- Even if you understand public/private keypairs, the difference between encryption and hashing, much less digital signatures and certificate authorities, can be overwhelming. This video should clear up any confusion, PLUS help prepare you for the Linux+ certification. If that's something you're into. :)
00:00 - Introduction
00:57 - Poor life choices and bad dancing
01:11 - Public/private keypairs
04:05 - Hashes
05:28 - Digital signatures
08:46 - TLS/SSL web browser sessions
13:10 - Certificate authorities
14:17 - Self-signed certificates

Hey Shawn, just wanted to let you know I just took my Linux+ exam this morning and I passed. I had been doing some older CBT and just doing a lot of hands on stuff with various distros, but I used your video series to cram the last couple of days because I realized that there was a lot more on the latest exam. I basically put your playlist on and sped it up so I could maybe make it thru all of them. I took some updated practice exams and I was not doing too good, but I passed. So thanks to you for making this content. Hopefully I can support you in some way in the future, but I will make sure to like all your stuff and make sure I tell as many people as I can about you and your content. Thx a bunch. Plus I love your tagline at the end of your videos. I tried to come up with something similar when I tried to start making some videos. I had to put that on hold but if I start it up again I will refine it. I was trying to say something along the same lines. My last iteration was "if you cant be kind, at least don't be mean..." Happy Holidays and hope 2024 brings great things for you.
i am studying for linux+ right now - somewhat challenging! thanks for the content!
Hooray new video!
Thanks!
Thank you, Shawn. Loved it how you explained digital signatures, certificates and how browsers establish secure TLS/SSL connection with WEB servers
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thank you for your contributions to the i.t world i was able to get a better fundmental understanding to linux because of your tutorials and very engaging.
Thank you! That’s incredibly kind to say. :) (and you’re very welcome!)
Thank you for your effort and content. This is amazing, and I will be using it towards my study along with ITproTV course content to get the Linux+ cert. Do you recommend any other resources for studying? I will also be using william bo rothwell cert guide which offers some nice information about cicd, terraform, ansible and IAC setting me up nicely for a devops role. Do you believe Linux+ is better than lpic 1 in terms of information taught/tested on but also job skills recognition ?
thanks. very useful
Ok… weird glitch at 00:17 (thanks for pointing it out Scott!) - I’m going to leave the video live though, I don’t think it’s too distracting. :)
Edit: CRAP! The Patreon supporters didn’t scroll either. Double fail. :/
Wait what? conceptual teaching! You sir are very funny. Merci beaucoup pour ce moment de rire.
lol -- if my family members roll their eyes REALLY hard when watching one of my videos, I consider it a success. :D
