Good stuff! Nice way to move from the basic harmony, which can sound a little boring, to hitting the extensions!

Glad you liked it! and yes, using those extensions really adds alot to lines!

Another masterful lesson: clear, to the point, manageable, and filled with great content. If anyone reads this comment: if you have the opportunity and means to take lessons with Nathan, I highly recommend it!

Richly articulated lesson Nathan! Some beautiful sounding lines. When it comes to the idea of developing "vocabulary" of jazz language would you suggest any particular approaches? Clearly listening to music you enjoy and feel inspired by is a good start, perhaps singing lines you hear and transcribing too. Are there other steps you would suggest? Thanks for the great quality of your lessons!

Thanks! and for developing vocabulary there are many different ways to do it. I personally transcribed a lot and found the licks and idea that people used over various sounds. I started small, just being able to solo with one or two ideas through out a song, then gradually got better at hearing more ideas that i got from transcribing. Then once you can do that it's about being specific with what sound you are trying to convey! Hope that gives some insight of a very long (but rewarding) process!

Appreciated - I guess there are no short cuts! Starting small makes a lot of sense - best to try to enjoy what you are playing and make practice as musical as possible!
