    Thanks everyone for watching my latest videos and bearing with me as I explore different formats! Let me know if you like this video and if you'd like to see other videos that are similar, I personally really enjoy the laid back process where I can share small art tips and tricks along the way.

    your channel is pure gold...thank u for this free content :)) maybe you could do a tutorial about drawing folds in clothing... i mean there are lot out there but still... the struggle is real.. especially quiet lose oversized blouses with thin material are like a nightmare.. lots of unpredictable and crazy folds and yeah... it drives me insane

    Love the video.
    Always nice to see you posting wherever.
    And for an Anime recomendation I don't know. I think that Kaiju N°8 is kinda Attack on Titans if was writted for the author of One Punch Man, so maybe you like it.
    But is a lot more heavy in sillyness than AoT.

    Amazing work! I think you should do a HxH one next, maybe Hisoka, The Phantom Troupe, Meruem, or Netero with the Bodhisattva, that'd be sick! Love your work man.

      I really like some of the characters in HxH, but man I can't get into the story haha, it's been really difficult for me to try and finish it, but maybe I'll keep giving it a shot!

    Sorry to hear about that man, I hope you find something better to watch in the future
    I liked the video. I'd like to hear more about brushwork, how to paint soft and hard stuff without specialized brushes and how to learn to do that as a beginner. Just anything about digital painting, I'm so damn confused.

    You have no idea how perfect the timing is for this video to drop because I have a question about painting. Would you say painting is more like sculpting or is it more about finding the exact shapes of things. Also how do you paint, would you say that you search for shapes when painting or are you thinking more like a graphic designer? On one hand I can know the form of something really well but somehow can’t invent shapes of the gecko when shading, but if I take a more sculptural mindset I can just paint normally and make it look super good and the shapes and forms sorta just get defined later naturally on their own. It’s so freaking weird man.

    • @ForrestImel
      @ForrestImel  Месяц назад +1

      I think it helps to chunk things into steps, when I am planning a painting I think more like a graphic designer where I am considering the overall shapes and adjusting them in a way I think works well, but then when I am rendering the actual image I think more like a sculptor where I am thinking of the individual planes of an object and how it would catch the light. This is something that is just really difficult to all do simultaneously without a lot of practice to where it becomes subconsciously thought of.

    Thanks a lot for the content! I really like your videos and find them very insightful :) I have a question regarding flow/force: is the "force" that Michael Mattesi talks about in his books very different than Michael Hampton's idea of flow in gestures? Because he also talks about this idea of asymmetry and flow in gesture drawing.

    • @ForrestImel
      @ForrestImel  Месяц назад

      it's very similar to the sort of asymmetrical flow through anatomy, although I think it's using that concept of asymmetry and flow to inform your decisions when exaggerating your anatomy, not just recognizing it as something that naturally happens but pushing those shapes even further. It's well worth picking it up if you haven't!

    Hi Forrest, I was wondering how do you go about controlling the half soft half hard edge brush? Do you adjust the angle with pen tilt, manually in the brush selection or just not at all?
