The band member's name is kami and gackt used to be good friends, best friends even, with him. But a few months after gackt got out of the band, kami died and so he wrote u+k as a memorial song for kami (u and k being the initial for kami, or Ukyou Kamimura). kami used to love cats and i think that's why he performed in cat costumes and stuff

The cat theme is so silly and goofy, but I think he did it because he feels like it would make Kami laugh. And this entire song is in honor of Kami.
