I was there, and it was a wonderful evening. Whether in the arias of the first half of the programme, or the lighter Neapolitan/Italian songs, Florez was fantastic. I call him the Alchemist of Opera, as he takes a breath, and pours out notes of pure gold! It was a particular pleasure to see and hear the accordionist Ksenija Sidorova, whom I first heard back in 2011. Back then she showed immense talent; now she is the consummate performer. The Albert Hall is rather large for the more intimate songs from Italia, but the audience loved them, and were gifted 6 encores.
JDF rekindled my love of opera. The beauty and colour of his voice, his technical ability, his interpretation of roles, his acting; he is everything anyone could want in a bel canto tenor. The icing on the cake - he is also exceptionally handsome, so the parts he sings become believable. I`ve already booked seats for his recital in Birmingham next February, which will be the first time I`ve heard him in recital with his wonderful accompanist.
+ Ifmusicbethefoofoflove: I fully share your opinion and I deeply enjoy it. JDF is unique. As they often write about him - he is a "full package". An ideal Almaviva, Ernesto, Orfeo, Count Ory... Charismatic, charming, unforgettable... And Vincenzo Schalera is an exceptionally gifted accompanist indeed!
Он ужасен в вокале((( в нос и на горле поет, все поджато и от этого звенит как железо. Так быть не должно! Он удачно влез в мир известности, но он посредственность. И слушать его неприятно, дилетант

TheDunkanDiet Yes, I wanted to say I feel sorry for you if you can't find beauty and charm in JDF's rendition of this wonderful song... I find it most enjoyable and it gives me lots of pleasure!
Yeah, i find beauty, but in fact have knowledges about opera and i can see that the last C sharp are on the edge of her vocal capacity. The C sharp looks very distressed. I love Florez and her singing but i can criticize when he fails and this is not his best recital. Sorry for my english :).
Your post is understandable, that's most important. I don't have an impression that the C sharp in this rendition sounds strained. It's rather short, that's true, but it doesn't change my general opinion that the rendition is very, very nice - light, sparkling, charming. The press reviews after the recital were very good. Regards!

I DONT LISTEN INTERNET !!! SORRY !!! We - all Bulgarian wait Juan Diego Florez in Sofia - Bulgaria - Europe !!! Nadya Mirkova from Sofia
Why the indelicate - and musically random - final warcry? IMHO could have been avoided... otherwise, a pleasant performance.
Phf anyone?
oh, and for my money, this is pavarotti's song.

the repeat of the final 'tralalalera' - unnecessary, and not that well done, either. i think his voice is is too heavy for that last 'note.'
No me convence nada en esta interpretación, la verdad
Your loss... I can only pity you...
Have you pity me? What are you saying?
