      I definitely am, just don't have the room... if I did, I'd certainly buy an ALP, which is currently on sale at my local Sam's Club for $399. That's a pretty damn good deal, IMO.

      Digital pinball is here to stay IMO. New IP will always be appreciated and at some point more real world table licenses will come hopefully too. If not the new IP and current library have me a fan and user for life.

      Couldn't agree more - it's already very fun - in the future it might actually be better than "real" pinball. Making a state-of-the-art 4K table right now, and even if you only use Zen tables, it's pretty amazing.

    Also when you own a real pinball machine there is always maintenance to be done on it. That cost adds up.

    • @evilgeniusentertainment
      @evilgeniusentertainment  Год назад

      It sure does - but more than that, you will need it done at some point, and if there's no tech locally you have a machine you can't play. It's the biggest negative by far of owning real pinball....

    No mention of OTG...one of the biggest features as mentioned. While you quickly mention it, I think that was gloss over.....having this just opens the whole world of Virtual Pin and makes this machine that much more valuable. With that said, great video!

    • @evilgeniusentertainment
      @evilgeniusentertainment  Год назад

      Thanks Telli! I also tend to ignore it b/c I don't think most people would use the function, cool as it is, as it does require some heavy duty modding if you don't want exposed cords/computer... That said, P'Dubs new video on installing a bigger back glass that comes all pre-drilled w/ pictures of how to connect everything might change that a bit....

      @@aitoolsforeveryone I just bought one, my USB 3.0 male a to male a won't connect to the PC and atgames pinball. Evidently it's very picky and can be a pain. Makes me almost regret getting it. • @smarouchoc7300
      @smarouchoc7300 Год назад

      In addition to no mention of OTG, you said you'd compare this to a 4K table and never made any comparison. I appreciate what you presented, but I don't even own one (yet) and can tell this isn't the review you said it was in the beginning. This review is for people who buy the machine, and only want to load tables from the single vendor. If you are that person, this is the review for you. If you want to play tables from other sources - YOU CAN! You need a PC with a decent GPU and a little technical smarts, and you can do it. Just don't think you are limited to what is in the AT games store because of what you see in this review. You aren't.

    They need to release Williams and Stern tables for this!

    • @evilgeniusentertainment

      Williams likely locked up by A1up, but Stern - who's still making new pins - would be quite a snag.

  • @bonesjackson81
    @bonesjackson81 Год назад +3

    I'm definitely still satisfied with it. I found hooking a computer up for other tables more annoying and cumbersome than it's worth. Need usb pinball to happen! I hope they make a second model without better solenoids and overall vibrations. Maybe get the tables to be native 3d too. If that's even possible.

    • @evilgeniusentertainment
      @evilgeniusentertainment  Год назад +1

      Agree 100% - for the money & considering the other options, it remains one of the great deals in home arcades. And I agree about AG putting out a "pro" table, hopefully 4K. I know several pinball freaks, and even though they all prefer the real thing, all acknowledge the place of vpin.

  • @soggykid5580
    @soggykid5580 Год назад +3

    I think people need to know that these have 60hz screens, and yes it works, but vpin is so much better with a faster refresh rate. I used to knock the looks but the AT games pinball has grown on me a bit.

    • @evilgeniusentertainment
      @evilgeniusentertainment  Год назад

      Yup, 60hz screens - which is the standard in the sub-$1000 market. To jump up to 120hz, you'd either have to build your own or drop $2000 plus at a place like King Pinball, so a little apples/oranges. 2nd, and really most importantly, even 4K vpin is still a simulacrum - physics still not quite there and the perspective doesn't move. It's closer but still not the "real" thing (plenty of fun though, and there are some amazing 4K cabs out there).

    • @paulcleary8088
      @paulcleary8088 Год назад +1

      I was really tempted to get the ALP (Still am actually) but I am glad I opted for my own wonky setup. 32" LG 165Hz 1440p monitor really makes a big difference. Paired with a 24" Acer monitor for the backglass. An HP TG01 with a 1660 Super to run everything and a Legends Game Pro for the controls. About $1200 total. No haptic feedback, but it isn't really noticeable.

    • @evilgeniusentertainment
      @evilgeniusentertainment  Год назад

      The inability to change out screens is the one big negative about buying the ALP - essentially makes doing the biggest improvement you cab do impossible. Again, for the money, the ALP is amazing. But it is frustrating that you can't change out that screen....

    One area where AtGames needs to improve is the backbox. They need a monitor in the backbox that takes up the entire width of the box. I finally saw one of these in person, and the existing backbox is too small for me to read, even after I set it to fill the whole screen. It's got to be much larger, and it's why I passed on this cabinet. Found out the GameRoomSolutions backbox mod only works with external PC based playing, not for the internal games. Thanks for sharing this.

    • @evilgeniusentertainment
      @evilgeniusentertainment  Год назад +1

      Hey TG, good to hear from you again! The biggest thing AG can do to add life span to the ALU 1.1 and the ALP is come out with a way to change out the stock monitors. Right now, far as I know, there's no way to change out either (you can change out the ALU 1.0 - doing a video on that soon). GRS and buystuff make some very nice things, don't they?

    Was looking at this game for my hang out shack in the backyard. How does it handle running in a unheated or non air conditioned enviroment?

    • @evilgeniusentertainment
      @evilgeniusentertainment  Год назад

      That pretty well describes my shack, and I'd say it has held up well. During really humid days during summer, the side art on the left side of the back box pealed up a bit, but no big deal to re-apply. When it drops into the teens, I do put on a radiator-style electric heater to make sure the LCD screens on all my games don't crack or whatever. One time it was so cold that one of my partycade's screen didn't turn on until I warmed it up, but other than that, other than that, I haven't any issues with any of my games that are weather-related (a few have been pooped on by birds though)

    • @evilgeniusentertainment
      @evilgeniusentertainment  Год назад

      To be fair, I do mention there are many ways to play non-AG games, including using a PC. But sure - the ALP's flexibility (combined with a lack of same from A1up) is a big part of the reason why this cab remains king of the v-pin hill.

    • @literallyunderrated

      Wait what? You can hook up a Switch to this?

    • @evilgeniusentertainment
      @evilgeniusentertainment  Год назад +1

      You can use any game system as long as it has HDMI... BUT, only the monitor. Essentially you'd just be using the ALU like any other TV by plugging into 1 of the HDMI inputs. Because the shooting games only really need the "gun" it's not a bad setup for the wii. I think I'm going to show a mode replacing the OG screen with a 32" for a better wii experience.... hope that helps!
