Thanks for the video. Helped me a lot when I started playing. Since then, I tried to find the quickest way to make money too so here's what I usually do now. I simply combine the fuel harvesting with mining in a specific way but with a few very important details that adds up to INSANE amounts of money overtime. It really breaks the game imo. I go all the way with the details since it's oriented at new players, not only more experienced ones. ;P
"SPOILER ALERT!!!" This "guide" spoils specific locations for mats farming and also items.
    - First of, I played Alliance in SP so I'll use the Pearl system here but I bet there's an equivalent for Federation players tho. If people can point out the useful spots for that faction it would be great. :)
    - If you're new to the game then I recommand choosing the mining ship configuration offered at the begining of the game since that's what you'll want to do. You can wait later for combat, like when you'll be rich enough to get a ship that actually IS worth using for that. For now we need a ship with as much cargo bays as possible like said in the video and you'll quickly be able to upgrade it to 10 cargos + 10 fuel tanks.
    - Ok, so the plan is to find a station that is close to an area filled with asteroids AND all of that within a nebulae but nothing else. The idea here is to eleminate all the useless missions that could pop-up in the station just because there's a planet and other stuff near it that we won't need. Guess what, there's a station perfect for that in the green nebulae on the right side of the Pearl system. You have everything you need right there to be stupidly rich very quickly. Don't worry about the nebulae, it's stable and won't mess with your ship navigation systems like others can do sometimes.
    - Save your game just in case asteroids get in your way and then jump directly to the station that should be called "Research Alpha". You should be able to see 2 asteroid fields very close to the station. There's one above and another under it. I choose the one above since it's a bit closer to the station's docks. You might want to save your game again in the station in case you're not very good at traveling around between asteroids yet. Shit happens lol. ;P
    - Now get to mining and fill all the cargos you have. If you have the Deploy Constructor (sold at the Port Oasis station in the Pearl system among other places) then don't forget to use some Mining Probes everytime you can build one to make things go way faster by looting the Cargo Box it drops when it expires. Also since we're in a nebulae make sure you have the Fuel Converter (also from Port Oasis) equipped as soon as you can afford it to get tons of free gas that you can sell for extra money. When you're done filling the cargo bays head to the station (duh!) but DON'T SELL ANYTHING YET, you'll see why. Oh, and while you're at it you can drop a new mining probe each time before you go to the station since you stay in the area. It'll keep mining while you're busy getting the money.
    - Here's where things get interesting. Remember when I said I wanted to eliminate most of the useless missions? The thing is, the missions given at any station depends on what surrounds it. Since there's no planet in the area, we'll get less crappy ones. The only missions we REALLY want to see popping on the list, meaning the ones that ask the player to bring cargos of minerals (Iron, Diamonds and Platinum). Cycle the list and try to find such missions in there . If there's none, then take on any other mission on the list and cancel it right away. There doesn't seem to be any penalty at all for doing that BUT the entire list will refresh and there's a pretty good chance that the missions we're looking for will appear. If not, rince and repeat to refresh the list again untill it happens.
    - Once you get the mission you want depending on what you have in your cargos, take it then just go slightly out of the docking area and get back into it to complete the objective. The money you'll get for a stack of 25 minerals will be way over what you would normally get just by selling them in the store. Rince and repeat to empty all your cargos and you'll see how stupidly fast your wallet will increase. Yeah I know it takes a bit of patience sometimes to get the right mission to appear so now I'll give you a few more details to make it easier and more profitable over time.
    - One thing to keep in mind is that when you see a mission that asks you to bring minerals, you'll NEVER have more than one at the same time. So if they ask you to bring something you don't have, just take that mission anyway and cancel it to refresh the list right away.
    - You could stick to mining only 1 type of mineral, prolly Platinum since it gives more money than any other, but the thing is you'll struggle a bit more to get the missions accordingly so I recommand to vary a bit more when mining, at least with both Platinum and Diamonds. Iron gives way less than those 2 but you might want to get some too since you'll need it to build your mining probes anyways. The goal here is to spend less time refreshing the missions to get what you want and just have a bit of everything for all of them.
    - Upgrade your ship when you can afford the better frames to get 10 cargos, 10 fuel tanks and the items I mentionned. Even the Target Scanner item is very useful to see the % of each mineral contained in any targeted asteroid.
Guess what, I saved the best parts for the end hehe. Here's the true purpose of using that method. Here we go!
    - Normally when you sell some material at a station, the price drops with every sale and it affects the economy to the point that you'll end up traveling from one sector to the other to get a decent price... and waste a crap ton of time doing it. NOT with the missions tho. You can bring back stacks to complete the missions until the end of your life, it doesn't matter. The rewards you get are based on your Civil Rank and souldn't affect the economy in any way as far as I know.
    - Completing the missions not only gives you good money right from the begining, the rewards will also go up all the time since you increase your Civil Rank by doing them. At some point I was getting over 350k credits for a stack of Platinum on my game and almost as much for Diamonds... and it kept increasing.
Have fun abusing this and breaking the game haha. ;)

Hi! I really enjoy Evochron, but am always looking for more (and more interesting, and more varied) things to do. So was wondering.. money aside.. do you have any suggestions for interesting /entertaining activities? Have done the usual things.. missions, mining, etc. Love the feel of the game.. just could do with more variety of more interesting activities. Would appreciate hearing if you have any suggestions! All the best!

I have many suggestions. If you like I could make a list of things to do. :3
For you. I will make a video about it. :3
Unless you want me to reply a list. I could do that as well but I have always wanted to annoy my irl friends with making a top 10 ist list on my channel. Hehe.
      What do you think?

DeathTechDB Either - or both - would be great! Maybe a "Top 10" video that also includes a longer list in the description? Best of both worlds! Have been thinking of asking this on the Starwraith forums. I remember some time ago seeing an old post along these lines that had some suggestions (for EM) from some of the regular forum 'big names', but I can't find it anymore.. and the more ideas the better! I really do enjoy this game, but find I get a bit tired of doing the same half dozen or so things over & over. It's a testament to how good the feel & atmosphere of the game is that I keep coming back to it anyway! Would love to hear (or watch) whatever suggestions you have! Cheers!

We do tend to have occasional discussions about things to do on the forums but because threads get locked after 6 months they, much like an tutorials posted, fade into obscurity falling lower and lower in the listing as time goes on.
They don't get deleted, but they get buried so far down no one ever looks.
I probably will make that video then. :3

You didn't test the "dump worthless cargo" method? (when mining I mean)

    • @DeathTechDB
      @DeathTechDB  7 лет назад

I was considering testing it but there were too many variables to worry about.
(Such as frequency of worthless materials, size of cargohold, materials range)
So I just opted to pick any run of the mill asteroid that gives diamond, metal and platinum.
As they are the most common in starter systems.
Imho you lose a lot more money and time waiting for the shiny materials than you do just taking whatever you get and selling it.
But like I said, I haven't tested that comparatively.
      Perhaps I will.

Gotcha, i basically did the same, got to the realization that the game intentionally complicated the equation and just went with my gut feeling that dumping worthless stacks when valuable stack is full would be best, but that's half based on random preference. Either way it got me puzzling which is great :)
