First time I attended pt Rashid khan's programme at SRA, Kolkata. Presented raga 'Marowa'. Excellent, with this video I have got the chance to remember him at his younger age.
The Ustadji's musical maturity at only 23 years of age was quite remarkable. By that age, his raag vistar was already masterly - listen to how he devotes almost 5 minutes to developing tivra madhyam before moving to pancham (10:10 - 15:00). Thanks to Besant Behar for preserving this wonderful recording for us.
