Oh how lovely to have more options 😍👏 I hope one day you'll have some more fonts for body text - being able to do like a paragraph of "handwritten notes" within Atticus would be so nice. Great update and I love how Atticus is always moving forward 😍👏
There's much more that goes into the programming for body fonts, so I can't make any promises about new fonts there at this time, but you can highlight a paragraph and set it as one of your sub-headings. This way you can adjust that subheading font choice and size in the theme settings and easily create handwritten notes! I hope that helps!
@@AtticusWriter It does help a bit, untill you need to do different fonts for different characters handwriting 😅 While on the subject, any chance you'll be adding a text message feature integration? so one can create text message "bubbles" directly in Atticus? 😊
You can create text messages@@rosanarainhart ! If you look in the toolbar, there's an icon that looks like two chat bubbles. For different characters, you can set up different subheading styles - you have up to 5 fonts you can set.
I'm so glad you like the suprise! Likely you won't be able to use them for body fonts, but we may still have alternative options in the future. There's just too much risk of incompatibility and formatting issues to make that many fonts available for the body.
@@AtticusWriter Oh interesting! I don't really understand the technical reasons though, so I can still hope it will happen one day 😁 Have a happy Easter
Thanks for the great video. More and more each week I am tempted to purchase this software and I feel I will in a few weeks. So, am I correct in saying that the fonts available will work with Kindles and other ereaders if we choose a particular font other than the usual suspects i.e. Times New Roman, Arial, Calibri etc.?
Just the chapter headings and subheadings. The body font will always be decided by the individual eReader's device preference settings for their reading comfort. I hope that makes sense!
We don't currently recommend using emojis or UTF-8 icons, as there's no guarantee how they will appear across different devices and apps. Emojis may not display correctly on platforms like Kindle, Nook, and may not embed into PDF files.
AHHHHH YAY!! Random side note, this is completely different from the fonts update, but how do you change your profile picture in the Atticus software? I've tried doing it several times but it hasn't ever kept the picture. Does it need to be a certain size?
I'm so glad you like the font update! The profile might not work perfectly right now, we're working on that. However it doesn't affect anything at all in your exports!
@@AtticusWriter Well, it's not like I haven't tried. But, I find too much conflicting information to derive any meaningful direction. Sometimes I feel like good old Times New Roman is the best answer. Just use TNR and don't even think about it any more. LoL
TNR isn't free for commercial use though...But any of the fonts inside Atticus will work for the Body - you can't go wrong with them!@@NathanGregoryAuthor
This is a great feature--however when I chose one to add to favorites it didn't load into the dropdown in the formatting theme. I logged out and back in.
To add a sneak peek, you'd just want to click the three dots beside the Add a Chapter button to Import Chapters (assuming you have your chapters saved by themselves in a Word docx). Atticus will ask if you want to import as a new Volume, click NO. Since you won't want it to be numbered consecutively with the rest of your chapters, you can click the three dots beside the title of your sneak peek chapters in the left navigation and uncheck Numbered. I hope that helps!
@@AtticusWriter Okay cool. I've been checking out all the cool fonts, but those two just kept twirling and twirling, never loading in the preview. Thanks again for all the neat fonts!
You should see a similar icon in your browser bar itself that will work, but if you still have trouble, write into our support email and the team will help!
Atticus gets better and better. Thanks to everyone involved. Your hard work is very much appreciated. ❤
So glad you like it!
Thank you ATTICUS! You make self-publishing a breeze (and a blast). Now I can use Allison, which is on my cover, for subtitles within my book.
So happy this will work out for you, that's fantastic!

@@rosanarainhart It actually already has that. Came out with text message bubbles about 2 months ago :)

I write dystopian / post-apoc and I'm looking forward to using EB Garamond (body) and Montserrat (chapter headings). Thanks for the upgrade!

Thanks for all the new fonts. Now, how do I decide what I should use in my science fiction stories?
That would be something you'll want to do some genre research on - a topic I may cover in future videos!

Are these fonts free to use when you publish or do you still need to purchase the rights to publish with them?
Free for you to use when you publish :)
Like @Kindlepreneur said, absolutely free to use! We're very careful to protect our authors!
Is there a way you can make the drop down cap a separate font from the rest of the body?
Not right now, but we are working on an update to give more options!
Unfortunately, I want to use a non-Google licensed font like Word can. Maybe someday...
Maybe! We're still working on options for user-imported fonts, but there is a lot of red tape to be aware of - we'll keep working!
