Ranger takes a fireball to the head from far away, then has the whole group stacking against a door with no pressure whatsoever while the wizard is freely and safely casting chain lightning multiple times without getting shot by an arrow once, then cries about how broken mages are. Music to my ears.
That's not my point at all lmao, the reason wizards are completely busted as it is is because of haste and invisibility. None of these mechanics came into play as to why the ranger died here. My point is that he's one of the classes that can make wizard think twice about casting , and he did many mistakes that cost his life along with his team, then instead of noticing those issues decided to just cry about mages. Also I fucking hate rangers regardless of leaderboards, so there's that too.@@Btuz97
@@Btuz97as of now, there's only like 2 wiz on leaderboards, plus leaderboards are an awful example since not only do they show only the top 1% of the player base, but also since most people at that high of a place for a while we're running buffball meta, which doesn't compliment ranger much
I mean.... devs wouldnt keep nerfing wizards if the server statistics didnt support it. Lol. Wizards are in a rough place because they are under tuned for 1v1 but overtuned in 3v3. Hard class to balance right. But also, fuck rangers 😂
The only issue mages have in 1v1 is that they get one tapped by any ranger with a green longbow, and any rogue with a green weapon tbh. The other reason they are so strong in 3v3 is the deathball meta ; haste + invis is way too strong, and it's the part that offers the least counterplay in the whole kit of the mage. Their damage might get out of hand, and you can't really do anything when they just zap you to death, but the core issue is and has always been haste + invis. As a mage enjoyer, I think they should honestly big dick it and just remove those abilities, it's just that good.@@Flavalicious
For the 11:40 clip: Honestly we did mess up. We walked towards the shrine, saw a team, ranger tanked an avoidable fireball, we ran and got rolled. Fireball should've been avoided then I either A. keep my space to prevent chains, B. hold the doorway above stairs to stall for team/maybe I trade with barb, C. we fallback to the way we came from and play the choke with earthquake. But even after all this wizard spells are a little overtuned. It's the scaling that needs to get looked at just a bit.
I cant help but disagree with changing the damage scaling on the mage, that is the entire point of the class. He is 1 maybe 2 shot with gear. Your archer hit him in the body once which is what stalled the 2nd chain from being cast straight after the 1st. If any of you did anything other than panic at the door and let the cleric try to open it (the worst guy on your team for resourcefulness) and tried to keep sniping the mage that battle would've been a lot different. The bow was in hand yet no arrows were being fired, that's got nothing to do with the mage's spells as under the same criteria you could beat someone with a handcrossbow. Legit 1 more arrow into the chain casting mage and he flopped, panic killed you.
@thatguydan3548 yeah honestly that's pretty true but I just feel like it could he touched slightly. Idk I could be wrong. A lot of classes need to be touched there's lots of balance issues here and there.
@@medmad3 lmaoo. When this death happened we were upset about it but I looked back at the clip and showed it to someone and we kinda reviewed it quick. Didn't even expect it to be on a clip channel but since I saw it on here I thought I might as well explain
That "balanced" clip is in fact balanced. They funneled into a tiny corridor and then huddled together. their fighter pushed in and shield stuffed them at the doorway where the opening meets the top of the stairs, the fighter would force the mage to toss fireballs at the wall instead of charging chainlightnings. Giving the low health player time to open the door and leave. Then Fighter stows weapons, pops sprint (since it was still active) and jumps down and closes door behind them to force yet another fireball. By that time they would've disengaged enough so that the ranger could be a massive nuisance to the cleric/mage and have enough distance that the chain lightning is pointless. It's the equivalent of standing in a room and them complaining how OP chain lighting is despite hugging your friends to guarantee it hits everyone.
@@fromthe202 It's not even a cope. Look at their abilities. The fighter who didnt get hit with fireball was full HP and still had sprint up. Instead of splitting up they all head for the same door and they head for the same door *AFTER* the wizard reveals he has chain lightning. That is literally your qeueu to split up. It doesnt matter if they they target 1 person, it guarantees an escape option for someone rather than everyone hugging each other and dying to chain lightning. The full HP fighter could literally prevent *ALL* of them from pushing if he stayed in shield mode at the top of the stairs but away from the right side wall. The doorway *literally* prevents more than 1 person from entering and because the mage is chucking spells, that means the other 2 people wont push or would risk friendly fire. It's that simple.
I mean a naked wizard with a grey staff will chain lightning half the classes down to half hp in a single cast. It definitely feels bad on the recieving end lol. I started messing with it on my own mage and i also havent had it bounce back and friendly fire myself like it used to. But maybe im just at the right distance.
@@Flavalicious This would be statistically incorrect. a grey chain lightning does 45 damage on a dummy. Dummies get hit as if they were unarmored, meaning they suffer from that unarmored penalty that amplifies damage taken that they introduced a few patches ago. You aren't hitting the exact numbers you see on a dummy to a player due to their resistances. Meaning even a grey rogue can take 2 chain lightnings and then die on the 3rd one, as they have 84 health as each chain lightning would do less than 40 damage. No class will get set to Half HP with a single grey staff chain lightning because it is numerically just not possible unless they purposefully give themselves negative resistances. It feels bad to get hit by one because it usually means a mistake on the part of the receiving end. First, Chain lightning doesn't travel too far. Second, it means they were very close or huddled together. You wouldn't want to to this regardless because a mage has multiple AoE spells, cleric also has aoe spells. So getting hit by it usually means that they were out of position and poorly positioned. Seeing a mage in a 3v3 should immediately cause people to spread out a bit, not bundle together.
From that distance? Probably not and even if they did they had no way of knowing if it was just a healing pot. Also you cannot tell me it's a coincidence that each individual member swung in the same spot a good 5 times
