U302 and M670 were the last true MM tractors designed 100% by MM. Upgrades to make the Jetstar 3 as well. There was a ton of innovations with these, and in my opinion put the JD 10 series to shame. IH was really the only one that had comparable. The steering was hydrostatic. Best design on the market for the next couple decades. Tele-flo was a good design. Adjustable rate. The MM of this era made fantastic loader tractors because of the speed they could cycle a loader. The seat design they show at 23:00 is legit! Super easy to adjust, one of few where the weight setting actually worked. The gauges started out old school but quickly were changed to what I would describe as "indiglow" (remember the timex watches in the 90's?) and were leagues beyond the competition in visibility at night. Other little things, like how the lift arms for 3pt had those swivel ends with a pin to make hook up super easy, offering 540/1000 pto that was easy to switch, even the nice wide flat fenders were a boon when you had someone riding back from the field(or out to the field) Ampli-torque is a nice system for it's era, and reduced strain on things by allowing a slow start. Even road travel, you could pull down the lever to move out and once straightened out push it up to go. It's really too bad what White ended up doing to this company. The financial cuts started before these tractors had even gotten to market. It's why the innovations basically stopped and they rehashed the same thing for the next ten years. All so White could try to keep it's heavy trucks going, which ultimately failed anyway. Such a shame.
We had a G 1000. I liked the slower running engine and how much weight was in the tractor. I always held it would have outpulled our our ih 1066. But we cracked and welded all 3 blocks in it. After the next crack we scrapped it.
Minneapolis Moline horribly over rated there tractors. During MM expo at rollag 2016 someone tried pulling 8 bottoms in the plowing area with a Vista, it failed. Then they tried a 6 bottom failed.
Obivously you're not from around here. I always laugh when some dummy thinks they can take a plow one or two sizes to big thru hard clay at rollag in clay Co. Minnesota. 1 bottom plow behind an R moline is all that tractor will pull. We plow&rip it every year. It will take a 500 CASE IH quad track to it's knees
And no mr.stout no till is the absolute worse thing you can do to ground turns it to concrete. I'm getting on in years & I'm well up in my Bible verses. & No we're does it say no till in the Bible. It says "plowing"
Every manufacturer over rated their tractors. There are places where a Vista will pull 7 or 8 bottoms. Large combines 4WDs and large grain carts pack the ground much more than years ago did with smaller equipment.
Minneapolis Moline tractor's has the tork and performance to be number one over international and John deer no wonder that Minneapolis Moline tractor's are the most popular tractor on the market and I wish that Minneapolis tractor's stay and high performance tractor's I wish that they would of still kepted on building the big yellow and that's Minneapolis Moline tractor's
One of the best tractors ever produced. I had the honor of operation and can tell anyone about the pure power and economy of these. Superior to anything!
I can attest to the M670s having long life engines. We have a 65 diesel that we still use that we think has 30,000 hours on it with the same engine that has never had a complete rebuild, at least that I know of. It's still running strong, starts up every time with a bit of starting fluid in the mornings and only blows a little bit of smoke.
We sold new MM tractors. I remember them very well. M670 may have lasted well. But the 5 star, M5, and 670 engines vibrated. Would rattle the hood. Seen a blown engine from ether cold start. Rod tore off. Holes in crankcase. Broke out bottom of one block. Knocked the starter off. Expensive repair.
They had a solid tuff engine and it was very dependable and fairly easy to over haul I still think they were better than jd but that’s just me If they had had the backing JD dealership had they would still be around 😢😢😢
Six bottoms? There’s no way. All the manufacturers seemed to do that back in the day. Same tractors that were rated for 7-8 bottoms pull 5-6. Five plow tractors usually did better with 4.
Mike Deusa I know this because I worked for CaseIH for years, and now I have my own shop. I’ve worked on everything. I’ve seen the results of what happens when manufacturers overrated their equipment. I agree it depends on the soil, but I’ve seen waaaayyyyy too many machines that were rated for 6 plows have reduced life compared to when they stuck with 5.
I always thought that John Deere should took their old reliable 2 cylinder engines and built it into 4 or 6 cylinders with the same bore and stroke and low rpm that the two cylinders hadhad they matched and combined the engine out of the 730 engine they could have had a 130 hp na or 140 hp w/Turbo charger
This was the workhorse for my grandpa's farm when my dad was younger and working on the farm until they got the G950. I got to drive the same M670 that my grandpa owned. Coolest experience driving these.

I've been searching all over for any Minneapolis Moline dealer promo videos, thank you for posting them!
Used a M670 Super Diesel on the farm for years. Pulled a 14 foot disc and baled hay, etc. Very good fuel economy.
Great! Thank you for sharing. Did they ever release promotional videos like this for the U302 and Jetstar 3?
I really have no idea, sorry.

I wouldn’t doubt it, but if the same area is plowed repeatedly, that could make it harder

It makes a healthy C CASE with 2-14s talk

M670 lp worst tractor I ever owned.
It just depends on the person and the soil

I very much agree with you
Seems like MM had very well designed engines
They sure over rated it for plow bottoms. Red River valley ground 4-16s give it a good load

Good thing MM didn't bring a 930 case in two this demo. 930 would of given everyone a run for the money. 806& 4020 stop. 930 is like 900 it doesn't

These old films are truly a treasure. Thanks for posting!!

Enjoyed watching this video thanks
Could possibly be the best tractor ever produced. It could do everything! And the fuel efficiency was unbelievable.
My wife and I still have her dads 1968 jet star 3 he bought brand new. Thanks for posting
Awesome video. We have a few Minneapolis Moline tractors and they are still running strong.
My uncle pulled 5-16s with a pony drill behind it for 20 years with a M670 LP in heavy black soil.
Sounds like the farmers around Rosco Texas, they loved the moline
I still love how M-M didn't challenge any case tractors
We're I use to farm 6-18 on land gave my 4440 a good load
I found a M-670 propane powered tractor. I'm excited!
I have one and I will never sale it plus my grandsons are fighting over the tractors
Great Video. Please share more if you find any more.

You know this how. My farmall 560 pulled 5 16's all day in Maryland. My MM 1350 pulled 7 16's all day same fields.

Case ih is not a mm lol
Sandy soils were 6 but rest were 4
Wow!!! Now that is 336cu inches of raw horse power 6 bottom plow and a 32 foot field cultivator 😂

Looks like an oliver plow
Great video do you have any old ford tractor adverts
