This was such a cool comment to read. You chose an Impeccable role model. I hope you stick with it and channel some of his energy. Layne helped write quite a few songs and he delivered on vocals like a boss. This band, however, is Jerry's brainchild. Not sure if you're old enough to have researched it yet, but Layne was actually pre-chosen to sing when he didn't want to. So Jerry invited a bunch of dudes he knew Couldn't sing to an audition at the same time as Layne, just to piss him off with the lack of talent lol. That is how we became blessed with the band as we know it 🤙🏼

+ChannelAsh100 i don't think Nik A was saying he was better, but he has big shoes to fill.. don't bring him down... you should be happy Alice in Chains continues to perform.. overall a very talented singer!
Duvall pulled this off exceptionally well. As hard as that had to have been.... well done. I knew a guy who sounded just like Layne, the way he talked, sang, and even sang Alice In chains music, was so dang chilling, when Layne passing hit the news, My friend had done 5 more shows at with his small band, and none of them had heard the news of Laynes death, and of the 5 shows, the crowd was in tears and silent and the band had no clue. That was the last time my friend ever sang. I tried to encourage him and his band to gift their gifts to the world. He couldn't stand to be the one to remind them of the loss, while seeing the crowd of people crying in silence.... I even sent a HD (R2R) recording of my friend to their agent, (which cost me dealer) and nothing was ever done about it.. Two artist's were lost out of that day. He did not sing since. It breaks my heart. At the same time, I understand, and kinda have to understand. I really wished he could have filled in for Layne, Not so much to say replace him, no way, but, the voice and range. When I seen my friend in passing years ago, he is pretty mute, doesn't have much to say, all of his dreams shut down. I heard he moved to the middle of the USA, for a welding job, not to soon after that, he was killed in a auto accident. The social coma he went into, shunning everybody of his past, when he was killed, nobody knew for months, not even what little family he had left, which were all like second cousins. and they didn't care. What a shame. What a loss on both lives.
William is a beast. Amazing. Stop comparing him to Layne. I've been in chains since they started. Saw them live so many times I lost count several years ago. Duvall is deserving of all the praise he gets and undeserving of all the hate.
No, you're wrong.DuVall can be good, but he isn't.He doesn't sucumb to his talent. He could sing a lot better, with more power, more strength. But he doesn't at all. Every live show he sings like a tired and lazy person, and winds up butchering some of the songs.
@@guicuecaseca I don’t know man...Too me it sounded pretty good IMHO. not that William will ever be as good as layne but I think he has helped Alice carry on and make music rather than letting them stop entirely
Honestly. I love DuVall in Alice In Chains. He adds style to their band. But I wish Layne was still here too. I wish Layne was still alive and DuVall was an extension to Alice In Chains as a secondary guitar player and alternate lead vocalist. Alice In Chains definitely needed a rhythm guitar player and someone else other than Jerry who writes the majority of the song. And DuVall provides that to ALice In Chains. What I wish is that Layne was still with Alice in Chains and DuVall was an extension of their band. With William and Layne alternating Lead Vocals on different songs or performing duet style songs together where Layne sings a verse than WIlliam DuVall sings another verse. WIlliam and Layne with Alice In Chains would be an unstoppable combination.
The man has guts for sure...Layne was an impossible act to follow... especially doing this song. This is almost Layne's theme song and this guy gets in front of people who have heard it 10,000 times and know it inside and out... he can't replace Layne of course but then nobody can, so I guess people should just deal with it, appreciate it for what it is, or just not listen to it.
@@Salomon_G Exactly this. ‘Nutshell’, on the other hand, was Layne’s tune, and as a guitarist, bassist and drums arranger (I don’t actually have any hand/foot coordination, lol), I prefer the way it’s put together. I just think this is such a personal song for so many people, even as the lyrics suggest "I give this part of me for you", that it's almost sacred. While I'm on the fence as to if the re-vamped version of AIC should play Layne-era songs, I'm pretty sure that I'm not alone in my thinking that this shouldn't be one of them.
