Our final goodbye to Germany 🥺 + life abroad in Europe!! (This is what Germany taught us)

  • It's time. We're saying goodbye to Europe and Germany after the past 2.5 years and it's more difficult than we would have thought. Our time here has been incredible and moving away from our home, new friends, and Germany is so bittersweet. We won't forget the memories made in Germany and especially in our little community, but especially the feeling of 'home' that we felt.
It's off to Japan, to make more memories and explore the Land of the Rising Sun! Don't worry, we'll be back Deutschland. Our hope is to return to Germany again when our daughters are older so they can experience so many of the amazing things we have.
    Until then, Auf Wiedersehen!

Well I bet you that you will be back in Germany sooner than you can imagine. Simply because of the children who can grow up in Germany in a more child-friendly and free manner without worries and fears. You have more German values in you that you quickly become “homesick” for Germany. The serenity and work life balance are much healthier here in Germany than in Japan.

    • @RandyMahnke

Following you since you published your video "We're moving to Germany Part 1" and I just rewatched that one as well as part 2 - what a ride. Time has passed so quickly. Well, it shortend to 2.5 years from the expected 3-5 but it was packed with so many memories, fulfilled hopes and expectations, unexpected turns like giving birth in Germany or providing shelter to an Ukranian family.
I'll continue following to see your next chapter in life in Japan and see whats coming up. I still have hope in the old German saying "You'll always meet twice in life" that at sometime you will come back. Your openness and positivity makes you both a true ambassador of what can be achieved with the right mindset. While your final goodbye video summarized alot of how Germany or Europe changed your view of the world, maybe you could consider creating another one about the lessons learned in hindsight for those who are thinking as well about going such way to come over. Things in hindsight which turned out to be bad ideas, like getting a new car and ship it over instead of buying one in Europe, your thoughts of staying in an "american bubble" sort of community while living abroad in Germany vs. making German friends, possible stereotypes yxou had which in hindsight from your gained experiences turned out to be true or completely wrong etc. I'm sure this would help alot of others who are curious and excited but maybe also scared of following your footsteps.
Anyway I'm wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New 2024! And especially all the best to Willa because I think for her it will be the hardest time to adjust in such young age till finding new friends while missing her old ones from KITA.

What a fantastic tribute to your home of X number of years and I know it must pain you all to be leaving it right before Christmas. However, don't think that just because the population of Christians in Japan is tiny that Christmas gets ignored there! Quite the contrary! I personally enjoyed your growth as people...like, in the beginning Tanner was like a deer in the headlights, barely speaking, barely showing any facial expression. You tried _sooo_ damn hard to make the most professional videos and the toll it took was apparent. Your evolution into your own style and how you do it today, more relaxed and natural, was amazing to be a part of.
Also, you'll be pleasantly surprised by japanese nature, even in the city. It's a lot like Germany but also very different. Can't wait.

Moving to Japan does not mean that I won´t keep following you now! 日本へようこそ. There was water to be seen when the plane was landing in Japan. Did you arrive at Haneda instead of Narita what would be the usual international airport? Anyway Haneda would be much closer to your new home I guess. Edit: I see, checking the routes All Nippon Airlines (ANA) is flying directly from Munich to Tokyo / Haneda.

Thank you very much, that you bring such a positive view on Germany to the world despite the difficult times.

Maybe some German films on TV, especially for children. Or an online course.
Or you keep in contact with your friends in Germany via video calls.

We're here if you ever want to come back to your second home. I wish you happy and peaceful holidays and a great start into the new year and new adventure.
