    Sweet footage man!! Why no keeping them? What's the regs on dolly trout there?

      I don’t keep Dolly Varden except occasionally out of the ocean as a shore lunch over a campfire. There are too many other more delicious options here in Alaska. The limit is currently 10 per day here in Kodiak. Thanks for watching!

    Does the bead work this time of year as well? Or only once more of the reds and pinks are in?

    • @kodiyakangler
      @kodiyakangler  Год назад

      It’s more of a late season tactic. Reds spawn in the lake so there’s not really any eggs drifting down the rivers until the pinks show up. Plus a huge majority of the Dolly Varden are migrating out to the ocean to feed on salmon smolt and baitfish until the pinks start coming in.

    Why do you have the egg so far above the hook?

    • @kodiyakangler
      @kodiyakangler  Год назад +1

      Keeps the fish from getting hooked deep, which is essential when practicing catch and release. 99 percent of the fish hooked on a pegged bead are in the corner of the mouth. Thanks for watching hope you found something useful for you

    Do you not carry a firearm? Bear spray? Big pointy knife😂

    • @kodiyakangler
      @kodiyakangler  9 месяцев назад

      I occasionally pack a firearm. I’m not a fan of bear spray personally. A road flare is my preferred deterrent. Wildlife have a huge fear of fire and cracking off a road flare usually sends anything running
