Cyril beating Alpine in WEC with Hyundai would be so funny.
I'm new fan, can you elaborate. Thanks in advance.
@@chandupadissanayaka9964 The Team Principal of Hyundai's World Rally Championship team is Cyril Abiteboul, who used to be the Team Principal of the Renault F1 team before he got sacked because of an internal political struggle, and that team became Alpine. If he was the head of Hyundai's WEC team he would have a chance to beat his old team.
LMDh seems to continue to prove itself as one of the most successful regulations. Exciting news.
Because it’s cheaper and they don’t have to actually build the hybrids spec.
Meanwhile people complaining about Bop benefiting LMDh cars too much
@@iceblade019 i get the point but i'm here for the racing and those regulations offer plenty of it. I'd rather have 9 cars be on the lead lap after 24h then the leader winning 3 laps ahead of second.
@@tropfen I agree, but I think the existence of both LMDh and LMH at the same time is a bit redundant and brings up room for debate of unfairness. They should really just have allowed LMH to run at both IMSA and WEC and lower the budget for it
@@iceblade019 oh for sure. I guess it was kind of a clash of ideologies to some extent. FIA/ACO being more focused on constructor racing and in the spirit of LMP1 with the technology first approach. And IMSA having the more customer and budget first spirit they already had with their DP and DPi classes. I personally prefer LMH for the uniqueness of the cars and technology but i cant deny that LMDh seems to be what is more financially interesting for both customers as well as constructors. Especially for the ones that want to use the races to get their name out and not to flex.
New manufacturers is always a good thing 😊
LETS GO BOYS!
WE GOT ANOTHER!
Endurance is in its pomp right now. It's great to see.
I just hope we don't lose them from WRC.
It depends on the new regulations in 2027. The comission responsible for those had shitty ideas for 2025, is obligated to do a very good job. Hope for the return of something like the 2 liters era with bigger cars. I think it also depends a little bit on their performance this year
Let's go Kia and Hyundai boyz. Just make sure there is an USB port for the drivers. I can see they beat Ferrari, Toyota, or Porsche if they try hard enough.
As a South Korean, I can't physically express how insanely happy this makes me. If the whole plan comes to fruition of course.
Let's hope WEC will come to Yeongam because that's a great circuit.
I am from Romania 🇹🇩 and I am also happy for Hyundai 🏁 (if it is true)
Great news! I hope Honda, too, will finally decide to join WEC. Kinda frustrating that they're only racing their magnificent hypercar prototype only across the pond.
It's only racing stateside because it's a product of HRC and Acura first and foremost, not the broader Honda motorsports department. I do agree that it'd be nice to see the ARX-06 in WEC, that bored-out Indycar V6 sounds nuts off throttle and it's one of the best-looking cars on the grid.
Honda already races in IMSA under the Acura badge.
@@reaperbsc he knows that. That’s his chief complaint. The fact that HPD races in IMSA under Acura and NOT in WEC because they need the approval of HRC. HPD management have been relatively open to the idea of a one-off at Le Mans but said they would need the approval of HRC since it’s an international event and not an American/Canadian event.
Honda could have won the Centenaire of they had bothered to participate. Their car had a better pace than the Cadillacs in '23, and that finished 3rd.
Oh well, Honda being Honda...
The only reason why wtrandretti leaves is Honda still not brave to join WEC
They keep telling their main focus are F1 new pu
Why this channel has so few subs? Videos are short and right on point. Plus the guy has actual expertise as an engineer in race car development and really good at explanation why cars are designed in one way or another. There are very few channels that provide this type of content.
These hypercars categories go really well for WEC. The only things i would wish are a name change (since they still can't figure out what the h means) to something like LMHa and LMHb, and more LMHs to Imsa WeatherTech. I want to see the 499P at Laguna Seca so much
LMH: Le Mans Hypercar
LMDh: Le Mans Daytona hybrid
@@jasperli We don't know what the H in LMDh means. IMSA has never clarified it. All we know is that it doesn't stand for "hypercar".
@@Oscar97ocan you not read?
LMH/LMDh is the car
GTP (imsa) and Hypercar (WEC) are the class names
@@chiefdenisHe's actually right... The ACO never actually defined what h means in LMDh, most people just assume it means hybrid.
A hyundai turbo 4 cylinder in lmdh would be excellent
🙃i can get .... exited
Why not? it something we don’t already have on the grid
Their efficiency would be off that charts if they can somehow make it reliable. Small engine = less friction = more efficient. If all things are equal that is.
Why would they though? Sounds expensive af to develop something like that from 0. They can just use the Pipo V8 that is basically two of their WRC engines clashed together.
The wrc engine with that antilag? Its sounds great but reliability for endurance racing is probably not good
Cyril+FX+Jackie+Pipo ? Good team !
McLaren keeps also teasing that they will build a LMDh but let’s see if they actually commit to it. Plus we know Ford has been watching LMDh from the start and seems interested but it’s just a matter of convincing the board. Hopefully the Mustangs success at Le Mans and the customers interest being high in the GT3/4 is enough to convince them to go ahead with it as well.
I did not even know that Ford was interested. Here's hoping...
I think it's highly unlikely Ford will enter with and LMDh given that they just started with GT3 this year. Heres hoping...
@@chrissamarottowell GM has a GTD and a GTP program so who knows what Ford might do in the future.
LMDh with Ford GT styling 🙏😍
Zak Brown was hanging out in the Toyota garage at Le Mans. It’s hard to say what that means, but personally given he owns United Autosport, he may be trying position themselves into a customer Toyota program for IMSA rather than a Mclaren entry.
They’re certainly weighing options, LMDh is cheap to enter but it may be more advantageous to operate a proven LMH chassis that may technically have a higher capacity for performance than LMDh
have they finally pulled the trigger on it? they've been sniffing around since at least the LMP900 days...
This is incredible, we must thank the Americans for the LMDH regulation, since it made it possible for companies with a smaller budget to join this category, and the truth is that the fan is not thinking that "that is an LMDH, that is an LMH" The only thing fans see is that there are many brands competing with 700 horsepower cars!!!! In Le Mans! It's a dream!!!
Great content!
I hope your channel will continue to grow which will bring motivation for you to produce more content. I will like every video content as long as your content stays true to the stuff that you've been doing.
That Glickenhaus was a gorgeous car, and really stood out amongst the rest of the LMH field. It's too bad they weren't able to be more competitive or stick around as rules change, but such is the way.
The car is competitive as it's should be
The money they have is the problem
Plus they hate 2500 road regular car (it could be cheap hatchback, pickups or else) sell rules
I’m curious about what you think the new new LMP2 rules will be like. The idea of them being smaller lighter and more nimble does sound pretty exciting. I wonder if they will end up closer to what current/next Gen LMP3s will be like.
Thanks for the video. A highlight of my RUclips weekly journey
If this continues like that, WEC could become the series, F1 fans hoped for!
No! No! No! Block it immediately! Gatekeep the LMDh! Oh, wait.... It's not the F1!😅
More manufacturers/teams are always better than less 👍
More than teams, I love the sport. This is amazing news!
Always great to see new brands going for it (while there's already many others competing).
Nice!! Another interesting manufactured in WEC series! All is perfect. Except. .. please Hyundai don't use that " MAGMA" name on the new Racecar. Lol
Good news! Hyundai were kind of the obvious choice to join with the recent successes of the N brand. I am surprised however that they choose the Pipo Moteurs engine instead of developing their own. They have a number of V6s and a V8, including a new V6 with an electric turbo in the Genesis G90.
Here's a different approach...
Instead of using Pipo as a supplier, what if Hyundai is working with them to develop a racing version of the Genesis engines, be it the V8 or the single/twin turbo V6.
Remember, the rules state that it has to be of production basis of the manufacturer.
Bryan Herta Motorsports are also a likely partner here in the US (they’ve run Hyundai’s touring car program here in the US and have been very successful.) if ganassi runs some form of LMP2 type program next year, I would take it for granted that that team will be the Genesis team the next year. BHM might run a second/third car.
Is Joest still operating as a team? I haven’t heard from them since their Mazda stint a few years ago, but I would think running a Hyundai WEC program would be right up their alley
This is exciting news, honestly. Hypercar is growing! I hope they end up green lighting this program!
Genuine question, if the engine is French, the chassis is bought and even the on track team isn't from Hyundai, what does a manufacturer bring to a racing team? Just the money?
Well yeah. I mean look at Alpine. They had a 2nd hand grandfathered LMP1 that wasn’t built by them. Now they have an LMDh that utilizes a monocoque from one of the 4 outlined manufacturers and a modified engine from Mecachrome.
Money is the most important part
They still design the bodywork and aero - while LMDh is a customer chassis, there’s still freedom within that. The BMW and Cadillac are both Dallara customers, but obviously they have very different bodywork and aero. Same story with Acura and Alpine, which are both Oreca
If Hyundai is after respect then they will have to make their own engine. The company already has a shoddy reputation for engine reliability and failure. Could be a way forward to help their ailing engine programs for street vehicles.
@@not_even_me5035 true
Hear that Mr glick
Maybe Chip Ganassi Racing can run the Genesis in IMSA
Still hoping Mercedes joins LMH, or at least enter the ///AMG-GT3 in LM-GT3.
Could work out very well for Merc, kinda like how Ferrari are killing it in Endurance since F1 budget caps forced them to cut costs by offloading staff to non-F1 race cars.
Very competitive Le Man/WEC races in 2025 with Aston's & now Hyundai's entry.
Maybe a return from sauber Mercedes now sauber is out of F1
Mercedes not interested in lmh
Actually years ago ACO fully accept if AMG one eligible to race at le mans but under BoP rules of course
But what do they get is reject
By mocking BoP rules and race with such cheap budget lmdh
Now the only thing Mercedes want from WEC is to join lmgt3 class with agree torque sensor in it
Not sure what ACO decision about that
what are the Fonts from this info?
Think they said during the Le Mans 24 hours coverage that there might be a growing desire to grow the Asian manufacturers. Would be awesome to see Nissan and Mazda join either the Asian Le Mans series or WEC
Wow, I wasn't expecting that at all.
More brands = better !!
BTW, this might be even slower than Peugeot :)
This would be great news, another one, and they don't stop coming let's goooooo 😁
0:18 reminds me of the Mazda Furai
Indeed, it does. It's their "Vision Gran Turismo" concept from Gran Turismo 7. A pretty cool playground for vehicle designers/engineers.
SO THATS WHY JK.Vernay is in Isotta Fransquini this season!
I keep a pretty close eye on current racing news. Where did you get this information or is this speculation? Haven't seen anything official on many racing websites. Enjoy your videos nonetheless.
That would be great for Hyundai Kia Genesis...but I still only root for teams running Porsche power.
Please let the Vision Gran Turismo car be real that would be amazing🙏
Hyundai has dominated WRC before.
WEC makes perfect sense to extend their R&D!
this is the first fully functional car that resembles a Gran Turismo vision car irl
What? We don't even have any pictures of the car yet
@@Maverick9k the one in the thumbnail?
@EL100TIFIKO_01 That's just a picture of the Gran Turismo vision car.
That is not a picture or even a concept image of what the real LMDH car will be.
@@Maverick9k oh ok
The Pipo Moteurs deal would mean disaster for the future of the alpine F1 engines. Either Mecachrome finally gets the engines right or Renault can kiss goodbye their F1 hopes for a front runner
Thanks.
Keep cooking Hyundai 🔥🇰🇷
If they are planning to produce sports cars under a new brand, will they be rear wheel drive and therefore be the successor to the Genesis Coupe that people have been asking for for years or will it be another front wheel drive sports car like the Hyundai Tiburon? Or worse, what if they make a high performance SUV? Will it even be powered by an engine or will it be an EV since it would be a new brand and therefore they wouldn't have to worry about pissing off an existing fanbase by making an EV sports car?
Word is that Hyundai will use Pipo Moteurs for the power unit. If Hyundai wants respect, they will have to make their own engine.
Is it not a vgt car in gt7?
It is but we don't have the actual hypercar design from Hyundai yet so that's just placeholder images
I'm not particularly into American sports car racing, mainly because I don't have the time to watch it along with everything else, but the more competition the better as far as I'm concerned. None of the snobbery that is blighting F1 at the moment.
Apart from money, what hardware comes from Hyundai if neither chassis nor engine/transmission has any connection to the brand? Is it justified to call it the "manufacturer" of a racing car? One of the interesting aspects of LMH / LMDh should be the competition between the manufacturers (even if with LMDh it is only the engine that comes from the brand name).
Looking unique. Let's hope we don't get the Hypercar equavilent of the LMP1 Nissan.
It's not going to look like that
Honda missing out all the fun in WEC lmao
lets go!
Where are they gonna fit on the WEC grid lol
They should develop their own race engine instead of building a kit car :D
Hmmm very interesting 🤔
The More the Merrier!
They should've gone with the LMH. We need real competition at Le Mans, and that is the only way.
tjey should do lmh..
I'm sure if you would like to be the title sponsor and bankroll it they would.
Why is Jota moving away from Porsche though?
Because they seem to be the best contenders to take over the Cadillac factory programme
@@albert_gyorgy actually, it already confirmed
Sad to go the LMDh route
Why? LMDh cars are just as fast
@@not_even_me5035 As we have seen at Le Mans this year, no. LMDh is just slower in race pace and mixed conditions.
@@sbeve7445 not really... LMDh cars have won multiple races this year... Le Mans was just one example, you can't make a blanket statement with a sample size of 1, especially since the Porsche 963s and the were incredibly fast, until encountering issues mostly unrelated to pace.

Unfortunately there is no confirmation whatsoever from Hyundai about any of this.
So does McLaren
You know back then Lamborghini sc63 coming out of nowhere too
While Alpine already confirmed once they done with lmp1 chassis they start develop lmdh at same time race with lmp2 class

I am the only one that dont like lmdh? Everything is bought and put togheter
Yeah probably. Considering how most of the LMDh teams built their own engines and designed the bodywork/aero off of a spec spine. I really don't see why you'd dislike it.
Still they have to design the bodywork and engine. But i have more respect for LMH manufacturers that design everything from scratch by themselves. But in term of costs can't deny that Lmdh is better
Yes, to be more specific i think that must be prohibited to simply put the Money and assembly third parts togheter, like Hyundai seems to be doing now.
Manufacturers losing interest im hydrogen race cars? Who would've thought. Hydrogen combustion is a complete waste of time.
Hyundai still interested, but for them it fuel cell. Ofc both are allowed in potential new hydrogen class
Renault guy goes to Hyundai and they have no more titles.
So this car is Korean in name only 💔
Oh, another brand exercise where everything is sourced from somewhere else. Lame.
If what you say in the video is indeed how things play out, they buy a fixed chassis and apply some Hyundai styling to it, stick an engine they had nothing to do with in it and call it a Hyundai, I am really underwhelmed what the regulations produce. If there is so little need or incentive to produce a race car themselves, this is more like Nascar. At least some teams develop their cars and engines themselves, and they are very much held back by BoP so that the more "lazy" competitors can be competitve too. Even if I don't want something like LMP1 with only 1 brand running, having set the point of entry for new teams so low, it also cheapens the series. Less critical fans may not know or care, but to me, I feel a bit torn by it.
Well, from the last le mans we can see that LMH still holds a massive advantage over LMDh at race pace
It's like AlfaRomeo in F1, just a sticker. Remember the time when manufacturers, even smaller ones did everything or mostly by themselves? If Hyundai does it the way you said then it's not a Hyundai
