- This gun might just live up to the reputation of the iconic Humpback and could lead to a revival of the 16 gauge. Fortunate to be shooting with the Bartholow Brothers on this day.

Very nice. I'm a 16 gauge fan.
I have black, green, purple and even red 16 gauge hulls. The red ones were made in Australia, beats me.
great gun used A-5 73 years
According to Brownings specifications on this newest A-5 in 16 gauge, this gun weighs in at 5 pounds 13 ounces,(28"barrel)being this light,it tends to make this gun handle more"whippy"and "paper-tube like".The original A-5's had the option of machined STEEL receivers, which would bring the guns up to the 7 pound mark,in which makes for a much better handling gun.Yes,in 12/20 gauges the original A-5's were available in"light"(aluminum receivers) or"standard"(steel receivers),if Browning would bring this option back,I would definitely buy one(A-5 in 20 gauge)with a steel receiver.

Is the gun in the video a 26in or 28in barrel? Do you think either one would be better for upland hunting?
Either one is fine, I have a 20 with 26" shoots great, I also shoot a 16 with 28 same story. If I know I am going to be in extra heavy cover I will shoot the 26" more open cover the "28 however they are both fine for either, there is only a marginal difference. If I was only going to own 1 gun I would take the 26"
Is that the 26” barrel? Or the 28”?
Believe it was 28
LOL!!.You WILL pay another $2.00-$3.00 per box more for the same exact loads in 20 gauge.Nice gun,but the 16 gauge makes no sense from a practical standpoint in todays times.Browning is trying very hard to breath life into something that died more then 50 years ago.Even in my 1963 gun digest, very, very few gun makers offered new guns in 16 gauge.Browning dropped the original A-5 in 16 gauge back in 1979!!.Browning re-introduced the 16 bore in the A-500/Citiori in 16 ga.back in the 1990's,both went completely extinct about 2 years after they were introduced.
I know, necroing your post and all... but may i remind you that the European, and by extension the rest of the world, do exist and that the 16 gauge *might* be more relevant than in the USA where skeet et all selected 12, 20 and 28 gauge officialy, pushing the 16 aside?
Lousy camera angle. Sun in the lens washed out colors. You could have done much better from the other side.
