I think A&P were a little to harsh here.
Did she break a boundary? Yes, by talking about the injury.
Did she not speak up? Yes, I could imagine she was shocked.
Was the husband put in a hard position? Yes, but he did the right thing seemingly.
One important thing is she admits fault here. Broke up with those "friends". I can kind of forgive her for being shell-shocked (or a coward). With some time, or maybe therapy, the relationship should be able to push through.
    What do you think?

No. Youre underplaying how foul what she did was. She just didnt "not speak up". She cowerd while her husband was publicly branded as her abuser (due to her gossiping to her friends).
I & most people can never trust someone after that. No therapy will make up for your shit character.

I left a girlfriend for not standing up for me during a party when some trashy friend of hers started talking $hit that she could easily disprove with a word. The second she didn't have my back, I knew she was a waste of time. Never regretted my choice for a second.
I know why she tried to leave with them and why she stayed silent. It's what immature adults and kids do when caught in a lie. She was quiet because she was so afraid of getting caught that she was legit contemplating sticking with the story that he was beating her. She was willing to destroy her man's reputation and life just to avoid getting caught.

I also agree with Aba that there is something more to the picture than what we see. There is something to her and her husband's relationship we don't know that caused her to crave the attention the lie gave her more than the love and care of her husband.

Good for you for knowing your worth! If your partner doesn't stand up for you, leave them! I went through this bs with my husband for 7 years concerning his toxic family. Shtf after I couldn't take their abuse anymore. I ripped them a new one and threw all their dirty laundry back in their faces. My husband finally started to see them for who they were. His own brother even betrayed him. After that, he had my back. We no longer talk to them and he's always telling me how sorry he is that he put me through that. It worked out for me eventually but I wouldn't advise anyone else to tolerate what I did.

I remember when my girlfriend was pregnant with my son. He rode very low in her womb, which caused her pain randomly. One day, we went to the doctor for a prenatal checkup, and she was in pain. It was at the hospital, so I grabbed a wheelchair so she wouldn't have to walk. When we get to the office and she's called in, she's in pain to the point that she's crying a little. I'm in the waiting room because they asked me to wait there looking down the hallway to the exam room. In the exam room, the nurses are talking to her and periodically look up at me with angry looks on their faces. They thought that I was hurting her in some way, and I could tell by their looks. My girlfriend assured them that it was because of the baby, and that I wasn't violent like that. Once they examined her, they could obviously see that the baby was indeed riding low, and they took her word for it. But I was kinda mad that they initially thought I'd hit a pregnant woman. So I definitely understand what this man is going through.

The comment about a mother walking out on her child struck home for me: my mother and dad didn’t have the best marriage, she constantly cheated and was abusive, he was trying his best whilst defending himself against her level of craziness, well they decide to split up on December 26th (her decision because it “couldn’t wait until after Christmas) and it got UGLY, just UGLY. She ran off saying she needed protected and she was afraid he’d kill her or something and claiming he was “dangerous”, the cops asked if she needed to rescue her son and daughter and she said “nah”, like she told the cops “oh he’s dangerous and super violent, he’ll kill me”. The cops knew my dad (next door neighbour was a local Sergeant) and they looked at her like “okay? If he’s dangerous then aren’t your kids potentially in danger of this rage?”
She abandoned us for a couple years to sleep around, party with guys, wait for my dads depression to be real bad because he was struggling as a single father with no support, when grandma died, his mother, that’s when my mother swooped in to “save the day” and she got full custody because dad at that time didn’t have any fight in him, something he regrets to this day but that ain’t his fault imo. She went on to massively abuse me over the years whilst she cut all contact with my dad so I couldn’t reach out for support, the abuse often being violent in nature where she also encouraged my brother violently attack me (many hospital visits). It takes a certain kind of woman to speak behind her husbands back, make claims to her friends and then leave those important details out the post, and then claim to be “too scared” to say anything and walk out the door without her kid. Like if her friends truly believed her husband was volatile they’d ask if she needed help escaping with her kid, but this mother just silently walked out which to her friends confirmed the abuse, and just left her kid. This woman from the post and my mother and birds of a feather, they’re cut from the same cloth. All very “me, me, me” but speaks little about her family.

She goes and tells on herself even more at about 10:25 "I want...I want... I want... Loves (me) even more" This has nothing to do with what she did to him and everything to do with her not being treated the way she WANTS to be treated.

I sat there quietly. I turned to her and she was piling on insinuating that she had better sex with past partners. I said nothing and walked outside for space. I have a 2nd cousin (much older) who was in Marine Force Recon during Vietnam. He is a great guy, but he has occasional flashbacks that clearly put him in another place and time. A few of my friends in high school were in a scout troop where he was the leader. One night when they were camping, one of the kids thought it would be funny to sneak up on and scare him. That kid wound up on the ground face down and a split second from a broken neck before my cousin regained his senses.

*she lied to her "Friends" enough to make them think she was being abused
*she could have said something in the moment to squash the issue but didn't( a lie was told and she was caught in it)
*walking out the house to only CONFIRM their suspicions/thoughts
    Opinion:
to say enough lies to be believed someone is abusing you means that you were looking for affirmation/attention/validation, not all apply, but thats the general understanding. To shrivel up and cower... helped those who believe they are correct in their understanding made the case seem more true. To walk out the house when told to do so for your safety when your husband is standing there defending himself from YOUR words is betrayal on the same level as sleeping with another man that is not your husband. The same as when you're husband shares with you something that he's never shared with another person and you decide to share it. If you ask your husband to stop doing something you hate and he continues, would you think he cares when you find out that it's caused others to think badly of you because of it? It’s weird that they think she was getting abused as a woman thats very weird too. The best answer to how that happened is she was trying to create some drama, & planted little seeds overtime mot that her husband is abusive, that she’s the good woman, the victim, & she let them guess how bad was her husband, didn’t correct them or nothing & if she stood up for him they would know she was playing victim & she let them think such thing ab her husband. She probably didn’t know it would get out of hand but she did know what she did, at the moment of picking who to walk alongside with during the argument it was her reputation or his. It’s just odd, no one would come to the conclusion & say they are an abuser without “evidence” or claim at some point before.
For those who didn’t get it, she’s the type to get a bruise from a fall & say “my husband was upset yesterday” to spice things up. She would never claim her husband did it because if it comes out she was lying she would say she didn’t say anythings so they can’t blame her. I feel like she was shocked that it would get out of hand, she didn’t say anything because they saw how mad they were at him & if they knew she was lying that anger would go to her. She cried because shes too sensitive & everything got out of control. She can’t take a hit she’s just a coward.

no matter how much you love a person, that knife didn't just get put in, it was twisted and then some,
and when it was pulled out, it left a gaping hole when his trust was ripped out.

She was looking for sympathy from her friends, she didn't expect them to have that reaction berrating her husband, her talking was basically admiting she lied, she thought following was the lesser evil than making her husband look like a monster.
She knew he loved her, and thought he would forgive her if she apologized enough.

The shit these awful women pull hurts other women - and men - who are genuinely struggling, hurting, and afraid of reaching out. And when they do, so many people have this mentality. "Well, she could be lying." "Well, I've never seen it. They seem happy in public." "So many women lie for attention; this is just that." "Take it with a grain of salt."
A lot of abuse goes unreported and unnoticed - both for men and women, I'll stress - because of these situations. Don't let these awful people warp your perception of others. You should still show compassion and care for others even though some people lie for attention. Or, if nothing else... just move on with your day instead of shaming others or going out of your way to accuse them of lying (even behind their back.). Yeah, I'm gonna say it's real. I had a similar incident with a girl I started dating after my 4th deployment. I had always told her that if I ever fell aspleep by myself in a place I don't usually sleep, to shake my feet if she needed to wake me up. One time I dozed off on a couch, she came to wake me up, and she geabbed my shoulder and shook, and when I woke up I instinctively took a swing. I never made conctact, but she told the story once, and from then on I was an abuser in the eyes of her friends and even her sister. I never once struck that woman, and anytime we even had a minor argument, everyone would rush to her to protect her from the big bad abusive man. She never once stood up for me. What's even worse, most civilians don't realize what we go through, and how alot of what we might do in certain situations is pure instinct. Sneaking up on a veteran in a dark room that he expects to be empty is just asking to get hurt. The second he senses something wrong, his instincts take over.
She fucked the marriage because she to this day, doesn't seem to understand what her husband has been through, and when she opens her mouth and makes him look bad, even if it's unintentional, is too much of a coward to properly defend her husband until it's too late.

I don't know even one veteran that likes being hyper-vigilant, on alert, *all* the time. It's got to be nerve-wracking. Most people feel bad if someone else startles them and they *yell,* much less physically react. But instead of coming to an understanding about him, instead of using it as a lesson, she kicked him when he was down. She happily joined others doing the same, which is just a whole other level of gross.

You could yell full volume a couple feet away and no problem they would wake up normally and be cool, but you even gently shake them by the shoulder while they're asleep, they're waking up ready to swing if they're not swinging already.

I had a homie that struck me in the neck for this once. He told me to only wake him below the knee because its how his brothers would wake him in the service, If you touch any higher it will seem insulting. Well one night he was crashing at my place, and i went to wake him and totally forgot and i hit his stomach with the back of my hand on the side, he immediately had his eyes wide open and my throat cusped. Was trippy for me cause I knew how to handle myself and never imagined someone would react so fast to waking up. Man did he feel like shit for it and y'know it was my own fault. I didnt think twice about it. When the time comes tho, youd be super grateful for it (as in needing the response in a dire situation). I have my own quirks too, when I sleep next to someone I cant sleep heavily. I wake up at the slightest sound. You'd have to be a ninja and open my door without a creak, and even then I might somehow "feel" you in my sleep.

    • @loverofhumanity
      @loverofhumanity 2 месяца назад +5

Lol bro that's not the same story at all. While you are certainly not an abuser, swinging at your partner for trying to wake you up is much easier to be misconstrued for abuse though id say it's more of the type where people would have compassion for you as it seemed to be unconscious. Nevertheless you're still at fault. That's the reality. It's like someone drunk beating their wife. They're technically not purposely doing it but it's abusive nonetheless. Though most normal people would still have compassion for the person also accused of abuse and understand they need to get help.
In her story, she physically jumped on his back to surprise him. He was being attacked for all he knew and was simply protecting himself off instinct. Pretty different from you taking an actual swing at someone waking you up. I think most people would actually throw someone off their back because it's an instinctual thing in terms of human behavior. Swinging at someone waking you up isn't normal human behavior in the context of your story.
I'm not attacking you but I just fail to see how you can't comprehend how your story couldn't be misinterpreted by most people. You should at least be understanding of that even if it's not right.

Had a similar situation happen and it's rough for sure. Wife and I purchased a rental property which we never really discussed doing extensive work on but she decided to do so on her own but worked on the plans with her father. This was during the lockdowns so we were way understaffed at work and I was working 12-14hrs a day with a 1hr commute each way as well as Saturday half days. Her family kept asking why I was avoiding the work when I was the one funding it by being at work. It was crazy that I would need to defend my absence which then lead to a dispute and things have just never been the same.

Spot-on assessment guys! Someone reacting physically to a shock or surprise is called an "autonomic reflex" which is a concept well considered within law. It can be argued that there is no "mens rea" (guilty mind) in this case. Also, I heard the author state that the husband was "stationed in Texas." Is the husband in the military? If so, has he been on active service and could this then, be an explanation for his "over reaction?" As for walking to the car with the "friends" without explaining the truth of the story, I suspect that she was holding a grudge about the incident and was revelling in the sympathy and attention she was getting from the "friends." This, along with the fact that the wife thought it was a good idea to jump on the husband's back, when he wasn't expecting anyone to be present, might indicate that the wife is emotionally immature. Can he ever trust her after this? 😯

Me and my ex fiancé had been together for nearly 6 years, we were 1 week from the wedding and to make a long story short, we were arguing over something irrational and she took a standing floor lamp and busted the bulb and backed me into a corner. I told her if she came at me with it I would kill her, I would have no choice but to defend myself, she dropped it and ran into the master bedroom and I began to hear the toilet flushing. She was flushing my medications down the toilet since she knew I would struggle without my medications. Then I started hearing banging and crying, I immediately went to the front yard and called 911 and stayed on the line describing the noises I was hearing to the dispatcher until the police arrived. Before they went in I told them about the lamp and that I threatened to defend myself and that I was afraid she was going to hurt herself and try and blame me for it. They then went in and knocked on the master bedroom door to which she refused to come out. Eventually they got her to open the door and sure enough she was bleeding and all bad looking and first words out were “im scared if he’s out there”. Cops immediately said they weren’t buying it. I packed a bag of clothes while they were there and left. came back the next morning with a police officer to move out. It’s called a civil standby and the cop only stays for 15 minutes but I got moved out. Called in all my people from social media and they came to the rescue: never looked back and haven’t spoke to her since that night. Now I’m happily married going on 5 years with two awesome kids with the woman of my dreams. I truly believe she would have killed Me in my sleep.
Edit: I don’t care if you believe it or not, its irrelevant. I do appreciate the kind words. I live a blessed life and your kind gestures are the whipped cream and sprinkles on top. Thank you and god bless you like he has me!

The reason that most men would rather be cheated on than go through this is because being cheated on doesn't necessarily speak to our character. Being accused of being an abuser does impeach our character!

    • @danhumphrey8357
      @danhumphrey8357 2 месяца назад +31

Exactly. With being cheated on, most people aren’t going to blame you, and it’ll be the cheater who suffers the consequences. However, being falsely accused of being an abuser, you have a much worse fate. If no one would have spoken up for the man, it really would have completely ruined his life.

That feeling of being accused when you are innocent, people KNOW you're innocent, people who you trust your life with KNOW you're innocent and they don't speak up. That's another level of hurt. It's frustrating, sad, disappointing, and scary all at the same time. And even if your exonerated from the claims, there'll always be some who believe the false claims.

Lol this happened to me. I walked a girl home once after university and she tried kissing me and I told her I wasn't into her like that and Im just going to go home. So then she hugged me and I told her I have to go home as it was late and I left. The next week she started telling everyone in our friends group that I had tried to GR*PE her. I was so confused but as weird as it sounds I was more confused and frustrated than I was hurt by it. Frustrated that no matter what I said people believed her side of the story. There was no way I could prove that nothing happened.
I will say though, this may be unpopular, but the pain from getting cheated on is far worse. I can only speak about myself. The false accusations is more frustration than emotional pain. Being cheated on is the most emotionally painful thing I personally dealt with. I can't deny it.

in her post, she states that when she had conversations with lana and her husband about how her own husband was always gone working and wasnt really helping around the house or with their son, she stayed silent when they bashed him and said he needed to step up and drive 2hr+ to work. she had already validated their assumptions about him during all these chats by not speaking up so they had a warped view of him when they finally met him and it got worse when more info (the surprise party and her bruises that day) was introduced. if she had defended him from the very beginning when she was hanging out with them prior to the weekend get-together, that whole scenario most likely never would have happened. she mentioned how she liked being praised for her hard work and acknowledged for doing most of it on her own and how her husband needed to stop slacking despite him doing his best. im not sure if that means she has narcissistic tendencies but that could maybe explain why she was nonconfrontational and didnt defend her husband when it mattered most as it wouldve forced her to admit she was wrong to the two people she was receiving that praise from and leaving with them couldve been her avoiding telling the truth especially when admitting lies and deceits of your own can be the most difficult thing to share. whatever it is, it most definitely potentially ended her marriage

This hits close to home for me.
My wife and I met when we were 18, and we started dating shortly after that. Not long after we started dating, she got pregnant. Needless to say, her parents weren't happy, and they despised me. Her mother came around to liking me fairly quickly once I showed that I wasn't going to be a deadbeat father. But her father hated me for years.
Even after we got married about 6 years after we started dating, he still hated me. So much so that he would leave threatening notes on my car, and even one time, he literally threw me out of his house because my wife told him that our daughter couldn't stay the night. He yelled at me and shoved me through his house and then pushed me out the front door.
Every time he threatened me or attacked me physically or accused me of being an abusive father/husband, my wife said nothing. And what was I supposed to do? If I had lashed out at him, I would have proven him right. So my only lifeline was my wife, and she never defended me.
It's been years since all of that happened, and my father in law finally came around to liking me. I'm cordial with him, but the damage is done. And even though I love my wife more than anything, there are scars there. It hurts me deeply that she never stood up for me when I couldn't stand up for myself.

I'm sorry you had this experience. My parents did not like my husband either at first. My dad tried to start something with him and I put my dad out. It was exceptionally hard to do and I didn't have a relationship with my parents for years after that. They eventually came around and my husband is their favorite son in law now. Unfortunately my husband has not defended me to the same degree with his mother. He is not willing to lose her even temporarily. Nothing ever as confrontational as the other situation but she makes nasty comments about me constantly that he let's slide because she's just old and always been that way. She does say nasty comments to everyone but still.......I feel your pain a little.
