Birth Story | Labor and Delivery at 34 weeks first baby

Daddy Kirt: What a whirlwind - a mentor told me life gives you epiphanies.
Rochelle's water broke on July 18th at 34 weeks and 1 day. We immediately called our midwife and we were asked to head straight to the family birthing unit.
My mind was racing and thoughts were flooding my mind. I let my instincts take over and with our friends and family cheering us on. I was able to be the support Rochelle needed from start to delivery.
Everyone from triage to the delivery team, to Dr. Shang who made sure everyone was on the same page when Rochelle was pushing, to the nicu team and all the amazing nurses that made Robbie and my wife stronger and healthier. I cannot thank you enough.
Robbie's home, Rochelle's healthy and I'm a dad.

It's good to have good access to proper medical care. I went to take my pregnacare meds from the hospital only to have a small chat with one of my docs and she insisted on checking me plus a scan only to find out that the cramps I was having were actually contractions and I was 36 weeks pregnant! Not to mention that the previous day was at this hospital for my ANC profiling and the next day went in for results but they didn't pick up anything! I was so upset! Long story short, baby came after 56hrs and he healthy though had to take jabs to stabilize his lungs and we didn't need incubation. I thank God for Dr. Thigiru, she's heaven sent
