Absolutely best tutorial I have seen on the Omoplata. I always accept that my opponent will roll and I’ll follow him up coning to side control but dammit I want the tap! Lol. Can’t wait to practice these set ups. Way to go Jonny!
I love the strategy aspect that you added too of waiting to get the two points for the sweep, and then rolling forward to keep going for the submission.
Thanks for this video, I've had a lot of troubles finishing the omoplata and this stuff will for sure help me, I drilled all of it for the first time today. Gonna work on omoplatas now for a couple of weeks.
Tonight I tried to setup a collar choke before I rolled over their back. Didn’t work but I gift wrapped his one defense arm and then rolled. Finished with a gift wrap and omaplata from bottom. Thanks!
Great details Jon! You covered a lot of common issues I have and the grip modifications. I like how you addressed you can’t defend their 3 reactions all at once but I will definitely use the collar and pant grip. Victor estima likes to also control the collar but the belt. The pant grip is always there which is handy. Oss
your videos always inspire me to try new techniques, like i wanna be an omoplata player now :D having so many different transitions and finishes is a really good format for instructional videos
anonomos thanks a lot buddy, it’s really important people understand how all the moves connect more so than go super in depth on one technique in isolation.
Would you go over a failed omoplata where they're able to roll through, and you lose the grip on the shoulder. I'm finding myself in that situation in no gi more often than I'd like to admit.
Sometimes when I play farside collar sleeve vs a kneeling opponent and they know i want the omoplata, they'll dramatically rotate their upper body to keep that shoulder far away (while keeping their elbow in tight). Would you just switch to nearside collar/sleeve?
foulfortune well it’s hard to change to the other grips fast, in that case I would look to either rotate back to dlr x on the side the have forward. If that makes sense.

You'll reach Bernardo levels as a channel. You earned a bell subscriber mate.

The two dislikes are people sick of being finished by omoplatas

Been waiting for this video, great stuff thanks again for the fantastic content Jon!
Very helpful vid Jon, thanks
Sweet! I tend to avoid omoplatas because I'm not sure on how to finish it. Will try those !
Really good stuff.
You are a legend!!! 😍😍
I needed this refresher 👍🏼
Hi John , how you deal with opponent when they are trying to do a forward roll but head facing inside to escape the omoplata?
Amazing as always
Great video! Love the attention!
