- After failing to secure an outright majority, the ANC can no longer govern alone. Now ANC president Cyril Ramaphosa says the ANC has agreed to invite other parties to form a government of national unity. #DStv403
The ANC played it well by not choosing any specific party to form a government with. Instead, they invited all parties because the moment you choose a specific party, you give them leverage to make demands. The parties have to willingly join the national unity government. Parties like the EFF were making demands, such as insisting that Floyd must be finance minister. PA wants Gayton to be Minister of Home Affairs, while the MK party wants Ramaphosa to resign. Giving such parties leverage is risky. ANC knows a government won't be formed without ANC

This time, however, none of the participants has a majority so they have to make it work.
All in all it is not a bad idea if the individual egos and self serving natures of some party leaders can be contained.

If the ANC has learnt anything it would realize party politics does no one any favours.
In stead of a reduced cabinet as promised Ramaphosa again broke his promise and saddled tax payers with a bloated cabinet. If he had renegotiate the salaries to not exceed that of the planned cabinet that would have been barely acceptable.
The ANC should have been brave enough to keep 40% of the positions and invited in other parties.
Those like EFF who elected to join must live with the consequences. This isn't about politicians. It's about all South Africans and our country. MPs need to remember, they are public servants.
In order to be paid a person must first have a job second be able to do the job and third be willing to do the job. The ANC has the job of governing the country but doesnt know how to or have the people who can do the job. Theres a difference between having a job and being willing or able to do the work work. The ANC just wants the job and to get paid but now they need someone who can do the work and wants to do the work. This means that of the three things they only have one. This is 30% of the requirement which is funny but nobody is laughing except Cyril.

Please, Mr. Ramaphosa. There's only one thing left to do, and that is to "get it right!" It is heart-breaking and embarrassing to see the ANC come to this in only 30 short years, by losing control of South Africa in such a dramatic fashion, as the world watches on, after all that South Africans (and their families) have suffered through during apartheid. No disrespect, but under "your watch" we are now witnessing the complete destruction of the HOUSE THAT MANDELA BUILT. But, if there is a silver lining it is that, yes, the people have spoken, but they have left you with just enough power and control to fix the problems that have allowed the ANC to reach this point in it's history.
There are those in the country who are "playing" nice (only because they must, at present) but, who for 30 years have secretly hoped to one day retake power and bring "their" OLD South Africa back! They came dangerously close during this election, and will fair much better in the next election...unless you "get it right!" A coalition with "them" will only empower them to overtake you during the next election. Instead, please consider a "real" coalition with a very small number of smaller parties who align with your political philosophies, and who will give you 51% of the vote. Make them "real" partners, adopting parts of their platforms when possible. Show Good Faith with them and bring them (and their constituencies) under your umbrella (in the manner of King Shaka) but as official members of the ANC. Then, for posterity's sake, Sir, please, "get if right!"
Divorce yourself ANY corruption. Maintaining a peaceful SA will be a challenge going forward, but it must be a priority for holding onto, and attracting new, international investors. Put your people to work on jobs building SA's infrastructure, roads, telecommunications. Attract high-tech companies by educating your people to work in those industries. The possibilities are endless for a beautiful and prosperous South Africa.
