A big shoutout to both of them for bringing one of the most genuine journalist-Vijay Lokapally sir, to their show. It is always lovely to hear his opinions on cricket & his anecdotes about players. He is certainly one of the best person to write on this sport. Please bring more of such people to your podcast...
2 of the things that I really like is Cricket and History. Hearing about our own cricketing history from journalist who has covered it makes it even more special. Thanks and please bring content like this more.
This how podcasts should be . The guest was so eloquent and articulate no forced sensationalism keep up the good work guys . Taran should try updating his knowledge on cricket history
He is a natural at this. Eloquent and Humble. When a guest addresses the interviewer by name before narrating a tale, it is the ultimate sign of respect and how he truly enjoyed being there. 🙌🏼
I was 16 year old in 1987 reliance world cup. My cousin yunus rushnaiwala was a ranji trophy player and he had invited vengsarkar kiran more manoj prabhakar and azharuddin to his bunglow for dinner. I had the privilege to meet all the stars and took their autographs. Vengsarkar was captain. This was in ahmedabad.
Kinda let down the kids these days aren't aware of the 99 Indo-Pak series in which Shoaib Akhtar had announced himself on the biggest stage. As a massive Sachin fan, the disappointment of seeing Dravid and Sachin being bowled to successive yorkers as I had just reached home from school is one of my most vivid memories of that series. And of course, Sachin's insane knock in the Chennai test and Kumble's 10 fer in Delhi. But the 3rd test in Kolkata was the one that meant Shoaib had written himself in Cricket Pop Culture for years to come.
Correct, the 3rd test was Asian Test Championship, but it was all projected as a 3 test series with Pak securing an upper hand by winning the Kolkata test. Fully agree with @abhisran 0509 about Shoaib’s announcing himself at the big stage! It was a defining moment in world cricket. What followed were two embarrassing tri series losses for India against Pak in finals (India & Sharjah) but we took sweet revenge in ‘99 world cup, albeit in largely a poor campaign for India.
It's actually other way around. Saif Ali Khan is the son of the Tiger Pataudi. The likes of Bishan Singh Bedi, Imran Khan and Ian Chappell had the great regards for MAK Pataudi
A small correction- in 1999, the crowd incident at eden didnt happen because India was losing. It happened because Sachin got run out due to a collision with shoaib akhtar, who deliberately came in his way while he was taking a run. Pakistanis refused to take back their appeal, due to which crowd got infuriated
I wouldn't have expected Vijay Lokapally as a guest on a podcast in this day and age. Such an iconic writer, brings back so many memories of reading Sportstar as a kid. I would genuinely look forward to reading his articles. Thank you for having him on the show
Loved the entire episode... Like the child-like innocence of both our hosts in front of Sir. Like how they showed immense respect to Sir, who deserved it so richly....
Oh the quality of content!😌🤌Kudos to both of you...always wondered about the game and its culture in 90s and what better than listening about it from one of the most decorared cricket journalist...Loved it👏🌟
Just finish Off now in breaks .so Wonderfully in terms of guest, Quality ,little humor of both .Very Well Part-2 daal do and then Umpire wala bhi laa do
*Great start to podcast, can make it more deep as well. And Taran isn't completely wrong. Kohli and when he was Captain or when Ravi was coach as well, changed a lot. How many tests did we win in Aus overall before that??*
It's true overseas players have complained about poor food and accommodation in India and Pakistan. Although Ian Chappell said India had fantastic hotel in 70s in Taj but he blamed his board for giving them poor hotel back in the days. Tbh, people from overseas will always struggle because of the food. Here, in sub continent foods are bit spicy. England suffered a lot in their 1993 tour because of the weather and food. Also, Australia in their 1986 tour.
Kudos to you guys for bringing Vijay Lokapally, but sorry guys it hurts my brain when Taran said Kohli introduced the sledging and aggression. I feel so old. 😂
Been following vijay lokapally sir from years.. i liked the instance he told about my hometown patna and what the foreigners used to think about india... Liked the whole podcast..
Gen Z bachhe listening to Boomer dadaji wale vibes 😂😂 "Graham Gooch uss time ka Travis Head tha" I get where the guy's coming from but still... Travis Head khud thoda sharma jayega and Gooch khud hans padega.... Gooch was Masterclass for as long as he played. Head is just the latest "fashion" - no idea how long his legacy will last...if at all he'll have one!
Hey guys it was a wonderful episode and great content , just a humble request whenever a senior comes , do the comedy thats your job but dont use slangs which they cannot understand it doesnt suit our culture of respect for elders. Slangs like bro or other internet slangs. Otherwise a great show , keep going ❤
Vijay Lokapally sir's articles have been integral part of our childhoos. Really appreciated you guys for doing this and may this series continue. Hindi ke cricket magazines ke bhi columnist laiye
Gem of a podcast lendies, Best ever content produced by you guys…. Only respect for you guys and feeling grateful to hearing that sort of pure cricketing discussions from 60s to current era ❤
29:00 the 1987 World Cup game between India and England at Bombay, playing second was the one of two causes we lost. The wicket was painfully slow. To accelerate was increasing the odds of getting out substantially
Uncle 1999 Eden Gardens main stadium is liye khaali nahi hua tha k India haar raha tha balkay Sachin ka controversial runnout wajah thi jis se public main ghussa tha.
don't promote people to watch the video in 1.5x as that reduces the channel watchtime that makes the algorithm think the people probably skip/stop the video thus reducing overall channel growth
Having Mr.Vijaj Lokapally as guest but the interviewers weren't prepared and wasted such a great opportunity. So much would have been spoken about cricket history but a wasted opportunity.
Great podcast....Just one suggesting stop doing that "chip chip" sound. It's irritating...a good podcaster will have complete calmness while guesting is answering. 13:56
Yeah, IND and PAK were favourites in 1987 WC. Australia, against all the odds, won the WC. They were not favourites. England should have that won wc. Gatting's reverse sweep turned the future for Australia.
Love your content brothers. I just want to make a request to talk on other sports as well. I also love cricket and watch every game of India, but everybody knows how cricket overshadows all the other games in India. U guys have the audience. If you talk about other games and players, they'll get more eyeballs. Your contribution will be small only, but something is better than nothing.
Good interview. And extremely humble. But he did not summarise India-sl semi match correctly. Sachin was cruising at one stage india 98/1 with Sachin on 65. And from there we were 120/7. 😢
Good interview but i can not believe 2 guys with so much followiing were looking surprise in hearing about 2 Yorkers of Shoaib Akhtar to get Sachin and Dravid out.
Ind vs Pak match 1999 public went crazy in Eden Gardens because Sachin was run out as Shaoib Akthar came in his way. People did not like it and agitated.
A big shoutout to both of them for bringing one of the most genuine journalist-Vijay Lokapally sir, to their show.

After watching this video i realised taran is certified lockdown Cricket fan
Dono bhi lockdown kid hi hain cricket ke...
@@ajinkyagawandi1716 The moment he said Kohli agression lekar aaya...I cringed
Exactly. I paused the video to comment here. 😂 @@manashsarkar4659

Agreed bro , taran has no idea about cricket
He is a natural at this. Eloquent and Humble. When a guest addresses the interviewer by name before narrating a tale, it is the ultimate sign of respect and how he truly enjoyed being there. 🙌🏼
Don’t mind but both of your cricket knowledge is pretty poor. This interview deserves better interviewers
Been saying this from starting, for Taran cricket invented in 2012
Agreed
They are geeks who don't know anything about cricket
correct, taran started seeing cricket after Kohli became captain
I came to comment the same.!
Proud of lendi RUclipsrs😢 on of the best cricket podcast

Good approach to introduce experienced journalists who are passionate and knowledgeable.

Sorry to say wright was soft spoken, it was Ganguly who changed the mind and attitude of the team outside Asia!
Level of interviewers is sub standard. They want to know only controversies and not trivia. Lokapally sir deserves better interviewers.
Soothing to the ears to know about how our fav.game revolutionised in our country.❤ loved this.

Pls keep doing these podcasts..loved it.. waiting for many more eps..
Gundappa vishwanath used to look at the spinner n late cut the ball just when it was about to go into keeper s gloves. Man was a magician.
Hey 2 Slogger never been said to You But This episode make me Big Fan Of You Superb yarr❤
96'WC semi ka highlights toh humne ish IND vs SL Odi series me dekh liya 🤕🙏🏼
What a podcast mannn, excited for part 2 but as a cricket fan it was so good hear from sir❤❤
The story of the 99 test is slightly incorrect. The trouble started in the second innings, when Sachin collided with Shoaib and was run out.
It is very pleasant experience to see this video
I can correlate to all incidents but kids are newbies and have no idea on the 1987 ,1996 world cups.seems weird 😮
Big Ups Bhai ❤
Great Content as always

What a podcast for young generation like us to get to know about the legacies and aura of our legends

The story of Sharjah is inaccurate. That was Singer Cup in SL where Tendulkar committed to winning in the finals.
