  • I had to work today and then go to a meeting so I did not get a chance to play until after dark. I tried a smaller batch this time, 25 lbs and I had very little that was not perfect.

I am going to make my own pot, we will see how that goes. If you would be so kind as to measure from the center of the nozzle to the top of the deflector plate and also the depth of the deflector ramp? I would really appreciate it.

What is the size of the classifier or strainer you use for the shot 7.5. And where did you order it from

Took awhile to fine it for you. I purchased it on Amazon Advantech Stainless Steel Test Sieves, 8" Diameter, #7 Mesh, Full Height

Depending on the alloy mix I settle on I think I can product shot for around 1$ a pound wish is half price. Its also for me that I can not be stopped from reloading because of not being able to get the shot or bullets for that matter. I started casting bullets so I would always be able to get the bullets I want, saving money was a bonus for me. I shoot a lot of 45 ACP and I can produce it for around 11 cents a round.

So...how much shot will you have to remake...to re-coup that cost? I dont do casting or shotgun reloading....but IF I DID....knowledge is king

I think around 500 lbs but that is just a guess. I also do it because I enjoy doing it. casting also lets me shoot calibers (plinking) that normally would be to expensive to shoot a lot. 300 Blackout, 45-70, 44 Mag, 357, Still working on a load for the 450 Bushmaster. I have a new NOE mold I need to cast some bullets and work up a load for. 45-70 are over 1.00 a round for factory and I load then for less than 25 cents. Fun sending 405 grain of lead down range.

I'm enjoying these. I do 99 % of my casting with coww. Have you done a shotshell reloading video?

Like any Job you do, I really have to do with the work involved. Ya, If you pay top dollar for material over the internet you are not saving any money. That goes with the territory. It isn't how I'm saving money, It's for you to figure out how to save money. It really has everything to do with you in the end.

My wheel weight lead is free and I dig about half of what I shoot out of the backstop and melt again. But with all things reloading don't expect to save money, just shoot a lot more. I make almost every cast pistol Rd for about 5-6 cents BTW.

      Vanilla Gorilla...
More ammo/shooting for the same coin is a savings & a benefit.
