Hey Daniel. Rewatching your Videos is a really good distraction from the terrible Situation right now. Thanks for the good Work and greetings from europe!
I hope you took advantage of that home made chicken noodle soup. :) But nah, really, that tornado was insane. It just...sat there twiddling its thumbs for a thousand years. I love listening to the chatter between chasers and spotters (when there's not a lot of interference). After a few of these videos, you start to get a sense of community. Daniel, you're always calm, and on alert if anyone needs help. Honestly, you reminded me to update my first aid kit in the back of the car.
Daniel, your must have incredibly large stones. Man, you sat on that thing a lot longer than I would have! The greatest fear of an ever increasing base on a tornado that appears stationary but getting exponentially larger is that is coming towards you. You seem to have greatly adapted your chase style from this to current to be much more safety conscious, and from experience, you're pretty on the ball in this older footage already.
Pretty sure I drove right passed this exact storm on the way to CO back in 2013. Was south of it though on 70 west. Had no idea, but the clouds looked the part.
I hope you guys had some chicken soup and a comfy bed after all that. I'm safe from that weather here, but my sister in Ontario has had a few moments when she was tempted to grab the cat and run to the basement. Luckily, she only got wind and rain. Jon in rural BC, Canada

I believe anyone seeking a career in storm chasing should be required to get "First Responder" certified, this would weed out the fly by night amateurs or thrill seekers that seem to get in the way of serious storm chasers! This part (storm chasing) of meteorological study should have some type of regulation...what are your thoughts?
Yes and no. Thrill-seekers should seek the thrills they want because that's freedom. So long as they aren't putting other people's lives in danger, anyway. But a "professional" storm chaser? Yes, they should get first responder or some other certification, because many of them do exactly that kind of work once the storm has passed through.

I know this was a year ago, but for anyone else reading this, Daniel has resources available to him including reports from other spotters and radar, so he was able to be sure the storm was in fact stationary. If you ever see a storm in person and don't have those tools at your disposal, assume the storm is coming straight for you.
