Thanks for telling us the "how I think about it" part. That is the thing that helps me most. I want to connect the notes with something I know. Your method helps me do that. Thanks!
Hey Brian - not only are the licks you show great to add to my chops, the theory with respect to how and "why" they work/sound - are very help full. Great Stuff !
The light bulb moment for me was that the fourth of the fourth is the flat 7 of the one chord so making it kind of C mixo. Love the pedal steel licks. I am targeting knowing those in more places. Thanks for the lesson!
Such a beautiful composition in and of itself. I love learning these to pick up your vocabulary. What I would kill for one day is a video/lesson showing how you approach building out an interesting harmony (chord progressions), for example, on a piece like this! Often, I will learn a blues composition of yours and then use that as a model to make my own, which has been great. However, I find that I struggle to break out of classic blues and standard 1-4-5 patterns, and introduce new harmonic elements to my compositions. 2-5-1s and secondary dominants are a good place to start I know, but tips like you mentioning in this video, passing by the 4 of the 4 chord, are golden in my opinion! Anyway, if the well is ever dry for ideas, there's one for ya! As a long time follower of your channel, I appreciate your work as a teacher, it's definitely some of the best out there.
I am trying to learn the art of harmonized 3rds and 6ths. I can never figure iut when/why to use the straight shape vs the diagonal. If youre looking for lesson ideas, I know I would benefit from that and I sure I'm not the only one. Thanks for all the great content here!
I love this tune. Really liked the first lesson. I went to the website, the weekly lessons, and searched EP 551, but could not find the second part of this video . Could you send a link? Many thanks!
I think I've spotted where you secrete away your Zeppelin collection Brian! And if I'm not mistaken is that the spine of Now and Zen or Shaken or Stirred further down ? :) But seriously that is a massive and most impressive collection of Vinyl. A video on your favorites, rarities, and influences in general I'm sure would be very interesting.
Hi Brian, that's funny you should say that about not thinking about playing the triads because I just watched a short with Eric Blackmon playing the rhythm lesson of Black Magic Woman and I said everyone wants to play lead Carlos's part but just as important is the Rhythm part played by Neil Schon, right?
Not always. Some are quite easy and you master in a day. Others I've been playing for months and still improving some parts. The lessons are stand alone. Pick the ones you like.
Another tasty country lesson with pedal steel licks🎸🙂. Love the transition to the Bb and melody out of chord shapes.
Brian, you are the best guitar teacher on RUclips by far
I got to say that it makes my day as a guitarist when you post these videos, especially on country lead play
Thanks so much for all you do.
Playing the "fourth of the fourth" is such a cool transition or passing chord. Great job illustrating that.
I love you, you are the best. Thank you for giving up your time

I love these country lessons. So much to learn.
Hi Brian, your songs are changing me to a different music than I would've played a year ago and I really like it, thanks.
awesome :)
I'm enjoying these guitar 🎸 lessons

Would love to see some lessons on Willie Nelson/ Dango Reinhardt (Gypsie Jazz) style of play 🤞

Caged, the key , but also the major scale. Love your lesson Brian. Keep on doing the good work.

This is nice and really gentle. So reminiscent of Roy Buchanan in places. Thank you.

Your lessons are so incredibly good!
Excellent lesson and very well-explained. Thanks!
What’s your signal chain or post processing? You always sound great but your full “mix” sound over the backing sounds so full and sweet
Great sounding Tele got a sweet country pedal steel sounds 👍🎶🎸

Beautiful harmonies, excellent lesson! ♪💕
Hi Jola, another great song.
Hi Brian - are your lessons designed to be learnt in a week and then next week move onto the next lesson?
Not always. Some are quite easy and you master in a day. Others I've been playing for months and still improving some parts. The lessons are stand alone. Pick the ones you like.
There is no time limit on them - you can learn at your own pace
Ohh I like that.
