Great teamwork, Rex & Kathie. You two do a wonderful of not only building a boat but also telling the story behind it. And the finished product? Absolutely stunning Caledonia and yet another well scripted documentation with photos for illustration. Kudos to you both.
Fantastic summary. Thank you a lot - being a one who tries to determine which boat, among few already chosen ones, to actually build - I truly appreciate your work put into the video. Sail-ho!
Did you build the stems twice? I'm waiting for my plans exciting. Beautiful boat great work. I'm going to laminate the stems on the boat also. Good idea
No, just once. there is an inner stem that you plank to and once planked add the outer stem. Thanks for watching. Looking forward to following your build.
Beautiful build! You make it look so easy. I’ve wanted to build my own boat, but since I’ve never done it, I’ve been a bit unsure about doing it. But your advice in the beginning is very inspiring. I’ve never heard of adding graphite to epoxy. I’d love to know more about why you did.
Thanks, glad you are enjoying the channel. Graphite in the epoxy does a few things. Protects unpainted epoxy from UV rays, provides a hard surface that once scratched or scraped can be touched up easily with just a bit more epoxy and graphite, and provides a slicker surface that allows the hull to slide over oyster shells, rocks and sand with less damage to the bottom. Scratches are better than gouges.
Beautiful, just beautiful...! Do you mind sharing who your sailmaker is? I'm looking for a mizzen mast, spar and sail for a boat I'm building. I can't use a balanced lug sail because the boom is in the way of the sliding seat rowing area of the cockpit... I'm just now subscribing! cheers
No, we redid the video to provide more info than when we originally recorded it. We completed this boat in 2015, will be taking it to the Cedar Key small boat meet next weekend.
I am in love with boats. Particularly Iain Oughtred's boats. Beautifully done.
It's wonderful that you two built the boat together!
Thanks, we are working on our 23rd boat that we have built together, a Tiki 21 catamaran. We are videoing it as well, up to Episode 25 I think..
Thank you for sharing this beautiful build!
Our pleasure, thanks for watching.

Rod McLaren Thank you, glad you are enjoying our channel. Some of the older videos do not have commentary, all of them this year should.

You two do some really nice work!
Thank you, appreciate you watching.
What a great story. I love the dead pan humour!!
Glad you enjoyed the video., thanks for watching.
wonderful work and history.
Thank you.
I really liked the added commentary. :) I guess sanding is like sand on the beach. The dust has to go somewhere and it isn’t usually comfortable,
Thanks, a necessary part of boatbuilding .

We ordered a kit from Sailrite.com and sewed the sails ourselves. They will sew it I believe for additional money, best luck.
looks very good. How does it sail?
Has enough sail area to go in light air and 3 reef points let you go out in nearly any reasonable weather for a 19 !/2 foot boat.
@@RexandKathie Cool. And you can take out passengers too!
@@BensWorkshop Very true, thanks.
wait, you are doing two at the same time?

Wow, lovely. Wish I could get my wife to work with me on the Penny Fee I am building😢
Once your wife sees the beautiful lines as they take shape, she will jump in with both hands to help you along so she can go sailing sooner..
