Others that would be fighting for a top 10 place are The Jam - All Mod Cons, Bob Marley - Kaya, Boomtown Rats - Tonic For The Troops, Kate Bush - The Kick Inside, The Clash - Give 'Em Enough Rope and Talking Heads - More Songs About Buildings and Food
Enjoy your channel....my top 10 from 1978 would be: 1. Bruce Springsteen - Darkness on the Edge of Town 2. The Cars - debut 3. Rolling Stones - Some Girls 4. Billy Joel - 52nd Street 5. Bob Seger - Stranger in Town 6. Elvis Costell0 - This Year's Model 7. Foreigner - Double Vision 8. Boston - Don't Look Back 9. Warren Zevon - Excitable Boy 10. Gerry Rafferty - City to City Any chance you could do a worst to best or retrospective of Jackson Browne or Joni Mitchell?

I’m gonna play them all on your recommendation. Darkness is the only album I’ve heard fully on the list to my shame. I was waiting for warren zevon’s excitable boy to make an appearance. 👍
“Parallel Lines” Is one of the most perfectly realised chart pop albums ever, but the one album I return to is “All Mod Cons”. It’s such a mature album for a collection of songs that were written by a 19-year-old.
Great list! I love all of them. Glad you included Johansen and TRB. So many great albums that year, I'd include: All Mod Cons, Bloodbrothers, Drastic Plastic, Easter, Give Em Enough Rope, Heaven Tonight, Hermit of Mink Hollow, Misfits, More Songs About Buildings and Food, Peter Gabriel, And Then There Were Three, Separates, System of Romance, A Tonic for the Troops, Who Are You, U.K., Road to Ruin, Another Music in a Different Kitchen, Love Bites, Are We Not Men?, Mr. Gone, What Do You Want from Live, True Stories (Sancious), White Music, Go 2

I am probably the only one to not like it after 2/3 listens but it gets on my nerves - rehab for me soon? Sorry Kramz, much love otherwise. 2 Reminiscing - Little River Band. Thank all of you for not giving this a thumbs up - maybe love can grow again for us? Frank Sinatra loved this and so did Glenn Fry. INXS was the antidote. 3 Rolling Stones - Miss You . Keith has said many times that he hated this song and that Mick was up to his arse in the disco/cub scene. 4 Denise - Blondie A 60s song that was so Much Better by Randy and the Rainbows. I hate what Blondie did to this .
my favorite year was 1976 (just off my top of my head - 10&11 could flip positions, which is why I listed 11 instead of 10) I have actually 26 or 27 albums from 1978 in my collection 11. Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band - Stranger In Town 10. Ted Nugent - Double Live Gonzo! 9. The Rolling Stones - Some Girls 8. KISS - Ace Frehley 7. KISS - Peter Criss 6. The Cars - The Cars 5. Spot on 1978 is the best year for music ever. The only record you mentioned I don't already love was David Johansen, which passed me by. I'll definitely check it out. Looking at my own 1978 Spotify playlist I also have the likes of Bob Marley, Kate Bush, Stiff Little Fingers, Buzzcocks, Devo, Chic, Magazine, Wire, Boomtown Rats, Jam, Wire, Peter Gabriel, PIL though some of these might just be singles. But what a year, thanks for the reminder,
Power In The Darkness was my gateway to New Wave and Punk. It led me to The Clash, Television, Talking Heads, Wire, etc. Adventure suffers because it's been so thoroughly overshadowed by Marquee Moon, but it's a fine collection of songs that probably would have been received differently had it been released first. Not exactly what I would have picked for '78 overall. Still, I appreciated hearing your picks.
It’s so interesting to listen to some of you guys like Mike here at music city and Pete Pardo over at see if tranquility do the rankings and I understand that it’s personal preference of the type of music you grew up listening to and all of that and this is an a negativity or a dig at either one of you guys but when I have noticed that creeps in is a sort of regionalism where are you guys rake people like Springsteen and Billy Joel in Boston and some of the bands in the area that you grew up higher than you would other bands from other parts of the country or the world in similar musical genres higher because of where you grew up which is fair enough I’m group on the West Coast and I never got into some of those bands you guys are just totally in love with but that’s what makes the world go around I guess your favorites are your favorites and mine are mine and sometimes they intersect cheers!

You're such a pleasure to watch and listen to! Your enthusiasm, passion, and knowledge is so engaging, especially during this crappy period! Thanks!
Means a lot - thank you.

You make a good point about Blondie & Parallel Lines being more cohesive, it was.
It's all about Some Girls. Top to bottom great songs. It's another of my go to records. That said, Darkness is absolutely brilliant.
