K31-CAP Cold Mix Asphalt is specially designed for the construction and maintenance of wearing courses. Its paving thickness only requires 1, 1.5, or 2 inches. Construction is quick and easy.
K31-CAP cold mix asphalt is an effective preventive maintenance application that seals and waterproofs the surface while correcting minor defects, filling non-working ruts, and improving skid resistance and appearance. The thin surface is an excellent choice for city streets and freeways as well as high-traffic volume roads.
K31-CAP formulations and mix designs can be developed to meet a wide range of job requirements using a variety of aggregate types. An alternative to “hot mix asphalt (HMA)”, the term cold mix is derived from the incorporation of liquid asphalt emulsions at ambient temperatures, meaning that no heating is required to render the asphalt workable.

What weight/size of roller are they using? Or could you suggest a suitably sized roller for this type/scale of road construction? Also, can this type of road installation take place when it is raining or only during dry and hot weather conditions?
Harvey, you want to have a 10-12 ton vibrating compactor with rubber tires in the rear. It is waterproof but it can't be raining while building the road.

Durability is 5 to 10 years depending on use and maintenance. These roads are designed for traffic volumes of 1000-3000 vehicles per day. More than that you would need to lay a thin layer of asphalt to protect the surface.
