  • February 4 2021, ministers Meryame Kitir and Pierre-Yves Dermagne received a letter signed by 60 companies and business federations asking the Belgian government for a legal framework that obliges companies to take responsibility when it comes to respecting human rights and the environment in their supply chains.
“Today is an important step. We don’t need to convince companies, rather they are themselves asking the government to help them create a better framework for human rights,” says minister Kitir.
“A legal framework for due diligence is important for employees and the environment in general, but also to create a level playing field between companies,” adds minister Dermagne.
