Hey, thanks for both video! Teardown finished on my 390. Ordering pieces now, then a good cleaning before assembly again. What is the paste you put below the cylinder? Can you ref it? Thanks!
the torque specs for those bolts at 7:00 are only like 8 ft lbs. lol I thought they'd be way higher, i think i read the torque specs for a 460 and it called for 80 lbs, not 8... anyways it looks like we both torqued the shit outta our cylinders, no leaks here though :D
I've hardly ever had one leak and if I did it was because oil got on it. Anymore I out em together with the cylinder barely lubed than I lube it good after the sealer sets.
The piston in my saw is locked in place and the mix left in it smells and looks lean. Is it mostly bricked or is there a chance of saving it without needing to buy a new piston and housing (Piston is locked and housing has clear scorch marks) As far as I can tell I'm up a creek but I wanna try and save it as it's my great-grandfather's.
I'd replace the piston and cylinder and seals. And always run 40:1 fuel ratio with fresh fuel. You can get decent aftermarket cylinder kits for under 100 bucks on ebay. Seals are cheap
I have no clue what you're talking about. I show ya how to tear the saw down and rebuild it. It's pretty straightforward. I have lots of rebuild vids. Maybe another one is more helpful for you.
Joseph most the rebuilds i do are due to scored pistons. Ive done quite a bit of straight gassed rebuilds this year too. I had a guy bring me 5 saws awhile back that were all straight gassed.
Thank you for these videos. My saw is now up and running again thanks to your instruction.
Good job man 👍
Glad it helped!

How did you plug your decompression hole?
I believe i bought a 10 or 12 pack of decomp plugs on ebay for about a buck a peice. Which reminds me that i need to get more.
@@jeremythomas9134 okay sweet. Do they wear out over time or you just rebuild a lot of saws?
