  • Jerod and I do a review of the BeaverCraft BSH4 Dusk bushcraft knife. This knife is handcrafted in Ukraine from 1066 carbon steel with 58-60 HRC hardness, European walnut handles, and the sheath is cowhide leather. Links below:

Thanks, Steve. Jerod and I like these, they feel good in the hand and seemed to do what we would or might need them to do. I still have some 14 inch or so logs lying around from when I had our black walnuts cut down. I had a 14 foot log that was at 16 or 18 inch across, I wasn't trying to sell it, I just wanted it gone. Tried giving it a way and no one wanted it. So after about a month, I took the old Husky out there and cut it up into logs for fire wood. Split a bunch of it with my electric log splitter, and took to deer camp to burn. Thanks for watching and commenting. Juddie

The new BSH5 seems to be the only one in the BSH family that doesn’t have a lanyard at the pommel. This is a huge reason why I love my BSH4 knife! I made a paracord non slip lanyard that really cinches the hand down for worry free slippage in the wet or cold. No finger hilt at the end of the handle can easily leave its user with a bunch of stitches. With the paracord non slip knot system I tied off has made this blade a worry free joy to use! Totally love this knife! The edge retention is amazing and it’s just simply built like a tank! Hats off to the Ukraine!

This is the only Beavercraft knife that my son and I own. We really do like the BSH4 and I may be ordering another one of their knives to compare and see how I like it. Yes, got to be careful that the finger doesn't get up to far near the blade!! The edge is awesome, I was splitting seasoned walnut, and chopping into it and the edge held up great. Yes, those guys in the Ukraine have made a great knife. I want to order the hatchet and give it a try, if it is anything like the knife, it is going to be a workhorse. Thanks, Todd. It does look awesome and feels good in the hand. I didn't notice in hot spots on my hands holding it while beating on it or when cutting with it. If I remember right, $49 dollars isn't bad. The have other models, a little different design but all I think are made from the 1066 carbon steel. Appreciate you watching and commenting. Juddie

Thanks, Dan. We really like this knife so far. It seems to be able to take what we put it through and it keeps and edge. The test of time will really say something about the knife. For the price I think it is a great deal. Thanks for watching and commenting. Juddie

I’ve been waiting to watch this one all at one time!
I have a couple of BPS knives that really perform great!
I think it’s the same company in Ukraine.
I really like the one you have here! It has a much better blade shape than HK5 and Adventurer.
If you can feather stick black walnut, it has to be a fantastic edge!!
I love the steel the Ukrainian companies use, and it’s super easy to put an edge on!
I made several videos splitting and it seems a lot more difficult than it looks!
    Great video fellers!!!!
Hope yall have a fun turkey season brother Juddie! God Bless you and yours!

Jerod and I really like these and they seem to do whatever we put them up to, and still hold an edge. For years we have been a fan of the Condor Bushlore knife, I have two of them and Jerod has one, but I think the Condor may have found its match. Neither Jerod or I are good at making feather sticks for whatever reason, but it appears that these knives make easy work out of it. The knives I have made have been made of 1095 carbon steel, and I researched what was a good steel for the first time knife maker, I don't recall anyone mentioning 1066 carbon steel. Maybe that steel isn't good for a first time knife maker, but I know it is holding up what little bit we have done with it. Thanks for watching and commenting and hope you get out in the woods as well looking for the long beard. Juddie

It sure seems like it would or could do anything we would need it to do. The edge held up fine on mine and Jerod's. No, it isn't real big and feels good in the hand. Could probably use this knife as a hunting knife as well. Thanks for watching and commenting. Juddie
