When I get ready to go to work at about 5 am in the morning I never put my safety belt on. Only 7 miles one way I mean what could possible go wrong? Its not even in heavy traffic either.

You need to be constantly focused on the road. No cell phone. No distractions of any kind. No impaired vision caused by alcohol. Don't rely on the calm environment to lull you into a sense of false security. It's reasoning like yours, "what could possibly to wrong" that sends you to an early grave. For goodness sake, "Buckle Your Seat Belt." It could end up saving your life one day.

The cartoon, I believe, was one of those failed pilots that aired as a special on Saturday morning TV. And their credibility died with that Ray Charles PSA.

I remember these growing up. However, the biggest influence on my seat belt use was taking driver's ed in high school. For four months, every time we got in the car we had to buckle up. It became a habit. I remember when I was in college my dad called me and that he'd been in a car accident. He refused to wear a seat belt even after it became state law. So when I picked him up at the scene he was being treated by paramedics for a cut to his head. Apparently his head hit the windshield. And, even after that experience he still refused to wear his seat belt unless he was in my car. I didn't want to be ticketed for his obstinance.

I do enjoy Lorenzo Music's performance as Larry. Also there is one thing slightly inaccurate about these commercials and that is that depending on the test in question, real life crash test dummies can in fact wear seat-belts, especially for tests about the safety of the vehicle itself.

There should be traveling comedy stunt show featuring these guys, and the Crash Test Dummy suits can really take such a pounding, that it's the most protective Stuntmen armor people could have, so they can do tons and tons of epic and creative stunts and crashes, while still promoting driving safety, like always Buckle Your Safety Belt, always use your mirrors, keep young kids in the back seat, make sure the kid is riding in a booster seat until the child weighs over 20 pounds, don't drink and drive, and don't throw liter out of your car, what do you think, would that be a good idea?
