Over the past month, the algorithm appears to have just stopped suggesting these videos to a wider audience. I would really appreciate it if you could interact with the video in anyway way to get us back in there. Like, dislike, share, comment. Anything would be amazing! Did you like Doom Eternal's lore addition to the Doomverse?
It's a shame, that RUclips isn't pushing your channel. I'm not a big fan of superlatives, but this really is the most amazing lore-channel on this platform. The narrative structure, the visualization, your voice... uh-maze-in :)
After the Slayer himself, Samuel Hayden was my favorite character in DOOM 2016 because of his murky stance on the usage of Argent energy while still helping us. And of course, Darin DePaul brings such a badass voice to him. I'm sure that this video will *resooooooooooolve* any questions we have about the lore 🔥
I'm hoping it helps understand the complicated story more! I know that people have found a lot of clarity in my Doom Slayer and The Dark Lord videos too! Thanks for watching as always!
@@Skyrionn Of course, bro! Happy to support the channel as always, I have a habit of watching your vids when I'm doing a long cardio session, make the time fly lol. Makes my Friday even better :)
Hayden's voice actor was nearly as good as Lance Henrikson in Mass Effect. VEGA is great too, While I prefer Cortana's humanity VEGA is pleasant to the ears.
I was confused as to why Hayden/Samur would be so aghast to the Slayer destroying the Argent towers if he knew it was made with tortured souls, now it kind of makes sense. Sacrificing a few for the many and keeping Hell at bay. Correct me if I'm wrong.
Samuel Hayden, the pinnacle of lore exposition in eternal for those that don't read the codex. Also tells the doomguy that he can't shoot a hole through mars
That was always my favorite part. Sam says u can't just shoot a hole into the center of Mars, and then ur hud pops up saying MISSION: Shoot hole into center of Mars. I lol everytime
This has got to be one of my favorite channels ever. The amount of work and research you put into each video is astounding and it’s always on topics that I enjoy that many other people aren’t covering. Thank you for being great Skyrionn
Thank you for enhancing the Doom experience. My first Doom game was SNES, it was (very unpleasant 6fps) amazing. I often think of my younger self seeing Doom Eternal. An imaginary sort of time travel.
Amazing video.. I beat Doom Eternal and the expansions. It's one of my all time favorite games. I never played Doom 2016. I think I have to. This filled in a lot of parts of the story I was missing. Doom has one of the best stories of any video game. Thanks for the video!
One thing you're wrong about. Hugo once during stream stated that actually Samur dreamed to take Father's position and that's why he cleaned his memory and turned him into Vega. He was ok to sacrifice him when Slayer was about to destroy the core. He asked Doom Slayer to restore Father only because he was a victim to the transfiguration process...
I think as the prophecy foretells Samuel Hayden will have become corrupted by the crucible power. Leading him to somehow creating an army that conquers both heaven and hell.
You did a good job putting together the lore here. I had read through the codex entries myself and had a pretty good idea of what was going on, but you put it so eloquently and nicely placed here; and I appreciate that :3
Love the work you do, doing my part after finding you this morning while at work. Keep it up, you've got the kind of voice and intonation I could listen to all the time
I've done research on religions and mystical teaching from around the world for about almost 2 years and I didn't realize how much the Doom lore parallels pieces of ancient texts, albeit Doom has added their own entirely new story, but the core essence of the story is still there
@@mikeharris6429 He goes to Earth and starts the only organization that kept humanity from being totally annihilated by Hell's army. He's the only reason they even had a chance of fighting back. He's more of a Machiavellian figure than an outright evil one in my book, but I could be just letting how cool his cyborg body is cloud my judgement.

It was my personal choice when playing through - however, I didn't realise I had used the "wrong" suit when recording some of the cutscenes. You're the first person to notice!
I know this is a take most Doom fans won’t agree with, but it is uncharacteristic of Sam to fight the slayer. Even after the father’s life sphere has been destroyed, he still would’ve helped the slayer since his holy mission has the same goal as the slayer does. A lot of the lore tries to show Samuel as an acolyte serving his Father, but it also highlights his self serving betrayal of the father. You can sugar coat it all you want, but he went against the word of his god so that he could have an Artificial Intelligence. Now, I’m not arguing that this makes him evil or anything like that, but it makes him smart and complex. TAG 1 throws all of this away because he couldn’t control the slayer (something he already knew from 2016-onwards) and that he was dying? I think that Samuel would welcome death after years of trying to accomplish what the father wanted. On this note, Samuel also knew Hell’s laws, as well as the fact that the divinity machine was imbued with the Dark Lord’s power, so it makes no logical sense to try and stop the slayer from unleashing him even if he was radicalized against the Dark Lord. It’s important to remember that this game was developed during the peak of the pandemic, so it’s always going to be a factor with these sorts of things, but they can still do better in the future, and I can still point out issues with the narrative.
Timeline has to be pretty fucking crazy. First there's the original timeline where William Joseph "B.J." Blazkowicz helps defeat the Nazis in WWII and his son Arthur Kenneth Blaze neé Blazkowicz has a son named William Joseph "Billy" Blazkowicz II neé Blaze (a.k.a. Commander Keen), who fights (mind controled) aliens in a nonlethal way and has two grandsons, Stan Blazkowicz and William Joseph Blazkowicz III (a.k.a. the Doom Marine), who goes to Mars, fights demons, and eventually disappears into Hell. Then the timeline where Doom III happens, whatever the deal with that was. Then the timeline where the Doom Marine stumbles out of Hell into Argent, becomes the Doom Slayer, and eventually ends up on what has to be the third Earth. And then there's the timeline where William Joseph "B.J." Blazkowicz fucks up and ends up in a coma, the NAZIs win WWII, so B.J. has to come back and beat them, and instead of a son, B.J. has twin daughters Jessie "Jes" Blazkowicz and Zofia "Soph" Blazkowicz, which somehow still results in a grandson named William Joseph "Billy" Blaze (presumably neé Blazkowicz II) (a.k.a. Commander Keen) who fights (presumably mind controlled) aliens but in a far more genocidal way and has twin son and daughter Billy Blaze and Billie Blaze.
Can you do lore video on similar hero Joseph Staten? Same story essentially, commits to noble cause. Chosen by god. Makes beautiful creation. Saves humanity. Then gives up everything to serve malevolent entity of all consuming power. Gets sacrificed.
Can't wait for a "devil's advocate" episode on this, there were times I actually thought. "Wow, this guy is trying his best to follow his God's will. Which is, well certainly heavily favored to humanity, a fairly good deed. I mean, sure he left his own race to possibly die. But the bigger the person the bigger the flaws I suppose"
This is the third video in this series that I'm watching, and I just realised a plot hole: If the Maykrs are a hive mind, how did the Khan Maykr or Samur Maykr lie to each other or hide secrets?
I don't quite remember why the Slayer destroyed the Sphere of the father instead of just taking the Dark Lord and leaving. But then again, there is not much to understand about the slayer.
From the moment I understood the weakness of my flesh, it disgusted me. I craved the strength and certainty of steel. I aspired to the purity of the blessed machine. Your kind cling to your flesh as if it will not decay and fail you. One day the crude biomass you call a temple will wither and you will beg my kind to save you. But I am already saved. For the Machine is Immortal.
This character IS great, very interesting, and the voice-actor clearly has "the voice" to make an impression (he probably had a lot of fun doing so). This being said, I don't like the storytelling of this, a lot of stuff happening in textform, talking about the I think 13 years in-between both games, such a waste. Why? The lore in general is totaly fine, probably isn't gonna get more Heavy Metal / WH40K-ish than that, and of course it's DOOM, so it's probably fine, but it could've been better, a lot, if they would've focused more on the storytelling, a bit more than they did, or better, a bit more than they didn't. So to me it's kinda boring. Feel the same with the Souls-Franchise. To be fair, I'm not saying it's bad, and I don't want or need everything to be spoonfed. Just saying if there's lots of interesting lore, don't hide most of it, make it more present in the gameplay/gameprogression...
