Regarding the members' facial expressions \ emotions on display and why it feels like this performance is better than the studio version, I believe we have to give it up for another genius Simon move. For those who might not know, for the shooting of the mv it was arranged to surprise the members with video messages from their family whom they haven't seen for while. As we can see in the mv and footage from the behind the scenes, the members had a very emotional reaction. What has been created for them is a very strong emotional moment that is directly linked with the song Winter Without You, allowing the members to access this emotional memory very eaily and thus imbue their performance of the song with this emotion. So in one move Simon took care of the members emotionally by giving them a link with their parents, created a memorable moment for the mv and bts, and gave the members an efficient and powerful performing tool. That is why legitimately no one is doing it like XG!!!!
Sounds like hidden agenda of emotional manipulation for profit but that’s just me being blunt (I’ve watched too many music industry documentaries) but I agree he did a smart move😂
