We all do! Even if youre starting a business. This is still how i grow my network and get jobs. Its a long game but we want to play chess NOT checkers.
Ya I’ll do that this week for you. Also if you want to email me your resume I can break down how I would change it and how I would incorporate open source
Ive applied to thousands of positions, but ive had trouble with networking because i live in a small town that does not have a lot of software engineers. Is making a CrunchBase account the best option for me?
Doesnt matter where you live. Network online contributing to open source, virtual meetups, grabbing virtual coffees with people. Theres a lot to unpack here. 1. How much experience do you have? 2. What kind of jobs are you applying for? 3. How are you applying? I would say to rank them. 1. Contribute to open source on a large project like Gitlab. 2. Crunchbase 3. Make a list of everyone you know that works at a company that has software engineers and make connects that way
@@Scott_Stern I just graduated this year, so I don't have much experience. I've been applying for software engineering positions. I've been applying through LinkedIn, Monster, Dice and company websites. I've also been trying to reach out to recruiters on LinkedIn, but that hasn't helped me much either.
Such great content. I'm surely sharing it with my mentees. Thanks, Scott!
Thank you so much for the support :)
thats really good advice. I think I need to start doing warm/cold approach.
