I just finished Moon's autobiography and this makes me very happy. Frank was a tortured soul (in regards to having his music played properly) but his creations are greater than the sum of the creator, as it would be. RIP Frank.
The conductors suit is almost as shiny as this performance! No shortage of ambition required to play these pieces. Good work. Im sure Frank would have been thoroughly entertained by this performance.
По настоящему качественная и интересная современная музыка с интересными тембрами без перебора в сонорику. Мелодии сложны , но вполне понятны. Мне нравится , как Фрэнк работает с оркестром, и с перкуссией в частности.
Great video, very beautiful rendition of some very beautiful music! I love Frank's orchestral chamber works, Mo 'n Herb's Vacation is the unsung hero of his repertoire.
not quite true: i saw Toronto's Esprit Orchestra perform "The Perfect Stranger" back in the '9os, an extremely well done performance that even included the introductory theatrical cavortment of the vacuum cleaner salesman interrupting the curler-headed housewife as she went about her duties (clouds of powder erupting from her featherduster as she swiped at frontrow orchestra members' shoes), rolling Chunga in & inducing her to sit on it before turning it on to her great vibratory delight. dunno how many times this may've been performed accompanied by Frank's "minimal choreography" but i'll bet not many.
agreed & the pace makes them sludge it some at first, though they pull it together eventually. "Get Whitey" & "G-Spot Tornado" are killer versions, though, & it made my smile overflow into a gaggle'o'giggles to see Pintscher's obvious delight during "G-Spot". now if only we could get a well-rehearsed "Sinister Footwear" (among other things, of course)!
Get whitey is played too slowly. Compared with the Ensemble Modern performance in 1992 with Frank watching out. Still awfully beautiful music. But a slight bit too slow.
Thank goodness for all the European musicians keeping Zappa's music alive!
The way Zappa would have wanted to hear these works, I think. Well rehearsed and played with spirit and fervor, and joy!
By spirit and fervor, Zappa would say "Put the eyebrows on it."
Thank you for continuing to play Zappa!!
I can attest those arrangements are freaking difficult, killer Bass Clarinet part!
Lost for words! I wish Frank had lived to see his music played as he concieved it

Mind-boggling how the same person can write masterpieces in such different styles. "Get Whitey" is my favorite Frank Zappa orchestral composition.
Одна из лучших
Superb, show casing the genius of Frank Zappa and his arrangements.
It really is wonderful.
The only trouble is the inaudible mandolin.
Great Arrangement of Frank's vision and played with a precision that FZ would applaud. Loved It .
Ahh! This is so wonderful.

Just a beautiful orchestration of Franks chamber music.❤

Would have been very happy to see this performance...all the really good classical gigs were in Europe....
