@@dtl As it happens I can be seen behind the curb-side Aptera while I am waiting to get in the passenger seat. I'm the straw hat with a beard and grey hoodie at 2:19. I never realized that Drew was manning the driver's side door! I would have gotten footage with him. Oh well, next time...
Really wish they had brought it up to Electrify Everything in vancouver. I had the ambassador shirt on and needed to constantly answer that no they dont have a booth here. People want to see Aptera and it came up fairly often in panels. Vancouver also has a lot of senior accredited investors with an interest in green technology.
Yeah, I was going to mention that too. I got a chance to meet Drew and his wife and they were friendly and engaging, offering Aptera support for the successful event along with Jerry and Helen.
Two things I want available when my Aptera arrives ASAP will be car seat covers and a cover for the yolk. SO those of you who are crafty with Etsy or work for a car accessory company, please jump on these things fast. I wonder if Aptera would be willing to give all the dimensions of the yolk and seats for people to jump on working on these.
Assuming the 'right ot repair' applies to the seats; there is a luxury branded company that makes LEATHER seat covers. Since the Aptera seats are, it seems, put on as very basic[the zipper to the headrest cover!} it would be small work to just remove the original seats fabrick and put on the leather ones. Now all we need is the car.
I got to attend this Aptera event in SF and it was great! I had seen the Gamma prototype at its unveiling in San Diego at the Fully Charged show, and it was fun to sit in it again and see the BinC. But more than that, I really came by to meet up with Chris Anthony, Chris M, Audra, as well as Jerry and Helen, Drew, and several other Aptera supporters in person. They got over 1,000 people who said registered to attend, plus there was a growing group of people passing by who were curious about the crowds and the Aptera. It was smart that Aptera broke up the crowds by giving us each an 1 hour time slot, limited to 125 people at a time. The Aptera is NOT an EV for introverts, and every car that drove or walked by had people smiling, pointing, and taking pictures of the Aptera.
Dude helping people in and out of the driver seat was Drew from Tailosive (we spoke for a few minutes) and I was one of the few recipients of a BodyinChocolate, thanks to Glen (maker). Was way cool to see Aptera in person finally, now my wife is all excited to take delivery next year
The seats don't have the wing bolstering of sport/race seats on performance cars, but they did have a good supportive feel for me. I sat in the seats twice in Gamma, and I saw the production intent seats shown in SF and they are a good fit for me. Some people are going to want sportier seats, and they may well be offered as an option in later models. But most of the people that I've spoken with are more concerned with the Aptera's seats being comfortable. For long commutes, and the long drives that the Aptera's range will make possible. The seats offer a good balance between support and comfort. At least for me.
This writer suspects that will not change. These seats have been approved as 'official' for the Aptera. Drew said he thought the VERY BASIC seat design was done to accommodate more/different body sizes/shapes. For this writer, that will be the 02nd thing I change on the Aptera. Perhaps some retrofitted seats from a 1970 Caddy; plush velour, padding, real springs and the like.
Thanks to your connections for the videos! Word on the street is that the seats weren't bolted in. Body in Chocolate?? If they have it in dark chocolate, I'm all in!
Seats weren’t bolted in, I wanted to sit in them, but was too afraid to ask, but just pushing on them with my hand I could feel they were comfortable. Jerry & Helen
@@dtl Indeed. I don’t get chocolate or frozen food items delivered to our hot sunny AZ home “in the summer”, but we do have great solar production! So I will have good Aptera PV solar production, but…. able to eat chocolate year round... Not so much !😞
TailosiveEV at 2:12 I really hope this thing makes it to large scale production, even though I probably won't be getting this one (I have three people in my family). A slightly longer or perhaps wider version might seat 3 or 4 in the future though.
Thanks Russwig, Jerry& Helen, Chad and Aptera. Jerry you sat in Gamma and the previous development vehicle. With the PIs they talked about using a more dense foam in the seat. Do you know if that happened? Remember the difference of the feel? Granted a PI “sit test” might be short and sweet/ hard to compare since it was not complete/a ride 😞
I sat in the Gamma seats and they were very comfortable. But it is always a balance between comfort, support, and longevity. The Gamma seats were prototypes. And Aptera probably learned that they needed denser foam in parts to withstand daily use. The Gamma prototype seats felt good to me. Being very comfortable. But it is most likely that their engineers saw (or were advised) that the production seats would need construction and foam changes moving forward. The PI seats were just built right before the Aptera team shipped the BinC and Gamma to SF. So they just set them inside the CF shell, and they weren't bolted in. So we couldn't sit on them. The PI seats looked good, and seemed to be well built. But we are going to have to wait a couple months until the PI2 or PI4 is built for people have a chance to try out the upgraded PI seats.
Yes i took an extended ride i gamma last year. I can tell you unequivocally, that the PI seats I saw at this event are a huge huge upgrade in cushioning, and quality from the gamma seats. Jerry & Helen
Thank you!! I appreciate that! I had the receiver set to stereo and set for 2 mics. Now that I know what I did wrong I should be able to avoid that in the future! Thank you again!!
First, the thanks of this writer to D.T.L. for this news, the more the better. Now; this PI seat has, it is noted, the side lever to flip the seats forward. This was lacking on the Gamma seats. Its good news, as you can now move the seat back to reach "X" behind the seats. In that way you will not have to open the back {which will likely cause another accident!} and sort thru a full trunk to find the objects you seek. And he agrees, the seat are on par with say, the seats from a Toyota Scion that this writer once owned. At least they do not seem to be Yugo seats.
Hopefully later, when Chad gets more video from another ch member, we can have a de briefing and takeaway from the event, as there was soooo much going on there.
I was hopeful for seats that look similar to Corbeau aftermarket bucket seats. I'm not impressed. Also, is that all they're doing with PI1 and/or PI2? It is just a body shell on a cart.
Glad to be of service! Thanks Chad & Sarah!!!
Thank you Russ!!!!!!

Seats seem to be lacking any side to side bolstering. Hope that gets improved for final product.
Good point
