Great video, thank god I took the plunge and bought it before all the reviews came out back in October. I’ve been enjoying them ever since. Current powering Sony CS5 and Infinity R12 sub. I might have to upgrade the speakers later on.
So I've been using this thing for a week and I'm returning it. The headphone out isn't really good enough for a pair of HD600s. I'm pushing 55 out of 60 volume regularly trying to drive them, not great. That isn't even the biggest issue though, its that the RCA inputs are noisy as hell. Like I get to 12 o'clock using anything with the RCA inputs and there is serious audible noise through the speaker outs. If you use the DAC as an input it sounds great, especially if you have easy to drive headphones (I only hear noise through the speaker outs), but I wasn't satisfied with the headphone out so I grabbed an ifi ZEN dac to run into this thing, and I've tried running balanced to RCA, or just straight RCAs, and its just too damn noisy driving speakers through the RCAs. Like my old $60 Fosi Audio amp has a waaaay lower noise floor. Just do not but this if you plan to use the RCA input. Not sure if its interference or what, but I'm returning this thing and getting an SMSL DA9 instead.
I also have the ad-18. I had it for a few years now. I'm also looking at getting this. so how do you like this over the ad-18. I also like it has a headphone jack. but Amazon has it for $185.99

I bought this Amp based on Zeos's review. When I unboxed it and hooked it up to my Parts Express Overnight Sensation speakers I got a ticking sound at all volumes including zero. Not a low tick either about 30 decibels. I returned the first unit I purchased based on the ticking. I assumed it was defective. The second unit I received did the exact same thing. So on a whim I changed out the speakers and the ticking disappeared. I then switched to another pair of Parts Express speakers I built called the C Note. Exact same ticking problem. Ticking existed with both C Note and Overnight Sensations. I then hooked the amp up to my Amphion Ion speakers and no ticking at all. I tested another set of Infinity speakers and they performed well also. Both Parts Express speakers are built flawlessly with printed circuit boards for the crossover. Both pairs of speakers perform wonderfully with every other amp I own. Without testing the impedance I can't come to any other conclusion why this would be happening. Has anyone else out there had the same issue with a different set of speakers? Has anyone used this amp with the Parts Express speakers? Please let me know.
You don't want a high pass filter on a sub out. Best to let the speakers run full range and integrate the sub where they roll off naturally (for music that is). It's easier to blend the sub in this way.
In addition I would recommend an F-MOD filter below 20Hz, just to filter out subsonics that steal power. You don't realize they're there until they are gone.
@@GeorgeWPush A speaker's bass will start to roll off (stop producing usable bass) around 60hz or so, it depends on the speaker and room. Match your sub crossover to around that frequency.
@@brydon10 ahh gotcha.. I'm setting up a 2.1 system now and my amp only has a 3.5mm out for sub...Do you know if I will be able to use the crossover knob on my sub in this case? What about my speakers'?-- Do I need to add a crossover for them or just let them play all freqs?

I’ll try to remember to come back to this review to let you know my opinion whenever I get this shipped to me and have a chance to test it out. However, to leave you with some advice right now; I would probably still go with this over the SA300 for the sole reason that this has a headphone out. I’m very new to this whole “audiophile” thing as I’m just running a pair of RB42s, so I don’t have any good headphones yet but I look at this as future proofing my setup. I know I’ll eventually get some good headphones and this saves me from having to buy another dac/amp to power the headphones. So overall, without being able to compare sound quality; if the SA300 has all of the outputs you need, go for the A30.

How does this compare to the smsl sa300 sound wise?
I just returned the SA300 I got for Christmas to Amazon today as soon as this review dropped.
@@kaesenwortham3005 and then never came back to update the review 😅
Would this be a good option to use with the Micca RB42’s?
what about The Rupert Neve Design RNHP Precision Headphone Amplifier??
will this be great on the klipsch rp600m ?
Music playing at 2:05?
the manual suggests it does not display sample rate when using the USB input; only coax and optical. Is this accurate?
yes
Compared to the FIIO BTA30?
Will you ever use KPH30i to review an amplifier? I have them (Gmodded) and have a little bear b4 (because i like it) and I’m always in doubt if an amp would add anything to the koss... except higher volume
Ive actually said the 30i scale really well. Put them on higher end shit and they sound even better
Would this be better than the Dayton HTA100BT ?
Does anyone know where I can find that Turkish March jazz version? It sounds super interesting
Been looking for a dac headphone amp upgrade. This thing is such an over achiever. I dont wanna replace my SA300 too, but daaaam it's just so convenient. I guess I'll pass on it for now, for being way too good for what I need... But I want it
"Thats tight as balls" love it

I think I wouldn't react like that if there really was a spider big enough to move my boxes around.
Mowing - in January?
Is there something similar that has dual optical inputs & either MQA support or AirPlay 2?
Also, is the Sprout100 that much better?
I bought this amp not for its dac but because its size a speaker outputs. I use it together with MQA dac, ifi Zen Dac. Sounds amazing.
