling. I understand from others that an 18 to 33 twist is best. 18 is more accurate when firing! Are the barrels cast with the opening or do you drill it out of hardened steel??
We purchase the barrels drilled and we machine the outside
Lets go just found your stuff while looking for my first flint lock top loader to buy, grew up hunting with my dad's old dixie gun works guns that he built back in the 70's! Crazy thing is that I am in Virginia at college right now but am originally from literally 10minutes up the road from you in Lisbon! small world. Am definitely looking at this gun as my first!
Wow! It is a small world.
Pardon the pun, but I'm almost ready to pull the trigger on purchasing one of your rifle kits.
I'm curious if you are implementing these improvements to the colonial rifle kits and if there is a possibility that you may offer a lefthanded version.
I've been watching as many of your videos as possible, and I believe that they are the best quality and value for the product you provide.
Thank you for you comment and support! There is a possibility of a left handed version however it would be years down the road.
@kiblerjim
I did pull the trigger several months back and got one of your Colonial American Longrifles 54-caliber extra fancy maple, and I absolutely love it.
The kit went together well without too many problems (my first build), and with the support of your videos, I have a very beautiful and accurate rifle now.
I'm trying to scrap up some extra money for my next flintlock (I'm thinking Southern rifle in 40-caliber) and looking forward to purchasing another one of your kits.
Thanks for the response to my earlier comment.
Outstanding! I’ve did a SMR and 2 Colonials. I think one could put this together and shoot it in an hour!
About when will these rifles be ready for sale I would like to place an order
Hey Larry, they are for sale now actually!
That’s so nice 👍 👍👍👍👍😎
thank you!
That is truly amazing.
I really really want a Fowler but this rifle is very enticing. Have SMR in curly oak 40 and curly ash 45.
You are very appreciated and talented
Thank you
Thank you very much!
Are these Woodsrunner barrels rifled or smooth? I did not see that on the webpage. I noticed for the Colonial that rifled or smooth are options, should this one be assumed to be smooth?
These barrels are only rifled.
This is awesome! I am looking forward to an approachable rifle to build. Are there recommendations or instructions for bluing product/technique?
Do you know when the term Woodsrunner was given to this rifle?
Mr. Killer is this the same pattern as what’s known as the “Feather Rifle”? Thank you for your hard work. Mike
Sorry Mr. Kibler
Terrific rifles, need a lefty next!!! please.
Is there cheaper version of em
to buy? We have so restricted Gun laws
Here in Sweden. But black powder guns
a legal. They must be front loaded and
smoth barrel.
Finishing up my colonial, this will be the kit I make next!!
Your doing GREAT!!!!!/Ed
Thank You!
Can’t wait to order one.
Very nice kit. The fit from the new techniques and machinery is impressive. I notice the stocks all have the ramrod tubes pinned on them. Are those and the barrel tabs already installed and drilled on these kits?
Yes, everything is drilled for the Woodsrunner
Absolutely no doubt to it you make a quality product. I wish we could some day I like tofinish our conversation about my ideas on the (WHAT WOULD ASHLEY DO) Hawkin build kits. It is important to remember Samuel and Jacob started training and building in the east before the the Saint louis builds of the mid late 1820's by the time hawkin didn't became popular until the rocky mountain fur trade was almost over. Hawkin was seen more on the Oregon/Mormon trail than roundevous.
Mountain man
Wow i built 2 smr and the butt plate was a challenge but not to much. Great vdo
