This is about Italy, with the switching between the army marches representing the former militarism and the flute and strings representing the move to freedom. The later parts I expect represent the final confrontation between the ideologies within the country or the last grand acts of a falling regime

i agree, i also feel it encompasses the clash of traditional style of italian music and orchestrated and militaristic music quite well:
This theme in particular is very melodic compared to other musics in the TNO album despite the almost anthem-like rhythm. It doesn't exactly go all the way through (maybe as a representation of a not too strict regime because of a lack of resources), it just comes off as a march-style rythm with a fully melancholic melody until the timpanis and the drums start, completely cutting off the melody at first (which is probably the silence after a big revolt gone wrong) but slowly regaining the melody.
Notice the overabundance of flutes and violins, very present in traditional italian folk music, as opposed to the brasses and the timpanis at the very end, which could be the miltary control trying to keep its strenght, but at the same time not being capable of doing so (the timpanis slowly going quicker, while the trombones getting louder almost as to silence the other instruments) and succumbing as the rebels fight to take over (the violins trying to overcome the trombones).

The most cringe comments on these TNO soundtrack videos are the people that praise the extremist ideologies in the game and not just appreciate the music for what it is.

The weirdest thing is, TNO makes it very freaking obvious the extremists are the bad guys, even going into detail the cruelties of said extreme ideologies and WHY they're bad, yet people still support them because... I guess they'd rather die a slave than live free?

I haven’t checked if it’s in the game yet but if not that would be a bit strange because there were songs released after this comment that are in the game and have been for a while. So I guess it being a main song to a future Italy overhaul would be the explanation.

I swear, the way Fascist Italy is presented in TNO almost looks like it was meant as a power fantasy made to appeal to the Italian audience, unlike Germany and German-orbit countries which are clearly showing their ugliest and reprehensible side. Popular leaders who perished in murky circumstances all alive and well (Balbo, Mattei, Moro), a "tolerant" foreign colonial policy, not to mention bonus "good guy" points for breaking alliances with Germany at the earliest stages and giving safe haven to persecuted Jews. If you'd ask an Italian if they'd like to live in TNO's Italy (with Atlantropa on or not), I'm sure they'll all answer yes deep down, regardless of their political stripes.
