Milton is right, whoever gets SOTY this year definitely deserves it if it's one of the obvious choices (himself/Suciu/Figgy/etc.). But goddamn if that kickflip into that car wash bank isn't the embodiment of one of the main things skating is all about, idk what is. Messing up, feeling the consequences, then going for it again with the knowledge of your 'failures'/slams with your friends hyping you up to give you self belief. Not to mention the fact that he destroyed himself the first time and risked his career and health to go back and try it. And Milton fucking nailed it with grace. Surely, quite a few of his tricks have similar stories, which is why he's earned SOTY if he gets it. And if not, dude's earned all our respect and rips with a good head on his shoulders.

Perfectly said. I'll never forgetting a ten stair I was trying to nollie 15 years ago. Lots of slams, lots of friends hyping, finally landing with cheers and roars. It's hard to compare that feeling to anything else in life. Maybe playing music on stage is a similar feeling. Or walking in space.
Not only that but he 1 upped it by doing kickflip like the ollie wasn't crazy enough
I was lucky to see him skate in person, once. Creature Demo in Santa Cruz on tour in 2018. He was possessed with the same fire and speed that I saw in Cardiel.
He banged out at least 7 tricks which would have been considered a "closer" and even after all the other pros quit skating he was still shredding with the locals without being filmed.
When the tour video came out they only showed one of the bangers. I can't imagine how many more sickness from other demos was left out.
It makes me think that there could have been a 20 minute MM tour video edit.

Same shit happened when he came to Australia he was at demo in Sydney and he just blew us away I never knew skating at that level was possible his energy was insane, he pretty much had a whole part in the independent tour down under the trucks he was doing in that video where enough for a full part shit was crazy
I love how all of them are super humble. Skateboarding is awesome. Imagine if this was football or basketball or any other sport, they’d be shit talking each other for sure

I'm sorry, I had my vote originally for Mark Suciu. But when I saw Milton's 10 minutes of absolute speedy chaos I changed my mind. Not only is his spirit aligned with what SOTY means, but his breakneck speed and spontaneous attitude is unparalleled. Nothing but love for this guy, and whether or not he wins I am rooting for him. What a fucking legend.
Gotta give Mark points for nominating Phelps for SOTY, real shit right there. As long as either Mark or Milton get soty then everythings good.
