1983 will always go down for my fav year in pop music, so many great songs from that year, an unusual nice warm summer in the uk as well, everything apart from unemployment was magical, music saved a lot of people, doubt we will ever see a year like 83 again, Young, love in the air, and a feel good emotion.
1983...The best year of my life...met my first real girlfriend....passed my driving test first attempt (no theory)..loved the music too...would go back to this year in a heartbeat and not change anything !!!
Brilliant tune not on Spotify why?? 1983 got to be the best time apart from if you worked down a mine! Had a fantastic time driving my 1963 Mini Cooper down to Bournemouth from Widnes!! Such a laugh no mobile phones. No speed cameras, no global warming, not care in the world just pure joy! and the girls were fit!!
two singles released by them on their label, then another elsewhere after they were dropped. Not enough songs for a best of. Highly unlikely to be any label's priority, regardless of how good the song is.
I dn't understand. I listen to this song more than 50 times a day. Also the "Sinhala version" of this song is in our country, (o ye ojaa ye) love this from Sri Lanka 🇱🇰❤️❤️

Suddenly Im back to long hot school summer holidays, riding miles on my BMX chasing as I thought then the love of my life.Strange how you remember theses things the older you get.
Always loved this song and have it in the car - not many people remember Jimmy the Hoover... Why not? This is what coloured the canvass on top of the pops ! I wish they had more fortune, but would love to know what they are all doing now... if you are out there, Derek et al, let us know 🙂
am 40 years old but do remember this when I was 2 and heard it last year for the first time in 36 years. I have a superb long term memory and not much childhood amnesia.😁
Same with me, although not a lot of people beleive me....i can remember crystal clear being on holiday with my parents in malta when i was just 2 years old..i still can to this day and i described it all to my parents who were gobsmaked... i often seem to know a year by song instantly..my mind must have always subcontiousley linked music with things that have happened each year in my life ...or perfumes take me back to a particular year or moment...
With a little bit of tinkering to bring the sound a bit more up to date this could probably work really well in a remixed version. So many ingredients in there that add to the overall sound and make it really catchy.
Just found this video a couple of days ago, I loved this song when it was first released. Hubby & me were creased up laughing at D-D’s dancing! I “googled” him & it turns out he worked at La Westwood’s shop in the Kings Road. Some guy online said he met D-D the first time the guy went to the HEAVEN discotheque….. Woke up this morning to news that La Westwood has passed away at the age of 81! Coincidence? 😮
@@glenshea1967 I thought his dancing was cool; it brought new meaning to the phrase “having a proper knees-up.” I tried to copy it and ended up kneeing someone in the groin.
The year I was 9, got diabetes, and watched my violent dad beat mom on a daily, the year my sister was born the day I was admitted to hospital, anger and sadness 😔
1:52 My Chum gets 3 seconds of cam time?! RIP Maddog. 2:40 More Maddog, considered one of the best "punk" drummers in Los Angeles at one time. They're just miming for teen TV here but this song was #1 in the UK.
I’m not gay but I liked Derek Dunbar’s style, including the hair! He is actually Scottish, and worked at Vivienne Westwoods fashion store in Kings Road before forming the band with several others, they got a lot of help from Malcolm McLaren who was best buds with Westwood. The second single Kill Me Kwik was well received by the critics but failed to chart and J the H (and Derek) disappeared from the radar after that. I heard he now lives in the Czech Republic (that was a couple of years ago.);He must be 64 now, hard to imagine!
Good song, but obviously mimed. You don't hear it on the finished show, but the director says "Roll track, cue the dancers, and ACTION!" Then the performers begin miming and pretending to play the instruments.
Evoking sweet memories of the yesteryears. The world was so much better then
You nailed it😊

1983 was truly fantastic

A masterpiece of innovative creativity and, you will not hear a better virtuoso xylophone solo.

What a pity this band didn't go on to be more successful.
