"The Cult" -Super awesome Guys! I Love this Band. They are NOT Hair Metal. I have never known nor heard them referred to as Hair-Metal??? To me & my fellow peers down here in New Zealand we first saw the band as Rock with a punkish edge, as well as 'British-Gothic' Rock. I'm glad they were nowhere near commercial in the beginning But I noticed that became the norm in the late 80's early 90's onwards. Cant deny it though, Ian's Voice is one of the best & that mane of Hair he had was Gorgeous. I fell in love with the Band straight away & Ian Astbury was 'the strawberry on the top' in multiple ways, eg. Ian's Strong distinctive voice, that thick mane of flowing black locks, the porcelain-like skin, a man in make-up, aaaahhhhh, need I go on? P.S. Song requests: 'Edie(Ciao, baby)', 'Painted on my Heart', 'She sells Sanctuary', etc. All are Masterpieces in their own right!
Although "Sonic Temple" was The Cults American crossover album with "Fire Woman" getting the major airplay, I felt that their previous two albums, "Love" and "Electric" were far superior. I believe that if they would have crossed over with the "Electric" album, they would have had more success in the U.S.
Thaank you! love, that you share my appreciation for this underrated band. love them forever. they were ahead of their time. cool dad, by the way. greetings from germany.
Ian Astbury reminds me much more of Steven Tyler more than anyone else, in terms of vocal style and his choice of stage attire. I had the privilege of meeting him back in the late 80s after they opened for ACDC. He was at a hotel across the street from the venue, just sitting on a bench in front of the hotel. He was the most humble, down to earth musicians I've ever met. Absolutely zero ego, and he really cared what his fans thought. Just that encounter and seeing The Cult live cemented them as 1 of my favorite bands.
For those who might care, this is not Matt Sorum actually playing drums on this song (or the entire Sonic Temple album). Mickey Curry actually played all of the drums on the Sonic Temple album in the studio. People may know Curry from Hall & Oates or Bryan Adams. Curry has played in the studio on a number of albums by more heavy rock oriented groups including The Cult and Alice Cooper (believe it or not). This is indeed Matt Sorum in the video, but what you're actually hearing on the drums is Mickey Curry. Just factual info for those who might care.
I love the Cult and I feel they were so underrated and wished they were bigger. if you do more of The Cult please react to Firewoman, She sells Sanctuary, Love Removal machine,
I don't listen to The Cult often,,,but when I do so does My neighborhood,,, Oliver stone wanted Ian but they wanted to get an Actor more than a singer to play the part...Billy Duffy was I think ,asked to play with the Smiths...Damn fine guitarist ...Can you look at Johnny Marr,"GETTING AWAY WITH IT"... Live version ...
One of the best rock bands ever! So underrated. The Cult from Love to Electric to Sonic Temple were on top of their game. All 3 albums were completely different. They weren't radio friendly but listen to their catalog and you won't be disappointed.
Matt Sorum was also the drummer for Tori Amos believe it or not... he actually played for her original band before he ever went on to play for The Cult or Guns n' Roses.
Came from sonic TEMPLE and I made a tape for a freind of just FIRE songs and there were 51 songs on it so dont think they had a few songs they have a plethora of great songs.
Ian Astbury went on to replace Jim Morrison for The Doors tours, in between making cult albums. Rick Rubin produced at least one of their early albums before he became the world famous producer he is.

Yeah there's definitely a problem with trying to define bands, it never does them justice!
Duffy tearing it up with his Gretsch White Falcon!!!!
I love The Cult they should have been a lot bigger than what they were. They started out as a goth rock before moving more towards hard rock
It is a must hearing the original version of Sweet Soul Sister in its true glory, as this is the strangely edited one....There is a big difference.
Totally agree
The Cult are one of my fav bands they’re tour every year still. Billy Duffys the best.
Billy Duffy - The master of powerchords :) !
Luv the cult. Seen them live a few times. Very underrated band
I've been waiting forever and a day for someone to react to this song. You just made my day. Thanks fellas, keep up the great work!
you're dad has excellent tastes.

No. Sonic Temple is superior in every single way. Even Ceremony is better than Electric.
Your dad has the same music taste as I do. React to Fire Woman by The Cult. It was a huge radio & MTV hit.
Love the cult
The cult=all time bad ass band. See them live back during this tour......unforgettable. they definitely were alternative with a hard edge.

Ian was favourite to play Jim Morrison in Oliver stone's The Doors...
Ian Astburys a hell of a lot better than Glen ( MOMMA) Danzig - great reaction sir and keep up the great work
They where the badasses of 8th grade

Billy Duffy, guitar god!!!!
My cousin Mike (rest in peace)got me hooked on The Cult.
Love that dad is representin' the White Lion...The Cult is not hair metal.. they were more UK goth/punk
Dad does not lie they are something different
Great reaction!..Ian Astburys voice is a combination of leather and lipstick!
Early days listen to Southern Death Cult
Cool Dad!
lol! Zack would have been young at this time.
definitely react to fire woman by the Cult.
You should of reacted to one of there good songs! ie Rain, She sells Sanctuary, Fire Woman!
Check out ian astbury singing with the doors! Its quite surreal. Hes not the bastard son of Morrison, but I can see why youd think so.
Good guys - listen to your father. Especially if he loves Depp Purple....he will.
They opened for Metallica on this tour. It was the justice tour.
This is from their show in Wembley Arena. Only The Cult
Matt Sorum was also the drummer for Tori Amos believe it or not... he actually played for her original band before he ever went on to play for The Cult or Guns n' Roses.
Your dad reminds me of Mike Scheidt the singer of psyche doom band Yob
Good on you dad! They started out as a n alt rock band, then after “Love “ went rock with “Electric “
They were your average band back then .. there was so many fkn kick ass bands in these days ...
I liked this song. The cult was cool. Check out some dokken
Came from sonic TEMPLE and I made a tape for a freind of just FIRE songs and there were 51 songs on it so dont think they had a few songs they have a plethora of great songs.
It's Astbury. The hottest front man since Morrison!
I still hate how the breakdown was edited.
Check out Southern Death Cult, Death Cult. Still Ian just a way different hairdo. Among other aspects.
Sonic temple
Tesla. C'mon guys
The cult didn't sell their souls unlike U2 the Beatles etc from uk
. Number 13, eadie? Spelt wrong! Flip sides of singles produced best songs!
Original guitar intro to this song is much better than this one.
Ian Astbury went on to replace Jim Morrison for The Doors tours, in between making cult albums.
Rick Rubin produced at least one of their early albums before he became the world famous producer he is.
