For Chappell the battle was about artist rights. For Ye it’s about his personal pockets.
@@MRLONG758 Netflix wasn't around back then so that was not part of Daves thinking at all. Dave was standing on business in a real way and didnt want to become a puppet for Comedy Central. Dave was a star already but not a mega star and he didnt have millions on top of millions yet. He was a millionaire for sure and he had put in years of work already but that was the start of the world knowing him and he wanted to do it his way. He didnt want comedy Central changing his show or making him do certain skits and marketing/advertising commercials that were cheesy af and not true to himself. So he walked out. Kanye knew from Day 1 that Adidas owned the patent to his shoes. This is public information and anyone can look it up. If I can look it up so could his lawyers who agreed to the deal. He licensed his name to them the same way Trump licensed his name on those buildings in NYC.
Bingo. This is literally why he said he left Nike and then bragged about how Adidas gave him creative influence and control. Then we find out after the fact he hoe'd himself out by signing the licensing deal that gave them everything as far as his IP.

We watched Nike literally give Kyrie's shoe to Ja Morant. Literally the same damn shoe with a different name, this is nothing new.
Only difference is the design was Nike's to begin with and they can repurpose them as the see fit. That's why Ye left Nike, because they wouldn't let him design his shoes. Adidas allowed him that ability but then put it in the contract anything created under their umbrella is theirs to do with as they see fit. They only thing he didn't sign away to the was Yeezy brand but they can still sell the shoes they own with his branding because he signed that contract allowing them to.

Flip, I'ma help you on this question. Why does Kanye have to be criticized publicly? He doesn't have to be. But, just like "regular people" who use social media, when you do or say public things, you get public responses. You don't get the freedom to do or say something in public, and then tell people to mind their business. Add to that, Kanye only does this shenanigans when he has something to sell. So, he says and does polarizing things publicly to get attention, and then expects sympathy if it rubbed people the wrong way. And enough people have seen this over and over to say, nah, I'm good. What’s the point of signing a contract for a deal you negotiated with some of them best lawyers only to complain about? If Kanye signed for the shoes he not some upcoming youngster looking for a record deal to feed his family. No by that point he was already a super famous, super powerful, multimillionaire, and with access to the best lawyers. Him and his lawyers knew from day one that the show company would actually own the patent to the shows and Kanye was licensing his name. In exchange they gave him creative control and money to produce the shoes he wanted to produce. He’s playing the victim when he is in fact the chief victimizer

Once he went out there and started talking crazy for years it finally caught up to him and we find out HE signed a contract that gave Adidas the rights to his creation and the use of his name after the fact, he wants people to feel sorry for him for being stupid? As much as JBP talks about artistic control there's no reason for Flip to try and justify Ye's antics here, he's not some street hustler or broke college athlete, he had the means to afford attorney's that could've worked a better deal for him. Looking back at it, Nike did him a favor with their licensing deal as the took nothing from him on the backend.
