The Soilwork effect: listen to new single... feel unsure of it... tell yourself you aren’t going to write it off completely... tell yourself you’re going to listen again... find yourself humming parts of the song to yourself... listen to the song again... love it/like it.

Tbh, I understand that we'll never get a "stabbing the drama" album ever again, but that's okay. This isn't growing on me yet, but I'll keep giving it a listen and see if it changes. It usually does for me. Very rarely do I hear a new song for the first time and love it right away

    "Full Moon Shoals"
    lyrics:
I've never been your savior, I've never been your ghost
And as I'm pushing further, I'm playing the silent host
I feel like I am treading water, smoke's still burning my eyes
Through and through I'm still captured by disorder
Swept away by every helpful advice
Anyone would cure it with blindness
There were moments where I thought I could be
A man who's aching for the hour of closure
Darkness clearly kept on covering my needs
But it's not what it seems
It's just an inner endless shriek
    I won't unchain the lonely
    I won't release their souls
But I will examine the wishful
And drown in the full moon shoals
Anyone would cure it with blindness
There were moments where I thought I could be
A man who's aching for the hour of closure
Darkness clearly kept on covering my needs
But it's not what it seems
It's just an inner endless shriek
    Embracing the culmination
As the flames keep licking the sky
Slowly rising from the murky waters
I reach for the tenebrous sky
Sons and daughters of the repressed order
Take my turn and meet the dragon's eye
Anyone would cure it with blindness
There were moments where I thought I could be
A man who's aching for the hour of closure
Darkness clearly kept on covering my needs
But it's not what it seems
It's just an inner endless shriek

Got-damn, that opening & closing lick, with that power grove that kicks in at the beginning. WOO!! I'm digging this. It's different, but still Soilwork. Like how people grow up and evolve over time. Usually they are the same person, just carved out differently over time because of experiences and time. But they have the same history, name, possible goals, and same spirit.

_Earth's soilworks, that living surface where our planet meets the universe!_ So I just heard an advertisement for soil work over commercial rock radio. And hell as an arborist I'm always playing in the soil. So RUclips pick this song as the first to check out.
Growing up in a metal heavy City like Chicago. I was reminded of what happened to my friend who was a singer of a band called dead youth. Who suddenly popped out his eyeball and bursted some veins one day after growling out what obviously had to be the deathiest vocals from Hell itself.

Man, this song really surprised me. Very different sound for them! Classic Progressive Metal riff being the main feature in this song, and an early Scar Symmetry feel to the chorus. What a cool experimental song. Just based off the 2 singles I have now heard from Soilwork, I'm feeling that the diversity is going to be a really big thing for them. Very different to what we're used to from Soilwork.
So it may need some attempts, but the first impression is very decent.
I'm looking forward to seeing them live in 2019. :)

I want to see this band live just to hear this man's voice. I feel like his voice would have the same effect on me as Ray Alder and Geoff Tate.

Well, this is interesting to say the least.
At first I was a bit disappointed because this song absolutely lacks the dynamics and pace of "Arrival", which I kinda anticipated, but as the bridge kicks in, it's perfect.
Now it feels like the song around builds up to the bridge, and that's perfectly fine for me.
Also that seems like the album is gonna be quite diverse, which I really like!
    So - thrilled for more!

Just to follow up on the last post that I sent and now Soilwork should get the respect that's well over due. There sounding much better and this song sounds awesome and you know that the rest of the album is going to be mind blowing.

This is so GANGSTA!!!!!! - I know, that is not the word to describe such a song, but thats what comes to mind when hearing this!

So it sounds like a greasy fat guy in a sportsball jersey with an over inflated since of selfworth? Sorry but that has been every so called 'gangsta' i've ever met.

hahahaha I was thinking more of Gangsta rap kinda of vibe. Then again that was the initial feel. I know, not very intelligent etc.
