I have 27% overdrive in my Cross demon RTR. Works good in some circumstances, but almost too much for a trail truck. Mine is done in the transfer case so it lowers the rear and speeds up the front, but i think i would like it better in the configuration you have yours now. Just with the rear lowered a bit. Interested to see if you like it better now, or with the front overdrive added as well.
Right now, I've only got it in the rear. It performed pretty well the last time I brought it out, but I think It'd be easier to tell once I remove some weight up top like the Expedition Rack. Still need to keep the front planted down in order to even utilize the difference in ratios, and that rack does seem to get in the way of that sometimes by lifting the front up.
I have a question. Are the traxxas gears straight tooth or slightly helical? Im torn between the hot racing helical and the traxxas machined gears. Your opinion?
@@RevolutionX It helps with climbing, but not for everyday cruising or side-hilling. Maybe i just do the underdrive, to slow down my TRX Sport a little bit and have a bit better crawling with not so much downsides.(and lower costs for upgrade :) )
I have installed the same in my trx4. But after the installation the diff won't rotate smoothly. Its likeit is in a gear and won't rotate freely like earlier.. anyone got an idea?
There's various ones you can use. I use Versachem brake caliper grease, but others have used marine grease, or the usualy RC grease from Axial, Traxxas, etc.
I'm assuming you want the overdrive and not the underdrive. I just added it to the description. Here it is! Traxxas TRX4 Overdrive gear set TRA8287 - ebay.to/2Wn6ptf (eBay) | bit.ly/3ftY8LD (Amain)
Great vid. Seems like it is not hard to do. Looks like a great moment to do this is when you wanna service your axles.
That's a good point! Yeah, it'd be easy to just do this when servicing axles!
Awesome vid my rc brother I just installed it in my sport too really made a huge difference
Nice 👍 Yeah, I've been sold overdrive ever since my Element Enduro. Now I'm looking for ways to put it in all my crawling rigs.
@@RevolutionX I have a question how do those new shock Mounts work out for you? they look cool 👍🏻

@@RevolutionX No problem my friend with great pleasure that I watch your video 👊😜

Sorry for the late reply. The Traxxas gears are straight tooth.
How goos does that brake grease work? Didn't even think about that.
Works just as well as marine grease. Stays on the gears too.
@@RevolutionX noice Imma try that on my next rebuild!! Thank you for the days top tip
Thanks for video. Could you give link for your rear bumpers
In the description I should have a link to the bumpers by ScalerFab.
Yeah, 2 of the 4 tint hex heads on the 35 tooth gear stripped. Had to buy another center shaft. That'll be the last time I mess with that garbage.
Ugh that sucks!
Nice kit and upgrade
It did help for sure. I'm wondering if I should go full on overdrive in the front + underdrive in the rear.

Did you tighten the diff cover too tightly? You may also need to put some shims to give the gears more separation.
What type of grease can you use

What is the part number for the overdrive gear?
