There are a whack of churches in our small town. I'm going to use left over 2 x 6 pieces to make crosses like the one he made. I'm also going to personalize them the church's name with my CNC using a very small bit. Then I'll send one to each church with a note telling them for $10 anyone else can have a personalized one. Thanks for the idea!!! You rock!
Great video! Thank you! I use a lot of scrap in my projects as well. And I spite every piece of wood that goes into the burn pile (even though they're pretty small by that time.) I also reclaim a lot of materials. Ever since I was a kid, I've always found something satisfying in taking a piece that was destined for a landfill and making something desirable out of it.
I Love working with scrap wood, taking something that was thrown away by someone else because they couldn't see the value/worth potential and I give it a 2nd Life by turning it into something else with a new purpose
Great ideas! I've also made coasters and wine caddies out of scrap wood. I've made several desk clocks using a clock insert. I've used scraps as outlet/light switch plates. I bet you could make house number posts with the barrel staves for setting/mounting near the front door or mailbox of a residence or business.
Great video. Thanks for the awesome info. I like to use my scraps for various scroll saw projects, usually toys for my grandson. Airplanes, helicopters, boats, etc. Looking forward to checking out your other videos 👍🏽
This just came across my feed. Some good content and simple things you can make so i subscribed. I mill most of my wood and literally over run with offcuts and scrap. I throw away bunch but do save a little. Trying to sell things at markets is tough around here due to me living in a smalll rural town. I can see people buying these smalls if the selling prices can be low. Thanks for the information!
Always like watching your videos. Thank you for sharing. I like making trays for gifts. Will change the shapes so that it will work around knots and rough edges.
They make hanging boxes to put beneath the bottle openers to catch the caps. Might be another addition to make it more pricey with the favorite beverage engraved on it. :)~
Amazing video! Very useful to get some ideas, I found a bunch of barrels for 40-50£ in the UK close to me so I will definetly go and get one to see what I can craft out of it!
Thanks for all the ideas and info, anyway you could make a vid about the coaster set and trays? I'd love to see how you set up the cut files for those.
Hey Brother. This is probably my 5th or 6th time watching this video, but RUclips put it back in my feed, i guess cause I kept scrolling through too much other stuff. So, I think I'll another comment, cause algorithm.!?🤔😎
Good video and good ideas. I’m a rookie at this so I am honing my skills before I retire and make stuff after. So far I’ve only given stuff away and no one has returned any of it lol, I guess that’s a good sign.
I don't have a video on that specific tray, but I do have one on a similar tray. See this link. ruclips.net/video/wpxvkExpzX4/видео.htmlsi=SIcgc3uodW9KBmpd
A few. I had someone ask for a LARGE ONE, which is the one shown on the altar. After I posted that, I had several people ask to preorder. But I stumbled onto this project, and it was fun to do. each one is a little different when you sand/distress it.
A “Southpaw” is a left handed person. I’m also a Rocky fan, who was a southpaw. But I’m Rocky 4, he had a personalized plate on his sports car, that only supported 7 letters….. SOTHPAW.
Danville, about 30 miles south of Lex. I actually lived in Independence for a few months right after college, working at a restaurant inside of Florence Mall for a little while.
I've gotten a couple from local breweries that have used them for aging beers. Also, you can try contacting distilleries directly. I live about a mile from one, and have contacted them before.
I’m making the flight caddy for the brewery, how do you get the bottom of the beer slot flat with a forstner bit instead of having that small hole in the middle of the hole?
I’m in Danville, right in the middle of several distilleries. You can often find them for sale at microbreweries who barrel age beer, and sometimes directly from the distilleries themselves, although from my experience, they’d often rather sell them in bulk, instead of 1-2 at a time. Facebook marketplace is also a good way to go.
Thank for the ideas. I do have a question for you. I have made a few things with the barrel stev’s. Anyway my question is how do you attach the strap to the shelf. All of my stev’s are recycled planter boxes or heavily painted. This is some hard-A wood. I couldn’t tell you how bits I have broken trying to drill a hole. I am a newbie type when it comes to word working.
I drill a hole into the metal band, then just use a small screw to screw it in. it can be tough, I just take my time and really just give it a starter hole, then manually screw them in usually.
How in the F does your scrap wood pile only have like 20 pieces in it? 60% of my shop is scrap wood AND I have a wood burning stove for heat so I burn a ton of it as well.
Actually we have a Distillery right down the road from me. It wouldn't be hard to ask someone for the wooden pallets 4 barrels or anything of that nature people need to stop being lazy and get and dude. As I said to another commenter there are surely factories and warehouses and stuff in your area they just throw the stuff in the dumpster when they break. And has he pointed out a good lot of the times they're not going to ever be used again. Edit I live in Tennessee and specifically in the Middle Tennessee area we have a lot of people that are making wine and things around the area as well too. It isn't hard to ask them either.. What's your region go online. There are online Things 2 Peri-Peri I swear nobody has any Ingenuity or thinks about anything these days Beyond being lazy and looking at their phone.
For some of those prices I wouldn't even bother. I get that you're using scraps, but you still have time and overhead in making and selling this stuff.
It's not illegal. If you ask there places that probably have old pieces of wood or something like that. I wouldn't go to little scrap yard since they have metal. But there are places that you can find wood case point because they do have pallets that we're out and they don't need them same thing with grocery stores any type Warehouse. You can go to your local hardware store and ask them if they have some old wood that you would pay little for or nothing because they probably have things if they're getting rid of as well. Also look if someone's demolishing all houses and things like that. You can actually get good scrap both metal and wood out of something like that

Great to see another woodworking enthusiast slash teacher! Keep up that grind man!
Thank you for giving us woodworkers some great ideas.
I love the Easter scene, but I’m in love w/ the barrel ideas!!!
I have a whole barrel in my shop that I need to start using.
Thank you for making this video. It is making me want a drink.
Cheers!!
Love that you showed Blantons in the video. I used to work at Buffalo Trace for many many years. Miss Kentucky.
I've toured many of the distilleries, but never Buffalo Trace so far.
I'm likin' this guy! I've subscribed to lots of others, but he shows the easiest stuff to make that will make money. Cheers!

The Easter set is brilliant. I could see making/selling similar units for a church fundraiser. Thank you for sharing.
"No more rhyming! I mean it!" Great shirt! Thanks for the video - I got a few new ideas.

I always wanted to get more into woodworking. Thanks for the video.
This is EPIC!

Happy Easter weekend
Love that shirt, one of my favorite movies. Nice projects too 😉
All I could see from that first piece of scrap wood you pulled out was the “Hey Arnold” character, Gerald. 😂

Glad you liked it! Thank you!
Wonderful video.
I'm looking for good ideas for my children and grandchildren to do together and these really hit the bullseye!

Cool, I’m in Georgetown, raised in Grant county.

I've gotten a couple from local breweries that have used them for aging beers. Also, you can try contacting distilleries directly. I live about a mile from one, and have contacted them before.
Just wondering...do you steam & flatten your staves for the key chain hook rack/coat rack to be mounted on the wall?
No, I just cut them flat on the back side so I can add mounts
@@SothpawDesignsthanks for the response. & Great freaking content ole son.
I’m making the flight caddy for the brewery, how do you get the bottom of the beer slot flat with a forstner bit instead of having that small hole in the middle of the hole?
Some Forster bits have a screw that you can use to unscrew and remove the little guide. Just depends on your bits.
What is a flight board used for?
Small beer samples. Usually 4 ounces each
How are you selling all this cool stuff?
Facebook, friends, my website, local customers.
