First of all, i have a Rolex datejust with Jubilee bracelet so I don't appreciate the shade lol however I do think you are right on your pros and cons of Cartier quartz vs automatic and lets be honest Cartier is more jewellery and if you are buying a watch because of its automatic clock movement I think there are other brands that come out stronger than Cartier one being Rolex :) I also toyed with the idea of the quartz vs mechanical for Cartier ...i just thought it was insane that Cartier charge so much for their Quartz range but then i said to myself why do I want Cartier watch ..more for the look than what it can do (be honest) and their quartz batteries last so much longer and i think are cheaper to eventually change (my SA told me about 50 euros to update battery) vs a few hundred to service with an automatic.
Haha, the shade is for the dramatic effect ;) I actually disagree a little about Cartier being more jewelry, because Santos Dumont watch was first made in 1904 (way before the love collection, which was created to imitate this specific watch btw), and I think it's one of the most classic and timeless watches in the world. Automatic movement Ballon watch I got in the past might have needed service and I can't judge the rest of the Cartier watches based on that one. I think for such an extravagant "watch lover" like me, quartz movement is the way to go.

Agree with Rolex I received as a gift I have worn it less than 5 times in 3 years. I am so happy you are wearing the frivole necklace. Now it’s going to be a hard choice between the pave and this one because it looks so good on you!! My daughter says I should go with the one you are wearing because it’s more everyday and I will get more use out of it.

Seeing as you made the comparison between Rolex and Cartier love bracelet and VCA alhambra (now ubiquitous and many copies), if you can turn back the clock, would you choose to no longer buy the Cartier love and VCA?
Good question! I would buy less, one love and one vintage alhambra bracelet is more than enough for when the mood strikes.

Beautiful watch. I haven’t really been a fan of leather straps but this one looks beautiful. I am however a bit offended😅 I wear a Rolex. Love it! I’ve had it for over 20 years. It was my first “luxury” purchase. I have the oyster bracelet. It’s very not flashy. It’s the Air King model. All steel. I got when it was first introduced many years ago. It’s a very IYKYK watch. Anyhoo, good luck in acting school!😘

Rolex, Cartier, AP, Patek, etc etc is everywhere also the Richard Mille you can see it on a lot of people. So for me these watches are not special or rare to see. So for me it is you like a watch or not. Brand names are these days everywhere. Maybe if you buy a non designer branded one that one would be special ;-)

I agree with OP. Santos Dumont is very well known to a watch person. But most are not watch people and do not even look at watches. Just wear whatever you like and wear in good health!
